  • @GaragebandandBeyond sry i cant speak good english haha but thnx for the answer. what is interact? i have mic and music interface i guess it called so.. i have novation 2|4

  • thanks! you are explaining this in a way that is suuuper easy to understand and it's awesome.

  • does anyone els think he is the only asian on youtube that is humble enough to not shred and make us feel bad?

  • Great info and good video for music recording beginners!

  • hey when i m recording usinga dynamic mic after d vocal r recorded there r surrrounding soung like shhhhh

    thanks :D

  • @Usuf1995 Try a new cable

  • this might be a stupid question but are moniters just speakers lol

  • @EpicWeaponries They are but their purpose is to provide a crisp sound so that you can detect any background noise or anything you wouldn't want in your song. I hope this helped! I wouldn't just use a cheap little iHome or speaker.

  • thanks for the tip, really helps!

  • Hello there I liked your video, is cool... but can you please help me with this, how can i get loops or free loops for garage band.. Thanks a lot

  • I'm new to this, I would like to know what to use to record both acoustic an electric guitar. I don't know if this is relevant to what kind of sound recording equipment I need but I have a marshall. I see emprinted righting that reads JCM 2000- 60w and tsl602. Please help, I would like to be able to record my music.

  • i just want to mix simple beats on the app for my iphone 4. and add guitar and produce on a cd therefore only a cheap mic, my phone, my guitar and my rap lyrics. any idea on how to make my beats?

  • Hi Again Lewin. Unfortunately, I could not find them anywhere. The Plantronics switch. Discontinued long ago. Let me explain you my problem. I have the Sound card Maudio Fast track 2 and i have my monitors pluged, in the outs of the sound card and there's a headphone plug on the front. When i wanna to ear my monitors i have to unplug the jack of the phones. How can i do to switch betweem them without unplug and plug anytime i want to switch? Thank you very much and i hope u understand my issue.

  • HI Lewin. I'm from Portugal (Europe). Can you please, please, please tell me where can i fins a Plantronics Monitor/Headphone switch to my home studio? If u can please reply me. Thank you very much and love your reviews!!! See u soon. Cheers from Portugal.

  • what do you use if you dont have garage band???

  • what do i need, ( give the brands and models :D). i need 2 mics for piano, one small dia and large dia. and one for vocal, what are good brands and models for these? less than $500

  • @BNROEC Watch my video called "How to record an upright piano". It will answer all your questions!

  • @GaragebandandBeyond what app is used for recording besides garageband? (THE BEST)

  • @BNROEC Pro Tools is the most common. There's also Logic, Cubase, Reaper, FL, and a long list.

  • @GaragebandandBeyond hey man can i have ur email or anything . i wanna ask u something . about what u suppose me to do . plz answer !

  • @GaragebandandBeyond yes, i watched it, but whats the interface? give me the EXACT interface, 3 ports for the three mics.

  • @BNROEC There are several interfaces with multiple inputs. I would suggest you do some shopping online and do your own research. FYI Nothing has only 3 XLR inputs that I am aware of. You'll be looking at interfaces with 2 channels, 6 channels, 10 channels etc.... I like Presonus products, but Tascam also makes some good things.

  • @GaragebandandBeyond I got a Tascam US-800 recently. I'm far from a pro, but I'm VERY pleased with it. They can be had for $100 with a little research now. 6 XLR inputs and 2 midi. It has worked flawlessly for me so far.

  • heyy man i like ur video.. btw, wot software do u use to make this videos? with all the animations at the start and what not.. ? thnkx. :)

  • @gospeltruthteller Adobe After Effects

  • how is the fast track pro compared to the mbox 2? I'm working on getting a small portable setup on my laptop and i'm not sure which route to go

  • MAN you look like a young version of Snape from Harry Potter

  • @R3yK1d i was just about to say this then i saw it. -.-

  • @R3yK1d real talk yo

  • Would you recommend the MXL V63M to record singing and rapping?

  • audio interface or mixer ?? i want to record my e-guitar through a microphone..

  • Comment removed

  • That was awesome!!! Very informative!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!!!

  • hi there, please tell me what's the real need for using the monitor speakers than the original ones

  • @spooky599 No worried. You should check out my "How to build a home recording studio - FOR BEGINNERS" video. That is a good way to get started with not very much money.

  • @GaragebandandBeyond Ok thanks.

