AMERICA YOU CHOOSE.Bush made America suffer, gas prices up,5000 american soldiers dead for nothing! thousands mentally and physically ill,America in Recession.Healthcare System sucks. Homeless aging people, vets sick and dying not getting help...America got lost with Bush...ENOUGH!!!
Using the expression, after Palin had used her lipstick comment during her speech was a boneheaded move, no matter what he did or didn't mean. Look at the bru-haha that ensued. He shouldn't have said it.
The easiest things to Say or Do are the things that make ones-self feel the most comfortable, and the difficult & most honorable things to Say or Do are the things that try to make everyone around You or that You know of more comfortable then ones-self.
However if one doesn't seek Honor then one should sit and listen, until He or She knows what to Say & Do.
Thank You Barack Obama !
Sometimes it just takes those whom use to be blind to bring sight to those whom still are blind.
You tell them Obama! Tell them what change really means! Spare us the phony outrage and distractions that have kept Americans from making progress for the last 8 years and has gotten us into a war, recession, and a economic crisis! WE NEED CHANGE!
ok ok ok. His remark about putting lipstick on a pig doesnt change it being a pig was directed to Palin because what she said at the RNC. And for those of you that say that barack is going to do something about the gas prices. then why are the democrats against off-shore drilling? how can you do anything about it if you wont use ur own resources. And if Barack is so good at delivering change then why did he vote present 100 some odd times in senate? Why couldnt he vote yay, or nay?
The problem with your comment jeffsnyder is McCain said it'' 100 years in Iraq'' No one made it up. In case you have forgotten we are still in Iraq.
I do not want ANY politican who thinks it is okay to spend biliions every month on a fraudulent war for 100 years.
Secondly I taught Iraq is/was a legitimate issue.... I cannot see how lip stick on a pig is burning the $ or how it kills innocent civilians or our Amy forces.
Obama for Prez. Experience is overrated. Look at where W's experience has gotten this country. it's gotten the elite richer and us regular americans scraping for gas $... McCain's whole deal is a joke. If they Steal another election, God help us.
Let's Please get Obama into the White House,We need This man to be our Leader and President. He is the answer to all of our questions and the solution to all of our problems.
I don't mind so much the candidates going after one another regarding policies and ideologies. Makes for lively, substantive debates. But all of this silly lipstick and pig stuff and ads that outright lie are just unacceptable in my opinion.
All he was saying with the "lipstick on a pig" comment was that it was going to be more of the same thing we had with bush. McCain made the same exact comment about Hillary Clinton last year.
8 long years ago i told my fellow co-workers that unless they wanted the America to go to war with Iraq, they had better vote for Gore! 2 years ago i told my Republican brother-in-law that Barack Obama was going to be running for president! I can say now with a firm belief that this man will be the next president of the United States of America!! I am no fortune teller but i do have good commen sense and i pay attention to what is and has happined in the world. Say it with me PRESIDENT OBAMA!!
i cant really see how ppl would vote for mccain when his campaign manager says that this election would be defined by character not the issues, or when mccain says, and it says so in his website that he plans to make Bush's tax cuts permanent, or the way the define middle class, anyone making less than 5 millions per years? ppl enough is enough!!!!
We must stop playing these games and start healing America. No healing will happen with McCain/Palin. We need a new approach and brand new leadership. This time, we need Obama/Biden.
he never said that palin was the pig! the mccain camp is overreacting.. based on their reaction, they're actually the ones saying that palin is the pig lol

Do not, I repeat, do not let McCain get away with changing the subject. McCain is with Bush on the issues, he is not a "Maverick." He picked Palin to appeal to the far, far right of his party. Kerry didn't go after them like he should for these types of tactics, don't let them bully and lie their way out of the truth. Palin is scary, book banning, no abortion rights for incest and rape victims, and in her view God wanted our troops in Iraq. People must be brought back to the issues, to reality.
Lobbyists and corruption by some republicans? Hmmm. In my country, we take it very seriously to investigate and find the truth by making a choice to do something about it and carrying it out.
