  • I had noticed that Michael Gambon's Dumbledore is very different than Richard Harris's they even wear different color robes.

  • SILLLLEEIIIEEEENNCEEE!! XD TROLOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • That "Don't you all have studying to do?" line is so *completely* not Dumbledore that I want to jam a wad of barbed wire up the writer's ass.

Of course, that's just a noteworthy moment in the overall experience of DOG SHIT since Gambon was inexplicably cast in this role.

  • HARRY DIJA POOCHANING IN DA CUPBOARD OF FAYA?

  • michael gambon is a terrible dumbledore

  • Totally agreed.

  • Michael Gambon once admitted in an interview that he'd never read the books. Reckon that explains a lot!!

  • HARRY PADDAH!

  • The unexpected scene at the end made me laugh! lmao!

Glad someones telling him to SHUT UP!

  • michael gambon wasnt even the actor then the other one was still alive

  • Richard Harris- The Chamber of Secrets has indeed being reopened (very calmly and quietly)

Michael Gambon (if he was told to do so) WHAT DYA THINK. THE CHAMBER F SECERTS HAS BEING REOPENED!

  • Richard Harris: Siillleeence (very calm)

Gambon: SIIIIILLLLLEEEEEEEENNCE (full shouting and angry)

  • @EverythingsUpload Richard Harris sounded very commanding, very easy to be taken serious; this shit was real. Whereas, Gambon, when he says "Silence", he sounds like some sort of prepubescent boy, voice wavering around and such D:

  • LMFAO at the end.

  • LOL at the ending! xD

  • anger management problems much? =o

  • he gets angry because of the pressure from the horcruxes and the poison that is killing him

  • I agree with you!! I liked the Dumbledore from the first movie much better, he was much warmer.

  • in gambon's defence, in order of the phoenix, dumbledore tried to get harry to dislike him and to get harry to not see dumbledore that much because if voldemort knew that harry had close connections with dumbledore, voldemort wouldve possesed harry more. but i still prefer richard harris

  • HAHAHAHa Silence!!!!

  • When you know and love the real Dumbledore, this is utterly disgusting and cannot be excused at all.

  • I don't know if it was the director's or the actor's fault (both, probably?), but Dumbledore in the books was always the most reliable, gentle and fatherly character, someone the characters and readers could always count on for comfort and security. That's all gone in the movies, and it's amazing how wrong they got him, specially after the first actor nailed the part in the first 2 movies.

This actor would make a better Mad-Eye Moody than the fat Moody they chose, though!

  • @TGIFridayy, I had read the books before seeing the movies, so i nearly fell of my couch when the Goblet of Fire scene came on!

  • In Dumbledore's defence, everything was getting kind of hectic for him around that time - I'd spaz too

  • i am agree becouse i liked the old dumbledore not the new crazy monkey man

  • I very much agree. I think the first Dumbledore -- sorry, I can't for the life of me remember my name - was the best. D:

  • No wonder voldemort's scared of him...

  • press 2, and you see he actually hits snape D:

  • ATTENTIOOOOOOON!!...whore. xD

  • Jesuss how did JK let them do this to Dumbledore? Unless she was ok with the way he was acting :/

  • Completely agree with the video - in GoF film Dumbledore is just angry all the time, but in the book he is patient, kind, good-humoured and all the rest of it.

  • Ur so right!

  • Richard Harris: SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILEEEEEEEEEEENCEE (EPIC)

    Michela Gambon: SHIILEeEeENCE!

  • HARRY DID YOU PUT YOUR NAME IN THE GOBLET OF FIRE! [slaps and kicks harry while screaming in anger]

LOL might as well have done. They thankfully toned film Dumbledore down.

  • No matter how many times I watch this, I always laugh until it physically hurts.

  • @ 00:58 EPICCCC ROFLLLLLLL

  • I tend to like Gambon more when I'm high. Otherwise, my grandmother would make a better Dumbledore. However, were Harris still alive, I doubt he could meet the physical demands of the later movies (seriously, he looked like his skeleton would shatter at any moment). But yes, Gambon was a poor replacement.

  • @MrTheFroop I think say that Michael Gambon is a 'poor replacement' of the role of Dumbledore is a little bit stupid to say. Gambon is one of the most well known actor of England. a fantastic actor in theatre and film too. The only problem that Mr. Mike Newell (the director of the 4th film) misunderstood Dumbledore's caracter. He was the one to say to Gambon to act like that, so in this case the actors are doing what the directorstell them. That is an other thing that he has done perfectly!