  • scuse me can you help me or can you teach me how to recording and to edit the voice better??

    my microphone samson CO1U USB.

AND i use program cool edit pro.

    thank you

  • Cool Video and Thanks for the advice ...really helped....... two thumbs up!!

  • the sm58 and sm57 do have different frequency responses. Use a decent mic pre and you'll be able to hear a world of difference.

  • I was under the impression the SM 58 has been around since 1958, and likewise the 57, am I wrong ???

  • i have a quick question, does getting a usb interface help much or not? Because i record on a laptop.

  • @kingqzer yes it does, the analog input of a laptop isnt good enough for recording music. so. get a usb interface, if only you will use it, get a 2 ins or maybe 4 ins interface, i recommend the brand Avid/Digidesign, are pretty good.. but, if you going to have a lot of instruments at same time, get a mixer with 16 or more ins :D

  • @TrochezCovers thanks alot. i have a mixer with 8 ins.

but i was thinking of buying behringer uca202 audio usb interface. would you recomend that ?

  • @kingqzer the uca202 is probably enough for a small gig, but, keep in mind, that you will only record stereo multitrack or 1 track at time, if your mixer only have 2 stereo out, you have no choice by record stereo, but, if your mixer have 1 out per in, i mean, 8 in 8 out, you can plug it to a 8 ins 8 out usb interface. is a bit expensive. but you can record 8 channels in your DAW at once. and mixer em individualy, so. is your choice man. :D if you are solist, go for the 202 or maybe a line 6 ux2

  • @kingqzer one more thing, if you are using a DAW (digital audio workstation) like, protools, presonus studio, cockos reaper etc. you can use plug ins or vsti like guitar rig, maschine etc, this is for a digital way of getting great sound at low price. google it for more information, but this will save you money if you are not intending to be a real pro.

this will save you money in drums, guitar amps and effects, keys, syths, many things, there are intruments and effects of this VSTI.. :P

  • @TrochezCovers : hey thanks alot man, im a rapper. qzermusic dot kom

i need to perfect my vocal quality not much. but thanks alot for the tip bro. appreciate it.

  • isnt the samson co1u a condenser mic aswell

  • Nerd!

  • Do you only record with one microphone, because the M audio only had one mic input doesnt it?

  • THATS WHAT SHE SAID ;D 7:23

  • are monitors real necesary?

  • I have a couple questions, so the monitors work as the computers speakers correct (ex: for iTunes, correct?) Not just specifcally for recording? And I'm getting an iMac soon and was wondering if my instruments and Garageband is enough for putting songs together, or should I buy an interface like M-box,etc. for making full songs. And last question is there a way you can run your own amp and effects setup with your guitar into the Mac or do you have to use the virtual amps and effects on the Mac?

  • one question!

why some people have like 2 or 3 tv's connected to the tv????

    and you just have one?

can you help me with that please

  • what computer would you reccomend as in how many GB?

  • what woul dyou recommend for simple voice work- condenser or dynamic mic?

  • would you recommend chinch or xlr outputs for the audio interface? =)

  • as for the monitor/headphone switch, you can always set up an aux in your software to monitor your cue/mains and set your I/O's accordingly with a cue send and main outs, then all you do is mute your track group but leave the sends on to monitor in headphones exclusively. If you have any decent software that has full I/O config & you are willing to actually learn how to use it, you shouldnt need to spend extra money on something like a headphone/monitor switch. (directed at readers not uploader)

  • where did you got the free piano? i didn't understand what you said

  • Hi nice video..just wanna ask a quickquestion. I have the behringer C01u microphone into my laptop. The problem is when I use it with any DAW after about 1.5 mins of recording the processor overloads. and the playback or direct monitoring in DAW slows down giving huge clipping sound. Even using a powered hub did not help. While everything seems fine when recording directly to audacity. Is it because of ASIO driver or something, Can you throw some light even if you are using the Samson usb. thnkx

  • Thanks Music-Guru .. :)

  • Thanks for your video :)

  • sup snape

  • You remind me of Severus Snape.

  • How much would it roughly cost to make a home studio w/ a condenser mic, excluding all instruments?

  • @girlScape Watch my video called “how to build a home recording studio for beginners”. In that video I give a shopping list with prices for a beginner home recording studio.

