why does plastic gringo western pop music in mandarin is almost everything we can hear from China in other parts of the world. I have heared some beautiful chinese voices like Mim Haam (although she is hmong, not han, but she sings with traditional technique, which is just more suitable for chinese languages, as it fits much netter to its structure, more beautiful), but difficult to find. Does people really mainly listen to this in China? what a disgrace if true..
@Quetzalcuetlachtli That's kind of like assuming everyone in the states and U.K. all listen to the mainstream pop acts we have now. I'm pretty sure the rest of us listen to other genres that haven't been popularized. China is no exception. If you look hard enough, I'm sure you'll find traditional music that's still alive and an active fanbase.

I've searched fairly but found very few exmples of actual mndarin or cantones music that dont copycats gringowestern pop; most of wht I see well and alive and listened by the young generations are uyghur, or hmong, or tibetan, etc... But if you listen to the "pop" or rock han music of 60's and 70s is totally different, with the western influence present, but totally chinese in the melodies, singing techniques, etc. Very Nice, very chinese, authentic.
