Hello, would you please let me know who's the interpreter of this piece, who plays it and the CD which has this version? I really need to know this so i can maybe use it in my work. Thank you.
@jamal96jojo death is as much apart of life as living. Each individual life is significant, no matter how many people there are on this planet. That person would want you to make the most out of your life, not let their moving on hinder it's potential
I am composing and dancing a short dance [ ballet ] to this. . . I thought it fit my theme of baby swans learning to use their wings very well(: beautiful music
Charles-Camille Saint-Saëns (09 Oct 1835 – 16 Dec 1921) was a French Late-Romantic composer, and pianist. He composed “The Carnival of the Animals”-a musical suite of 14 Movements (on 14 animals) in Feb 1866 while vacationing in a small Austrian village. After composing became concerned that the piece was too frivolous and likely to harm his reputation. He suppressed performances of it and only published one movement, Le Cygne (The Swan), and arranged to publish the rest after his death.

Did you know that when he went to the premier of Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring" he actually stormed out the concert hall because he claimed that the oboes were not being used correctly! Oh Saint-Saens...
@fluffyfrumps It should be left in tenor since for cello the main clefts are both bass and tenor and even treble, a good cellist should be able to read all three of them
@iceflame5 It is mainly written in the tenor clef, so the viola can probably play it. My version was transposed into the bass clef (which is the main clef for the cello)
saint-saens made the kind of music where you close your eyes and see a story. his music isn't meant only to be heard; it engages the imagination also. <3
Many people think that this piece is a sad, depressing one. It only matters how you enjoy the piece. Imagine you entered a place, where no one had ever discovered, and you continue to live here for the rest of your life, this is a wonderful piece. Continue weeping and saying, "Oh Poor Me!", you may never wake up.
So you want me to respect something FAR from normal, something when u actually think about it, is about as bad a seeing ghosts and going to a mental center for it. And for that i get the respect of a loony... Don't get me wrong though, i respect people in mental centers. They usually have some issues that were there when being born. You my friend are a made man, a made madman.
Sry man i just cant do that. I'll respect you as soon as you get help for your mental problems :)
It doesn't sound like some dude actually wrote this song. it sounds like it had been there all along, hidden in the human brain, and all the musician had to do was find it. I guess that how you tell the good songs from the best.
this played on my brother's funeral 2 years ago. tomorrow will be his 22nd birthday.. he was both fragile and very strong personality and I'm proud, not only to had him as a brother, but also to share my life with him for beautiful 15 years. he was the swan in my family. he'll always be in my heart...
When one looks into the haunting eye's of those here long before us,Saint Saens, The Swan, it tells us that this masterpiece of music wasn't only meant for those of his time. Saint Saens was thinking well ahead of his time. It fills me with emotion and It will never stop reminding me that Saint Saens is telling us to love and respect ALL nature including that of mankind.
I'm a 67 year old classical music lover as of today, and I have no qualms at all or an iota of hesitation or admission of guilt in admitting that this piece moves to tears absolutely every time I hear it.
I'm a 67 year old classical music lover as of today, and I have no qualms at all or an iota of hesitation or admission of guilt in admitting that this piece moves to tears absolutely every time I hear it.
I love this particular movement because it Is so graceful and calming. I could listen to this all day, but I also enjoy the rest of the movement that make up 'The Carnival of the Animals'. It seems like he made music to suite my mood exacty!
Viva eternamente..
This song makes me feel like something I felt before in a distant dream, I feel I can touch it, that I can relate to it but it feels so distant. I want to cling to this feeling, how the music touches me but Im always blurred back by my reality
I love Saint-Saens' music very much, but I really think that 'The Swan' should have been written for the double bass originally. The more sonorous tone adds a richness that the cello, bless its wonderful attempts, simply cannot reach.
When I was 5-10 years old my father played this record for me over and over again, now I played it on his funaral. The best and the worse memory in my life
I listened to this song when I went into labor with my son, and it instantly calmed me down for the drive there. He's two now, and this song can STILL calm me like no other song. Beautiful.
Har har, this is viola music person. Not even kidding... I am playing it on the viola and the music is for the viola. Although I do get that cello can be higher it would be much easier to play on the viola. Google freakin viola if you don't know >.>
@TheWhichata Yeah, man, NVanWendy is right. It's been transcribed for any number of instruments, particularly string instruments, but it's originally a cello piece. Maybe you should Google freakin Carnival of the Animals if you don't know.
@RAWRITSMEL it has a different instrumentation than the original, sounds like they added more strings or synth instead of 2nd piano, and replaced the 1st piano with harps (even though the pianos always sound harp-like).
@ketanisgods You do realize that The Carnival of the Animals is the name for all 14 movements? The Swan is only one of them, so it's not meant to be lively and exciting, it's about a graceful swan.
You're part of the music, a child, and it's only you looking at the carnival. You don't hear others but hear your feelings towards what you're seeing. Simply beautiful.
Cette musique est vraiment belle, elle est simple, mais elle creuse vers le bas pour votre âme et vous faire réfléchir sur le sens de la vie. C'est la raison pure de la musique. Le meilleur de la musique pour la période romantique!