  • @girlScape come through to my page and check out my home recording studio and how i built it. its official and def wasnt rocket sicence.

  • @girlScape i made the mistake of going and spending money before doing research big mistake spent like 1,000 dollars for the same sound all you really need is around 300 bucks and a music software program so you might really wanna research before spending

  • Great video helped me learn a few new things to help me start making my home studio.

  • Okay ..... Make Info Videos ........ Seriously ,, I Mean Make Videos On How To Set Up The Recording Studio......... How To Record..... Ughhh....... P.S

U HAVE A BIG NOSE !! (not being rude)

  • Is that a "swiffer" duster at 7:44? Was a great addition to my studio!

  • Hi I have a question I can on a regular laptop with a professional microphone? on a Windows

  • very informative.. check out my music! i promise you won't regret it

  • what about the windows doesnt sound bounce or sound bad if you have a lot or there not covered?

  • @skulkruncher122 if you record drums, if you have them, cover the windows with curtains. It will give a 'dry' sound, (wich is good).

  • Wow, never knew that switching from 360p to 480p made such a big difference in the audio quality. The hi hat in the beginning was really muffled on 360p but in 480p it just pops right out!

  • I don't have mac, what other PC can i use?

  • I liked when you wiped your nose with the Shure Beta 58 1:00

  • what is the best two channel usb audio interface for like 100 bucks??!?

  • Comment removed

  • fastfret ftw!

  • Hey I'm planning to buy an interface to record vocals and guitar. Is the m-audio good to start with? An alternative would be the tascam us-100, of which I couldn't find much info on the internet. Youve got some nice videos up there, you already gave me some good tips. Keep up the good work!

  • Good stuff dude!

  • Hey, I have been a DJ in 3 months, and now i will try to make my own music, but i need a good software. Do you know somthing about that?

  • Hey i just got my rode nt1-a and i plugg it into my m-audio fast track but i dont get any sound from it its just a blank signal do you have any idea of why its that way

  • @johan130519995 Is the phantom power on? if so and if you're using Garageband do a search on YouTube for my video called "Garageband Help Troubleshooting. Why don't you hear anything?" it should help you!

  • @GaragebandandBeyond how do i know the phantom power is on? there are no lights on the mikrofon and on the m-audio fast track there isent showed a singel signal from the mic

  • Hey,man..i wanna ask you something..is the condenser mic used only for recording vocals? Is it possible to record an electric guitar with the CO1U Condeneser mic? Will appreciate it if you answer!

  • @ChickMagnetMusic2011 Yes you can record electric guitar with that mic.

  • hey man do you need a desktop mac or could you use a macbook pro for a studio?

  • @MrSirron1234 You can really use either, depends on your budget. However I will say that I like my desktop to work on better than my Macbook.

  • hey i have the co1u and i turned up microphone volume and it still records low

  • Thank you so much for reccomending the Bx5a's! I picked up a pair of the Bx5a deluxes yesterday at Guitar Center, and I already love them! I reccomend these to anyone that wants a good pair of monitors.

  • hey im sure a lot of people would like to know as well so how are you with your neighbors and the whole soundproofing thing? could you give any tips on how to soundproof your studio a little more?

  • Great session and info thanks for sharing

  • @drummer332257 Do a search for my other video called "How To Build a Home recording studio FOR BEGINNERS" That will have what you need.

  • SUBBBBEEEDDD

  • Put me in your room and I'll absorb the reverb.

  • are you rich .-.

  • DO NOT remove that metal screen! are you fucking crazy! the plastic diaphragm is very delicate and will NOT take a fall ! if you want to use that mike safely with out the metal screen you have to remove off that thin layer of foam carefully from the inside without breaking it and save it somewhere safe so you can reuse it later. that will slightly increase you highs but then you will get more popping and wind. the screen is there for a damn reason! other than that the video is cool .

  • 1. It sounds different when I mix with my headphones and after that turning the speakers on. Which one should I trust?

    2. I'm a female and i have airy voice, with excessive treble. How you master that type of vocal in the mixing?

Thank you. Your vids r awesome!

  • he sounds like david schwimmer! Especially when he did Madagascar haha

  • how can you record multiple tracks simultaneously in GB

. I have 2 samson usb mics and was wondering if this was possible.

  • hey what's the model of your USB hub?