  • Gambon is so much better and nuanced. You yuppies are too stupid to see that..

  • I prefered Harris as Dumbldore, but I've grown into liking Gambon. He just shown how serious things are. He really cares for Harry, that's why he's so concerned about him. And he does not pretend to be omniscient. He knows Voldemort can be just as cunning.

  • Dumbledore's not supposed to run around shouting and being commanding, because he never *needs* to. He can establish all the power and control in the world just by walking into the room and speaking; he doesn't throw it around, her radiates it.

In fact, when he does start becoming more snappish and stern in the final books, it's a grim reminder of just how serious things have gotten.

  • @8x13Wolf yeah, i remember how i loved when i read the part Cornelius was arguing with him. and he became really angry and harry realized why he was also feared wizard.

  • My first reaction to Gambon was he was far to aggresive as Dumbledore in the films, Dumbledore was a man that was calm yet adored an electric sense of power, here he's more like a grumpy old grandad that needs to smoke his gandalf pipe and chillout abit....however on Dumbledores defence he was 130ish and still teaching (I would be grumpy too if I still couldn't ge a pension at that age). XD

  • NCS sent me here :P

  • HARRY POTTER!!!!

SHUT UP! SHUT UP!!! lol XD

  • 0:58 NCS!!!

  • Wow, he is manhandling the fuck out of poor Harry

  • And I wish I could find this again, but a while ago I found a little comic (I think on deviantART) comparing the book version of Dumbledore to Gambon's version during that part in GoF. Gambon was drawn looking like he was having a seizure, screaming, "HARRY DID YA PUT YOUR NAME INTO THE GOBLET OF FIYAH??!!" That had me on the floor!

  • I totally agree! Harris' Dumbledore wasn't perfect either, but he was much better at capturing Dumbledore's cheery, grandfatherly side. With Gambon, one of the few times we really see this is when he and Harry visit Slughorn. "That was fun!"

  • HARRY POTTER!!!

  • micheal gambon is dumbledore

  • Book: "Did you put your name into the Goblet of Fire, Harry?" he asked calmly.

Movie: "HARRY DIDYA PUT UR NAME IN DA GOBLET OF FIYAA"

  • @TGIFridayy I also didn't like the moments you pointed, but this isn't fault of the actor,it's director's...Gambon was the best Dumbledore!!!Especially in Half Blood Prince..

  • An unexperienced one and a newbie to portray Professor Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore - A Grand Sorc., D. Wiz., X.J.(sorc.), S. of Mag.Q., Order of Merlin First Class WHO had an UNEASY past.

  • All of this mess is the fault of DIRECTOR, and I don't know what J.K.Rowling's role in making film is, but how could she let HE played such an disturbance disappointing Headmaster. His action reveal an full of fear, hot head-ed and feeble old man. He completely destroy our feelings, our faith as well.

  • Mostly and Most Importantly, Richard Harris' performance possessed a stately style and full of knowledge style, a calm old man but the most wisdom wizard, friendly but powerful ... That's all of which Sir Michael Gambon's Dumbledore does not reveal "the perfect synchronization of those opposite special traits" - which make Dumbledore a best "place" of safety and faith to any of us, J.K.Rowling's readers. :)

Sir Michael Gambon's Dumbledore made noise sometimes he is ignorant angry like a child

  • Sir Michael Gambon's perfomance show us that he is so confident in his performance style and He absolutely did NOT read Harry Potter Triology.

  • it makes sense though, Dumbledore's getting more angry and serious as the threat of Voldemorts returns becomes worse. Why would you be kind and patient in dark times? In some scenes he is very nice to harry though

  • This is why I only like the first two movies.

  • SILEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeNNNNNNNNNNNNNNccccccccccccEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

    oh my god

  • When he yells SILENCE! He sounds like a Hyena

  • Book Dumbledore > Harris > Gambon

  • Michael Gambon is the worst Dumbledore... he just sucks

  • Dumbledore is a faggot anyway.

  • @Leatherbubba fuck u...u cunt

  • @JiminPalmSprings I didn't make it up. The author said so.

