i think HOWZAT is the sound bowlers make when the scream and appeal for the wicket to the umpire..like if a bowler bowls n thinks hes got an LBW, him and the other players will turn to the umpire n yell *HOWZAT* aka asking the umpire to give the batsman an out..n i guess ppl lyk to put that on posters..hope that helps

Br0wnsweetness.. has the right idea. Even though majority of the times bowlers do yell out HOWZAT..the technically CORRECT pronunciation is: "HOW'S THAT?". As in..they are asking/appealing with the umpire.. How's that delivery?

A bowler appeals a LBW by asking the umpire.. "HOW's THAT".. (how's that delivery) and if the umpire thinks it's good.. the finger goes up.