  • With all the respect you deserve man i'm saying this, AND I'M NOT A HARRY POTTER FAN OR ANY OTHER THING! just saying xD, You just look like Snape in his younger days! lol, but going to the video topic, this was very very! useful! and lot of tips that makes it more useful indeed, Thanks for sharing and peace!

  • thank u

  • dude are you friddew's brother ??

  • wayyyyyyy to much reverb in there. you need more acoustic foam. good video though

  • @DjCalliber The camera audio at that time was not good, the room sounds fine. Listen to my recordings on the SunshineSupermanPA channel. Plus I would never want a dead sounding room.

  • @GaragebandandBeyond yeah your music sounds solid but I can still hear a little bit reverb on the piano and the guitar. Have you ever been to a professional recording studio. I'm not saying your not professional but just because you have alot of acoustic foam or bass traps it doesn't mean that the room will sound "dead" you actually get better quality sound. Plus just cus it's a bad camera mic doesn't mean that your not hearing the sound bounce all over the wall and the ceiling.

  • @DjCalliber Of course you hear reverb on the piano and guitar! I like it that way. Have I ever been to a real recording studio.... I engineered at Stepbridge Studios (Studio A) in Santa Fe New Mexico. Look it up.

  • @SunshineSupermanPA sighhhhhh...... whatever dude, I was just letting u know that your room has much more reverb than in most every recording studio I've been in. just sayin.

  • There is MANY countries you can't get a free piano..

  • u can't get a free piano in Denmark on craigslist in denmark

  • Comment removed

  • @idreamtofflight The SM57 in NOT a condensor.

  • @GaragebandandBeyond oh wow, my mistake, could have sworn it was D:

  • @idreamtofflight are you high the 57 is not a condensor

  • @ParapetStudios super high bro, definitely didnt just make a mistake or something

  • snape look alike

  • i have a fender frontman 25r amp. if i were to take a standard 1/4 guitar cable and put one end of it in the headphone jack of the amp and the other end in the m audio fast track linein/guitar, would it work?

  • what kind of cable to you use for your shure mic. a xlr male to a rca male or do you use something else. i have one of those but its just been put up because we don't have a cable for it and i'm not sure what cable to get for it.

  • @IAmKaeBee I use and XLR male -> XLR Female cable. It all depends on what your plugging it into. However most interfaces want XLR cables.

  • the problem is a have a MXL 990/991 Mic and now it says that i need a power supply for my mic and i dont know wich one i should buy i dont want something like pro is just to record my voice nothing really important and i dont want something xpensive .what should i do ??

  • @lomellopaola well you need +48v for your MXL990. The Fast track you mentioned before has what you need. If you have the Fast Track (new version) you don't need an external power coz it's all in the interface.

  • @lomellopaola You need something with Phantom power (+48v). I like the Presonus AudioBox USB. It's cheap, sounds decent and has Phantom power!

  • @GaragebandandBeyond what is the foam called

  • wondeful thumb up for those idiots whu dislike this

  • I love your channel so much! your helping alot of people that are trying to get things straitened out with there music. you help alot... and i really hope you never stop posting videos :) i just want to say thank you so much for all of your help, keep up the good work please :D

  • what recording software do u use

  • I wanna buy the M-audio fast track that comes with Pro tools on it do you think i can use it with Cube base 4 too ??? ... and another question i have this power supply BEHRINGER PS 400 do you think it works with it ??..., Thank you

  • @lomellopaola The fast track comes with a very basic protools 8 if I am not mistaken. Anyways it should not have any problem working with any DAW (in this case Cubase) you install.

The PS400 sucks. I'd use the Fast track's Phantom.

  • Hey, thanks for this awesome video, it helped me out. but i have a question. is there difference in sound quality of USB and XLR cable Condenser microphones? well my thinking goes like this, XLR is more like analog signal and USB is more digital signal, and i have heard that analog sound is better quality. is this true? or they both are the same, its just the way you preffer to connect your mic's???

  • @LostinFall Hey, To your question about Analog and Digital, well the analog sound back at the days was warmer and people played less with the EQ and more with the accoustics, so technicaly it would be unfair to say the digital has lower quality. today the systems are fast enough to record more DATA at a given time so the quality is pretty good. regarding USB and XLR... My gut tells me that XLR gives a more natural sound although the membrane is the same and the interface and DAW are digital.