  • clearly everyone who says gambon does a good job at portraying dumbledore hasnt read the books

  • Gambon is not like the book Dumbledore!!!! You may like the character better but that is not how Rowling wrote her character!!! IN the books, it is mentioned anger in Dumbledore's EYES not his BODY language.

  • Arry! dija put jour nehm in tha Gobletafir!

  • Good lord I couldn't stop laughing at this for some reason. I felt like I was watching Grumpy Old Men.

  • He's a tad over the top yes, especially in Goblet. But I do like that they tried to make him look more commanding

  • @FlygonFriend76 He is nothing like the Dumbledore I read in the books... Richard harris played him properly.. Michael Gambon is such a lazy dude.. he refused to read the books or the past movies....He plays it absurdly... I'm watching the Goblet of Fire and he was just beyond horrible,,,

  • @JiminPalmSprings Yeah I agree there. Dumbledore isn't supposed to ever be angry.

  • IS HE IN THIS ROOM!

  • 1:08 I said SIT THE FUCK DOWWWWN!!!!

  • You have to admit though... Umbridge did try and kick his friend out on the street... out of her home. At first i hated micheal as dumbledoor but i probably wouldnt have if he had started out aas dumbledoor first. He does play it too angrey in the 4th one when he is with harry tho.. looks like he's gonna fly kick harry in the face :D

  • lmao the editing at the end. "HARRY POTTER!" "SHUT UP! SHUT UP!!!"

  • well as the harry grows older and the books grow darker, everyone seems more angry. sp therefore i think gambon is perfectly fine playing dumbledore. in OOTP dumbledore is purposly supposed to be avoiding harry. and in GOF you can tell through anger that dumbledore is worried and scared for harry. lastly, gambon shows dumbledores power and strength and u can see why voldemort is afraid of him. harris, however, wouldnt be able to be powerful like that but harris was perfect for the first two fil

  • you just wasted 1:29 mins. of my life. . thanks!

  • When Harry tells Dumbledore to shut up is great. After Dubledore slammed him against the trphy case in Goblet of Fire, he should have said something.

As for Gambon playing Dubledore, I thought he did a great job in Prisoner Of azkaban, but he's to angry or out of it in the other films.

  • so he fought voldemort because he was pissed?

  • 1:11 The Elder Wand... God!!! I love that wand soooo much!!!

    <3

  • In PoA and HBP he played it near perfect. Some of these scenes, though, it's a little unfair to say Gambon screwed up. When he interrogates the fake Moody, Harry (in the book) finally sees how terrible and powerful Dumbledore really can be (I think they should have had him blast the door off the hinges in the film, but that's just me). And fighting Voldemort, I can see why the guy might be "angry". Snape observes that Dumbledore was left shaken by his battle witht he Dark Lord.

  • i think gambod are more alike dumbledore then the first one cuz its kinda hard to see harris(or what the hell hes name was) do all the battles and be that hardcore , and everyone says that gambot is more angry but he are more alike dubledore in the book than you can ever emagin

  • Book:

"Harry, did you put your name in the goblet of fire?"

    Movie:

"HARRY! DID YA PUT YA NAM IN DA GOBLADAH FIYAH!?!"

  • @Greenday678912345 Thief!

  • @HurtMeSoul108 What do you mean? xD Are you talking about the picture I got it from?

  • @Greenday678912345 Hahahaha yes. But I was just kidding. Don't be offended.

  • @HurtMeSoul108 Sorry haha (:

  • @Greenday678912345 No need to apologize lol :] fellow Potter fans must unite!

  • LMFAOO at 0:58 wen he screams silence hahaha

  • i like where harry says shut up to dumbledore and u mixed it up so it looked like he was saying it to him.

  • 0:48 lol Dumbledore goes gangsta!

  • Hahahahaha I've been saying this since he took on the role, he's too angry... but the ending of that was fucking hilarious!

    HARRY POTTER

    SHUT UP SHUT. UP.

    *wtf* o.o

  • good ending!

  • He's probably a angry man in bed. ;) ohhhhh!

    aahaha

  • SILEEeEEEENCE! xD

  • IS HE IN THIS ROOM!?

  • I think most strictly book-fans would agree with you, as if you're a book fan, you realize the obvious differences, not only in looks but in how Gambon acts.

I did think he done a better job in the half-blood prince, especially when he does that spell with all of the fire around him. but ultimately the blame lies with the directors, because the books are lightyears better than the films.

