I miss Gilles. He was my soccer coach with my dad and was AWESOME! I used to see him a lot. But then when he started doing Dancing with the Stars, he was really busy and still is. IDK, Sure Giles was great and everything, but i feel like Shawn honestly deserved the win after it was all said and done. Yeah Giles got higher scores or whatever, but he blew it with his freestyle. Shawn on the other hand steadily improved as the weeks went by and in the weeks approaching the finale she built lots of momentum and did a fun and exciting freestyle which i believe eventually led to her win.

Shawn was good technically, sure, but I've never seen anyone so emotionless when they dance. A smile isn't enough for me. Gilles had the acting as well as the dancing. Technique isn't enough for me. I need to feel the love. Gilles should have won!

Well I'm loved both Gilles and Shawn, Shawn was best female dancer and Gilles the best male dancer and it all comes down to the freestyle and she won, so she deserved it, but I do LOVE Gilles and season 9 men suck compared to him.

okay, gilles was a good dancer. but it's a competition. no one is garunteed(sp?) the win. you have to earn it. that's what shawn did. yes, she wasn't the best starting out, but she finished strong and with confidence. as len says, it's not how you start, it's how you finish. not to mention, her freestyle was one of the best ever on DWTS. Gilles faltered a little in the finale, although i agree he is an amazing dancer!

Gilles was the best in every dance til his freestyle and for some reason Cheryl could not be original enough to showcase Gille's assets.... i was disappointed in that dance and that is the only reason why shawn won ( because of her freestyle) and never mind her lacklustre dancing til then. She pulled it off at the last minute. But that is why Drew and Emmett won was their Freestyle... they weren't the best throughout every week.

totally spot on comment anita, however I will say that Shawn had been a bit above lackluster on more than one occasion, she had about 2 or 3 dances that I felt she really rocked.

I too am shocked at that freestyle Cheryl did. It's as bad as the one Tony & Stacy Keebler did in season 2. Maybe they were trying to let Shawn win or something, cuz that made no sense.

Gilles fell in love with dancing and that is what Flashdance was all about.

I admit Gilles is a very good dancer and has made the highest scores on most of the dances. I think DWTS is also like a popularity contest than just actual scoring. Maybe the public wanted the legacy to continue with Olympic athletes always winning the show. Apolo and Kristi for example and Shawn was just another addition. If she lost she would be labeled as the Black Sheep. Btw I voted for Shawn & Mark all the way. But I was betting for Gilles and Cheryl to win.

Gilles and Cheryl are the only winners this season. The only one who was even in the same stratosphere with Gilles was Melissa. Shawn wasn't even in the same solar system. She dances with as much passion as a wet mop! Height and weight ARE VERY RELEVANT. Whomever says they aren't is delusional. Dancing is the ENTIRE PACKAGE. There is not an aesthetically pleasing thing about watching Shawn dance. Gilles is the real deal and the true winner. I'm sure Shawn knows this too.

Gilles and Cheryl won. The judges' decision to award all 30s was what skewed things. Had Gilles and Cheryl danced first for the final, their superiority would have been so indisputable that the judges would have been compelled to award Shawn and Mark a 28 or 29. Favorite Gille and Cheryl routine (hard to pick) but have to go with waltz for the emotion. Excellent season insofar as I got to witness such a great pairing. Here's to great things ahead for Gilles!

I don' t know why people always complain about this show not being fair. This show has never been fair and it doesn't need to be. It has been a popularity contest from the very beginning. It has never been about the best dancer winning. Look at how far Cloris Leachman, Steve Wozniak and Ty Murrary went on the show. With the exception of Ty improving a little each week...Lil Kim shouldn't have been kicked off before him. She was a better dancer than him but that's how the audience voted.

This year, I am the only one I know who watched DWTS - in previous years, a lot of people watched. The celebrities were all D listers. I did get into the show because I like Gilles Marini and Melissa. However, year after year a professional Olympian or someone with dance in their background seems to win.

I will never watch this show again. It is a waste of my time. With American Idol - it's different - Adam Lambert lost but he sort of won anyway because of the exposure.