He is truly a real leader. You can tell he is always thinking from american's standpoint when he said American ppl would be the one endup losing.I truly admire him for being a decent human being with respect for others even when he got bad-mouthed by others during the campaign. He is the one who unites different ppl. That's what leaders do. We want to be in the UNITED state of America, not DIVIDED state of America.
Thanks for hitting them hard and sticking to the issues. Bush McCain and Palin have nothing to say but smears. I hope America wakes up and don't reward the Republicans with another 4 years.
I think he sees this nonsense for what it really is... modern day McCarthyism. It's a shame he can't start using that term to describe there tactics. It would be really fitting to lol McCain/McCarthy
If Obama loses this election due to John McCain's lies then I think this will really challenge the minorities in America. Here is a man who went to the best schools and did the best in his class, used his knowledge to help his community and state......And to have him lose to 2 brainless liars in McCain and Palin...Its like telling everyone that is not white, that you can be the best but you will never be able to get to the top just because you don't look like us.
everybody love Obama but the people that like him are not going to vote sad i know we need help with this mostly young people my age 18-24 but yea iam vote first time obama love him
We're not interested in distractions while Rome burns. But I have to say that every time I have ever walked into a corporate situation straight through the front door with candor and honesty, I NEVER got the results I wanted. The Repubs are going to run you ragged with their ready, shoot, aim tactics. Keep it real with the people, but get busy behind the scenes and start thinking about their slippery strategy. Otherwise, I shutter to think what will happen if that that lipsticked pig flies.
unfortunately for the democrats, the republican machine is defining obama as a celebrity, and as such they are beginning to refocus our celebrity worshiping culture on tabloid issues. we eat garbage celebrity news and then lick our fingers. if they continue to sell obama as they are defining him, forget about the presidency. stopping the republican marketing machine with integrity and 'lets talk about issues' works in the universities and cultural meccas but not with joe six pack. agree?
That's it.He needs to just focus on these real issues and hit McCain's campaign hard.Steve Schmidt, head of McCain's operations, and Karl Rove's protege (not my opinion, look it up on wikipedia)maybe a genius at spinning the facts and playing with poeple's minds but people need to realize that if McCain wins when the election is over, the policies of McCain and extreme views of Palin will dictate the next 4 years of America. The same views they rejected a couple of months ago;what's changed? Nothing.
I am scared if McCain does win this country is giong to b worst off then the last 8 years so people stop talking and become a register voter. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
I am a student on the University of Arkansas Campus and walking on campus today, chalked on the sidewalk I saw the phrase NOBAMA... I was sickened, i think it is enough! and people who are too blind and single minded to see that will drag the rest of us down if we don't step up and vote Obama in! So I say GOBAMA!!!!!
Thank you Obama for understanding what we are going through and understanding the state of this country. In all sectors of our education system, we are being outcompeted by other nations. It takes great strength to debate these issues than to go the cheap route and attack the opponent. To fight against that typical washington political campaign tactic is a true mavrick.
Thank you Obama for understanding what we are going through and understanding the state of this country. In all sectors of our education system, we are being outcompeted by other nations. It takes great strength to debate these issues than to go the cheap route and attack the opponent.
Ok so she's a Barracuda, She's a Pit-Bull...but no pig. lol I swear I feel like I'm living in the twighlight zone. It's about the future, the issues....so Swift Boat, so Karl Rove.
It's good that he is trying to take the high road, but if he had laughed at the New Yorker cover and said "yes, unfortunately many people do have this completely false impression of me" he would have been able to sidestep this 'controversy' a little better. Outrage goes both ways.
McCain just got owned. You tell em Obama! Its time to get serious about our problems. John McCain isn't serious, he thinks this is a game. Politics isn't a game John McCain. Peoples live hang in the balance, Obama takes our country's challenges serious therefore HE will get my vote.
I am excited that the Repubs Campaign Party thinks that America looks at this election as American Idol TV event.
Can they be that insulting to all of America?!?! Barack has every right to defend our intelligence. This "Lipstick" topic was engineered at the RNC. Barack keep speaking issues, We are with you!
Repubs Keep Up The Great Work! Hope you are using this time wisely... not putting lipstick on Barack's topics and calling them your own!