  • He dishonors Dumbledore.

  • i couldnt imagine anybody other than gambon for dumbledore, for me, he's got it spot on. he has this aura about him a kind of mystique, like he's keeping something back (and he is keeping a lot back). in fairness, if i was in charge of the order and of hogwarts, had to delve into voldemorts past, trying to find clues for horcruxes, aswell as keeping the ministry at bay, i'd be a bit short with unruly young wizards from time to time!

  • As someone who read all books of Harry Potter 5-6 times, I can say Dumbledore in movies is a completely different character from books. In books, Dumbledore is a polite, kind and wise guide and guardian for Harry. But in movies, he is short-tempered and his relationship with Harry is no more than a relationship between headmaster and student.

  • @Bhaalspawn91

    Spot on :) x

  • gather round..QUICKLY!!!

    calm down u old fuck

  • thats the way he is sopposed to be the director tells him what he should say and how he should act so he is sopposed to be angry in those clips you have to admit it would be really stupid if he was acting like a pushover or too soft in those scenes

  • I didn't like either of the Dumbledores. Richard Harris seemed like too much of an old pushover without the fun little quirks of Dumbledore. Michael Gambon is way too angry all the time. Someone needed to get the character right in between the two.

  • 0:49 he sounds drunk

  • THIS is what dumbledore is

  • Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore. Yes, Mister Gambon, that is indeed the name of this character about whom you know NOTHING but were inexplicably selected to portray. What a total balls-up!

  • @scarabmango lol. 2true

  • DUMBLEDORE WHY ARE YOU BEING SUCH A LOUSY BOYFRIEND!!!

i do think that micheal gambon is an angrier dumbledore and i liked richard harris better he seemed more like the dumbledore i invisioned while reading the books...i guess he will have to do though..

  • "SIIIiiIIIIiLENCE!" EPIC xD

  • that scene in Goblet of FIre i don't sene anger from him more like extreme concern.

  • much much better than richard harris.

  • wow so true

  • LMAO at the PPP one, that was priceless!!!

  • He was too energetic in GOF. The others were fine.

"Don't you all have studying to do!?" was exactly like it was in the books.

  • He seems really energetic in The Goblet of Fire

  • hes the worst in the fourth movie. "harreh did joo put ya name in the gobledoFIYA?"

  • and why dosent Gambon wear his half moon glasses its almost as if the director said oh thats alright michael dont bother puting effort into it

  • Whoever wrote the "studying" line should be sent to prison for crimes against filmmaking. They could share a cell with whoever first had the UNBELIEVABLY BONE-HEADED idea of bringing Gambon into this project.

  • you have to remember it's not always the actors fault.

you'd think the directors would know dont you?

  • I don't blame Gambon, but his Dumbledore is just awful when compared to the books. Book Dumbledore rarely lost his cool, he was a hugely powerful figure that everyone respected but he was also someone that anyone could sit down and have some tea and biscuits with. He was incredibly well mannered and polite, and always in control. And oh boy you do not want to see him angry, even Voldemort was afraid of him. He was the epitome of goodness.

Gambon's dumbledore is pretty much the opposite.

  • OMG! What happened at 1:08-1:10 ? What the hell is he doing?:O

  • lol omg this made me laugh youre so right its like hes got a stick up his butt

  • i much prefer gambons charecter!!! harris was too old! i couldnt imagen him doing the duel bit in OOTP...you have to remember they're two differnt people and harris probally wanted to do what gambon did but he was to fucking old! gambon ftw

  • That has been my biggest problem with Gambon's portrayal of Dumbledore. Dumbledore never flips out for no reason like Gambon seems to do all the time, and whenever he does get angry, it's always a calm, controlled, and powerful anger. Richard Harris gave more of the calm, controlled, and powerful anger I'm talking about (ex: when he yells "Silence!" in the first movie). Harris was a perfect choice for Dumbledore, he felt so much like the book. It's a pity he couldn't finish the work he started.

  • Dumbledore his gay.

    Ups his coolness.

  • SILLLYYEEENNNCEEEE!!! That made me rofl!

  • Well Gambon is used to serious roles, you cant really blame him, and i think he was EXTRODINARY in the half blood prince.

