  • darth maul a trooper & darth vader at 4:44

  • Piano solo beats every other piano solo I've heard so far. This is an awesome song indeed.

  • blew my mind with the piano solo! great song

  • @corvettez0910 i know right, unreal!

  • I Love my Name :) lol <3

  • I had a Melinda once...what I thought I was doin', was in fact not what I did, what I thought I had figured out, was so very not figured out. Seems time does not heal all wounds, specially self inflicted.

  • @exbunnie I believe you, my name's Melinda too and I have this problem too so I know exactly how you feel.. :(

  • had to click this not many songs with my name :)

  • Jaw droppin goodness that doesn't fade after repeated listens.

  • I never heard of this song until this evening.

    Peace and Love to you

    ,from melinda:-)

  • Truly, purely magical.

  • This is just a great song. The piano work is just as strong as the guitar is.

  • <3 the keyboard solo!

  • I love this driving beat that begins around the :50 mark. Petty is amazing. Also thought that was a mandolin @ around the 2:00 mark, but nope. Just amazing pickin.

  • great song

  • Melinda is taken from "the anthology", a four-cd set which is a live album from 1980 until now.

    .

  • @FIDYS0001 I got that album a few months ago. It's worth every penny

  • The show was in Chicago. I think it was at The Vic.

  • I searched for this song based on an article in my most recent Modern Drummer magazine. As stated, ""Melinda" A sprawling, previously unreleased Southern gothic jam that Ferrone pilots gracefully with bundle sticks."

(Ferrone is the solid cat on the drums.)

  • i've seen several videos from this show.

    Where are they from ?

TP & the Heartbreakers are so great, unfortunately they never come in Belgium.

Last time it was about 15-20 years ago.

  • @FIDYS0001 They jumpstarted their career by touring in Europe, just like Hendrix did. He at least owes them a few stops.

  • The pianist reminds me of Schroeder from Peanuts, lol. May be one of the best I've ever heard, though!!

  • Very Cool. Petty is the best. He is great live. And Campbell is just sick.

  • is this an original Tom Petty Song? If so, anyone know what album it is on? I've had no luck finding it. Thanks.

  • Spent a while looking myself, it appears it is a Petty song, and is new as of this concert. The new Live Anthology that's coming out appears to be the only official release with it on it, that I can find at least.

  • What a great song. I was barely waking up when I heard the end of this song on the tv show classic albums and I was like WTH is this? I instantly woke up and saw it was Tom Petty. I am not usually a big fan of his music but this song is great. Only shame is on this version, with computer speakers, you cant hear the baseline. You have to watch it on tv to really appreciate it.

  • Oh wow, you're coming to see me?

I don't even know you buddy.

Chill out with your hormones, :)

  • I didn't realize until now, but he looks a lot like Vincent Furnier(Alice Cooper) ... Just look at 0:26 ...

  • hey who wrote this?not petty right

  • He played this at Bonnaroo '06. It has a great sound slightly different from their known sound which is why I like it so much

  • I would sell my soul to be half as good as Benmont Tench. Amazing musician.

  • Melinda..

  • Yes?

  • watch video from beginning to end and experience TRUE Tom Petty and awesome musicians that take music very seriously...Sweet

  • I just watched this in high definiton!! it was amazinggg

  • This is an original.

  • who is this song originally by?

  • One of the two best bands in America Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Fleetwood Mac

  • Benmont Tench is the Man! What a musician! The other guys are pretty good too. ;)

  • Excellent Job. I love Petty and This song is one of his best.

  • what is that thing the guitarist is using at 4:02????

  • yeah what is it??? ive been trying to figure it out!

  • it is a "ebow".

  • This had to be the high point of one very fine Soundstage; Petty and The Heartbreakers kept the quality top-notch throughout all two hours, but Melinda pulled out the stops. Benmont Tench still has it, no matter what session he sits in on.

  • I have the Soundstage dvd, but its nice to have these clips posted on You Tube. It makes it so easy to watch. Guess I'm off on a Tom Petty ride again. Can't get that man out of my soul!

  • Saw this on Soundstage sometime back. One wordd to describe it..Awsome!!! Is this tune on any of their albums?

  • Played this with my band at rehearsal and even though it was good, it will never add up to the intensity and energy this band puts into it.

Greatest band out there folks. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers!

  • Maybe I favorite Tom Petty song and there are plenty of greats to choose from. Excellent quality upload and video.