I want to say thanks to Senator Obama for staying focused on what's really important and not falling for the usual tricks of the far right. He's correct in saying that this is there usual pattern and I for one am happy that he recognizes it for what it is, another smokescreen for the Republicans to hide their failures behind.
"Enough" is just perfect. I'm so tired of all this sudden "feminism" on the side of republicans, a party that STILL thinks women should be payed less than men.
While I believe that we will win, RokniTime has a point. It worked four years ago, whose to say that it wont work again. We have to fight back, and make sure that the republicans don't get away with these smears. Why not put this smear, the smear on Obama's education policies, and whatever other smear in one ad and show America the twisted game the Republican party plays every four years, so that all PEOPLE can see. and dumb it down! We are all stupid!! that's what democrats need to understand"
If any Obama supporters are interested in helping me "convert" Ron Paul supporters, which there are a few 6+ million of them on youtube alone!!! More likely to vote Obama than McCain. (I was one of them and I have all the information you need). Send me a message and I will give you the "material". All you have to be able to do is COPY AND PASTE. Simple as that. Let's Barack the vote!
Obama is wonderful, it's really ashame, for the first time I'm excited to vote for someone. The publicans use slime and it's all the media picks up on.
God, so many ignorant people are buying the Republican's BS rather than doing research on issues and all the lies the GOP and media has been feeding the American people.
Even with his flaws, Barack still seems like a better candidate than a 72 year old, rich, "POW" that thinks our economy is strong.
Barack, repetition in politics is key. Pick a theme and hammer in about 10 commercials against McCain. First, talk about how he was wrong about not focusing on Afghanistan. Then the timetable, etc. Mention them consistently in all your rallies and townhalls. Then, talk about the swiftboating, and HAMMER down how this isn't "change". Consistensy is what is helping McCain right now, if you don't know. People believe ads. I know you don't want to believe it, but they do.
(cont) I for one believe a candidate should possess this fundamental knowledge BEFORE they campaign for the highest office in the land. If this person is going to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency, she needs to be able to answer tough questions about national politics without using a teleprompter. If she can't do that RIGHT NOW, she's not ready to be our leader.
I've seen so much Palin coverage in the last 2 weeks and I'm wondering why her absence of TV interviews and new speech content isnt being AGGRESSIVELY attacked by the Obama campaign. Her supporters are seemingly blindly supporting her based on her charisma and her gender. Nobody has demanded that she answer hard questions about national politics. Barack Obama went on O'Reilly and faced the tough questions, now its your turn Mrs. Palin.
Its sad how McCain and Palin can say whatever they want then they are never wrong McCain had the same "Lipstick" comment towards Hilary Clinton and back then he wasnt wrong. Now Obama says it and hes playing the sex card give me a break I am really getting scared that the Republicans are going to steal another election with lies and not focusing on the issues. Like Obama says we do this every 4 years and AMERICA falls for it everytime ENOUGH What will it take for America to wake up.
Way to call it like it is, Obama! I hope Americans will focus on the serious issues facing our nation and not these stupid, manufactured distractions.
man if republicans still think that statement was about palin what do they really think about her. "lipstick on a pig" is one of the oldest statements known to man!!! poor choice of words was when palin dissed people who help their community and she enjoyed doing it... OBAMA 08!!!
It's just pathetic. When this is the kind of thing people care about, and not bothering to look at the important things, what can you do? Do you stoop to their level? Or do you keep being decent? I'm glad Mr. Obama decided on the latter. It's just a shame that that doesn't count for much against the indoctrinated, the fact-avoiding intellectually dishonest.
This is definitely a different election. People are too involved not to get their facts straight. People are aware of the stakes and this only confirms why Obama should be president. Another smoke screen by McCain camp. Rick Davis said it- its not about the issues!! America- you don't need anymore proof. Per the own McCain campaign- IT IS NOT ABOUT YOU!! Don't fall for it!! They can't tell you about what they are going to do. Why would you want to hear the plot of a movie you have already seen.
for all independent voters you have a clear choice to choose and it is barack obama.john macain will give you exactly what mr bush is already giving you, 1 bad economy 2 iraq war.