  • I personally prefer Gambon over Harris as Dumbledore. His portrayal adds so much more depth to the character, more than I thought possible. Michael Gambon stole the show in Half-Blood Prince.

  • He actually hasn't read the books apparently.

  • Dumbledore: HARRY POTTER!!! Harry: SHUT UP! SHUT UP!!

  • Dumbledore rocks!!

    even if he is gay!!

  • Agreed. I think he was horrible in his first movies. Only the last two are acceptable in my opinion.

  • lol. i cant imagine the 1st dumbledoor dueling xD

  • @cookiewaa Yeah, me neither, lol

  • OK only a few of them are valid. The ones where he's duelling Voldemort are clearly not, the ones just after he's saved Harry from Crouch are also not because he was livid in the books at that point, but the others were jarringly out of character. It's good that he's perfect in POA and HBP. Well his characterisation is anyway. Stupid costume designer!

  • i ALWAYS go on about this LOL

  • 0:57 SHILEEHHNCE!

  • DONT YOU ALL HAVE STUDYING TO DO?

  • @054martinm Yes they all have studying to do

  • @054martinm this is exactly why im still in grade 4 XD

  • didyaskoneoftheotherstudentstodoyiforu?

    no...

    SILEEENNNCCEE!

  • if it was legal I would go Sir MIcheal Gambon season!

    but since it isnt!

  • Sir fuck head doesnt and will never know who the real Dumbledore is

  • LOL IS THIS DRAKE? From IMDb????

  • Very clever clips- I always love your stuff. I agree he gets older and more distant but in OTP it is clear that this is protect Harry. I agree he is becoming a grumpy old man but maybe he knows time is running out- will love to see what you make of HBP and DH . : D

  • no its not clear! never was clear since Sir fuck head doesnt explain it

  • 0:57 That's not fair - Richard Harris did exactly the same thing in Philosopher's Stone. Besides, Gambon is not always angry. Watch him in POA and HBP - his best performances of Dumbledore. I think, because the wizarding world is getting darker, ther's more pressure on Dumbledore. Just because there's clips of him being a bit angry, does NOT mean he's like that all the time. He is allowed to have various emotions ya know ;)

  • 0:58, sorry - where he shouts SILENCE ! Does the same thing in PS.

  • Yeah, but Harris' "Silence" is way less angry. He kind of just projects his voice over the students. Gambon, however, sounds like a troll lol.

  • Harris did but he was less harsh

  • He's not allowed to yell. Dumbledore is more mature than that. He knows that in order to be happy you can't let your emotions get the best of you so he's cheerful and calm most of the time. The directors just have Gambon scream for silly dramatic effect.

  • it's simple really. Gambon forot he was playing Dumbledore from Harry Potter and not Gandalf from Lord of the Rings.

  • I never expected him too I did expect him to be calm rationale, Not wear his emotions on his sleeves, be caring, be miffed but never out of control! NEVER!

    That is Not Dumbledore

  • of course dumbledore became angry in the 4th and 5th movie after all these rumors about himself that he was gay.

  • of course but he looks like a raging lunatic and he isnt! When Dumbledore is angry its a cold fury! like a bright light that is a spear! Not all over the place like a crazy person

  • i agree with you completely.

michael gambon is a horrible dumbledore. richard harris was exactly like dumbledore is described in the books.

  • In an interview, director david yates said "dumbledore is calm and graceful", but I'm sorry, Gambon's dumbledore is anything but calm and graceful. Harris' dumbledore however was just like he was in the book, he was calm and graceful but also whimsical and humourous. He made dumbledore feel like a special person, which he is. He commanded respect, and despite being old and frail you can sense he was really powerful. The trouble with Gambon is he tried to be too different from Harris.

  • Nah. Richard Harris wasn't that fantastic either.

  • he was far better then SIr fuck head

  • Well, althought i liked richard harris, i also like michael gambon because he is more energic. conserning the angry attitude of dumbledore on the harry potter films 3,4,5....gambon is acting the way described in the books.

I really liked the wearing with richard harris, but, i can't imagine him doing the scene agaist voldmort.

  • Gambon isn't acting like in the books! The books have Dumbledore calm and collected, Gambon is acting like a crazy person.

  • LMFAO. I love all the reaction shots of the students: terrified, abused, and otherwise disturbed...

  • dont they have enough to be terrified of?

without there headmaster being a ragining lunatic?
