  • No this is not candomble or a ritual. this is just dance. In candomble they wear the white hoop dresses and have various ritual items or they are singing and chanting. Just because black people are dancing to a drum does not mean its a ritual.

  • OK, so these folks are from the Muntu Dance Theater of Chicago and the African American Dance Ensemble of New York. I know some of those folks, well! They must be in Bahia for performance, and or, discovering their Afro-Brazillian roots. That explains it!

  • This is a harvest dance of the Mandingue culture from Guinea. I recognize it as "Kassa," a harvest rhythm. This goes to show that pure African drumming is found all over the world! This djembefola (djembe player) is good! I

  • Typical of Brazil...people on the street playing African drums..gathering..having fun on a sunny day. Please don't trivialize Condomble because you are clueless ("condomble..or whatever...."). Is is legal now for people of African dewcent to gather in one place.

  • I am from Bahia...not raised there so I don't know much about Candomble...but I know enough to say for sure this is not it..all it is just some sort of African dance...people having fun on the streets of Pelourinho...sorry Eduardo...not even a resemblance of Candomble there.

  • Mais isso não é Candomblé, isso é kuduro

  • This clip was made at BAhia, Brasil- and I'm Brazilian, So: the whole scene was a kind of people having fun , trying to show something for the tourists around. The drums, the rythm are genuine. A few of the movements of those people kind of recall real moments of, say, 'possession'. Nothing more than that- Yet, there's real power in the real cults of umbanda or candomble. The whole thing was brought from Africa centuries ago and is most common in the states of Bahia, Rio.

  • actually these people are playing west african rythms...they are not from candomble because different drums and rythms are used...these are actually people from the african american dance ensemble and muntu dance theatre from chicago...

  • This is West African percussion, not a candomblé ritual!

  • Hi. It´s just people having fun...

  • I have totally sure that isn't candomble...this i have absolutly sure that isn't, but this video showed a folk african's dance or maybe african's candomblé...because is much diferent for the brazilian's candonblé...we can't mixed this...but the place like a pelourinho place in Salvador-Bahia, in Brazil...i'm not sure about this...but i know that isn

  • And by the way, any offensive comments towards either the people on the video or me will be deleted. Thank you.

  • The great thing about this title and description is that if I had got it right, I wouldn´t have so many comments, hah.

    I´m keeping it that way.

  • what a dick head the one than said its candomble or whatever, lol

  • CAN YOU SEE IT'S NOT CANDOMBLE

  • This is not Candomblé ritual. They are just having fun.

  • This is Brazil for sure, and those people using the drums from candomblé, but the rythm is not the same. In my point of view, they are performers and trying to make some money. ( Andre from Rio, son of shango in candomblé)

  • this is brazil but that people are just dancing...danza afro.. a ritual of candomble is totally diferent..

  • That reminds me of a David Bowie song :D

  • Dude, they are just dancing ok?

  • I am not saying this is not in Brazil that part is obvious you are obviously in Salvador. I am saying this music and style of dance is from west Africa. I would guess Guinea or ivory coast. It is not from Brasil.

  • Well... it was in Pelourinho (bahia brazil) indeed, since I was there on vacation and made the clip myself I'm quite sure about that ;)

  • babaana stfu

  • This is African Drumming and dancing in Pelhourinho, led it looks by West Africans. It's not Candomble. Please no abuse, if someone doesn't know then inform and help them.

  • that is brazil you ignorant buffons, africans were brought to brazil

  • This is not in Brazil!!!

  • This is not even from brazil. Looks like some people who do north west african drumming were visiting and decided to show it.

  • That's stupid, there's nothing to do with Candomble or any sort of religious rituals.

  • I'm not an expert, you see ;)
