Does anyone know what Album this is from? I've been searching for this version of Summa since I heard it, but can't find it. All the other versions I have heard are played much slower than this one.
@kstar623 i've been looking for this version too but i've only found this one on last.fm. but this is very good i also like Symphony NO.3 its great!!!
@Toko106 and @kstar623 I believe this is the version conducted by Tamas benedek and can be found on amazon for 89 cents! the album it's under is Part: Fratres / Festina Lente / Summa
Unlike other Part's pieces of music I have a hard time to retrieve the tintinnanuli generative patterns here and I'd really like to have the scores. Summa is my favourite Part's song, which is ironic since it's so different from all makes his music so outstanding
I have got eleven different takes of SUMMA (this one I did not have, THANK YOU for sharing it), among them the a capella version sung by Theater Of Voices. I can hear this piece of music in all it s variations all day long without being a glimpse of the idea of getting bored. It is wonderful!
I think you should listen to Lacrymosa for the Victims of 9/11 by the American composer Robert Cummings to hear another wonder string work. It has been posted on Youtube.
While i disagree with your first comment, i truly hope your second proves right, what a wonderful prospect it is to know that the "best" is still to come.
I'm actually using his tintinnabuli as a variation in my new orchestral work. Such a simple, yet very difficult to master style. I'm imitating the texture of Summa in my work.
Earlier this year, the Estonian National Symphony came to Columbus, GA and performed this. Along with Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 2 and Sibelius Symphony No. 2
love this, the push and pull of the tempo is fantastic, hypnotic like the motion of a train.