Thank you for standing tall ...you make me feel as if I can change the world. You are the change I can believe in Mr. Obama. You have my vote!!!!... from the great state of Texas.
I would like to add that the phrase "lipstick on a pig" is an old saying in reference to car salesmen fixing up the the looks of a car when the car really doesn't work well.
The power the media holds in this country to sway people's opinion is scary. With their need to dramatize events and win ratings they have made the US elections in to a "reality show." I sincerely hope this time American voters will not get distracted, scared and manipulated into voting for the wrong candidate. Media people please help American citizens make the right decision this time. Barack Obama is the better candidate and the right wing media analysts should just accept the GOD dam fact!
I hope the news actually looks at this message for a change. All they've been doing is focusing on attack ads. Very few people actually watch your speeches sadly enough.
I am glad I will be a US Citizen on September 23rd, in time to register to vote, in time to elect another great President from Illinois. Abraham Lincoln freed slaved people in the USA (not all slaves were African), and I am proud to be able to part of the greatest movement of the 21st century.
This is beyond self-parody. There is no word for this.
So Obama said that McCain trying to wrap himself in the mantle of change was like putting lipstick on a pig. A phrase anybody with an English-comprehending brain knows means you are trying to dress something up as new/more appealing when in actuality you haven't change the essence of the thing (it's still a pig, with or without lipstick). Pig obviously bearing the connotation of dirty, muddy, filthy, etc.
Awesome response by Obama. The McSame camp should be ashamed over their tactics. MCCAIN IS LYING and proves again and again why Obama is correct when he says that McCain is merely more of the same.
McCain used the same saying, "lipstick on a pig" last year. McCain's politics are clearly ran by the same type of people who he swore against using. McCain is desperate...or else he would not have attacked Obama for saying this. Or attack Obama about wanting to teach children about sexual predators...An ad that made it seem that Obama was a pervert... this is nuts people. Why must Obama be attacked in such a way that it attacks the very core of his human being instead of his policies.
2 all that clearly hate Obama:I say don't be so lazy, check your facts before to post false info! To Obama supports: Let's stop wasting important time & volunteer with your local OBAMA Campaign!
The republicans have lost alot of votes because of their crude behaivior. They know good and well Mr.Obama wasnt even thinking about sarah palin.Senator obama is focuse on our future and keeping America in progressive motion. He said "You can put lipstick on a pig but its still a pig" Thats a famous statement."They say the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull is lip stick" Thats not a recognized statement I dont know who "they" are?
i'm so HONORED to see the future president in my school media center. he's such a great role model to young people across the world. change is what we need, and change is what we're going to get.
Age of retirement is 66 for every one even for McCain. By choosing Sarah he is thinking about himself not country. You should know I did vote for him 8 years ago not any more.
I totally agree!!!!!!!!

Otherwise, I shutter to think what will happen if that that lipsticked pig flies.

unfortunately for the democrats, the republican machine is defining obama as a celebrity, and as such they are beginning to refocus our celebrity worshiping culture on tabloid issues. we eat garbage celebrity news and then lick our fingers. if they continue to sell obama as they are defining him, forget about the presidency. stopping the republican marketing machine with integrity and 'lets talk about issues' works in the universities and cultural meccas but not with joe six pack. agree?
Everagus 3 years ago
That's it.He needs to just focus on these real issues and hit McCain's campaign hard.Steve Schmidt, head of McCain's operations, and Karl Rove's protege (not my opinion, look it up on wikipedia)maybe a genius at spinning the facts and playing with poeple's minds but people need to realize that if McCain wins when the election is over, the policies of McCain and extreme views of Palin will dictate the next 4 years of America. The same views they rejected a couple of months ago;what's changed? Nothing.

If she can't do that RIGHT NOW, she's not ready to be our leader.
sooocheesy 3 years ago

The world is waiting. America, for the sake of all of us, make sure this guy becomes your president!
I hope Barack starts getting angry & impassioned. He's at his best when he lets loose. He'll still have his integrity even if he takes his gloves off!
God forbid that we should have a Creationist a heartbeat away from the presidency. Muslim extremists on one side, Christian nutters on the other.