  • what do you think is the best condenser microphone, i am looking to record very clear vocals that could also be used to record guitar

, also could you request other equipment like interfaces etc?

i want very clear vocals like Alex Goots (youtube artist)

  • @xMasterryanx Look at the CAD Trion 8000

  • @GaragebandandBeyond they don't seem to be available in the UK

anything else that you would recommend

  • classic desk.

  • Dude... ive got the m-audio fast track but it doesnt have phantom power... how do u connect ur condenser mic directly into ur interface???

  • @GaroDelgado you can either buy an external phantom power source OR what I did was buy a Presonus AudioBox USB for about the same price, but hen also got 2 channels.

  • How much does it cost to make a whole entire recording studio? Oo And , is it OK if I just use half of my room for the studio and another half for my bedroom?

  • @ChristineSMTOWN Usually a home recording studio is half studio half home. which means it's all together. your room with studio equipment would be a typical home studio.

Your question regarding the cost of a whole studio is like asking how much does a car cost.

A legit studio with a recording room and a control room and all the instruments in house could start from 10000 bucks to millions...

  • hey do you think i should get a audio interface like yours because i just got a behringer 1204 usb mixer and its not helping at all. or do you think i should plug the mic into the interface and run a cable from the interface into the mixer do you think itll sound great

  • @monstadakid if you can connect a mic directly to the audio interface, then that's what you do. connecting the mic to the behringer which is connected to the audio interface..... pointless. you will loose quality.

what audio interface are you using?

  • @GidonRicardo well i just started so im a noob lol but i dont have a mbox interface or anything i just have the mixer because thats what the guys told me at muscians friend.com told me...so i got a mxl 990 mic a behringer 1204usb mixer and mackie mr5 monitors

and the program acid music studio 8.0 and no matter what i do the sound sounds terrible when i record my vocals it sound like i did it on my phone. so should i ditch something and get something else? new software?im all ears i need help

  • @monstadakid I would not use the mixer at all. I would plug straight into the interface if I were you!

  • This is great dude. But can you tell me if the Presonus 1box is good for a start? I mean.. I heard that there is some hissing when you are recording, but I don't know what this depends on. Can you tell me?

  • @evilproPL The 1BOX is fine. it's a low budget audio interface that does what it's suppose to do.

every audio interface has some amount of hissing but it depends on a lot of things... like the cables, the quality of the electricity, the instrument/mic that is connected directly. a bad cable can make so much noise you'd think some one is taking a shower.

as I said the 1box is just fine to work with.

  • Thanks very much for this video. Cos my budget is low and there's space constraint, can i actually create a home recording studio in my bedroom?

  • @iwannatravelthewurld I am not the uploader but I'll reply as well. Yes you can.

the Idea of a recording studio is the ability to record vocals and instruments in high quality and edit them in order to create music. all you need is a good computer (doesn't have to be monstrous) an audio interface (not the shity one on board and not sound blaster) a Micro phone and to sound monitors.

technically you'd need about 1500 bucks to start with... but it's only the beginning.

  • @GidonRicardo Thank you for your help. I just bought a 200 bucks condensor mic and an audio interface. So must I install the audio interface or how do I even start recording?

  • @iwannatravelthewurld No problem. yes. 1st you connect the audio interface and make sure it works. you need at least a set of head phones so you could hear that it works. Just play something on a Media player. this should indicate that it works. Now what you need is a DAW. A DAW is a program used to produce music for example, Cubase, Protools, Reaper, Samplitude etc...

After all is installed and configured, connect the mic and play with it a little. learn the system.

  • @iwannatravelthewurld a cheap and yet nice daw is reaper. and you can test drive it before you buy

  • what mixer do you use?

  • i went to graigs list and didnt find a piano

  • Very good video. Very informative. I've had engineers at RCA Studio B who couldn't explain things as well as you. Best of luck.

  • BUT DUDE.... by the sound of your video, the acoustics in your room are horrible.

I do believe that your intentions are good so respect to you.

I spent about 10000 bucks on EVERYTHING you see here:

    watch?v=X2pCcv9plRU

built it all by my self. it's a way to save money. :)

  • @GidonRicardo well.... the audio in this video was recorded with the shitty camera Mic. So it's not a fair representation of the sound, especially since the camera was in the doorway... however... please listen to the music I create in this little space before you judge the studio. You can listen here /watch?v=kjO6T2VgwNg
