  • im going to do this for school project, any tips?

  • i curbed my altezza quite badly and will du anything to get it fixed cause i love my ride. What tools did you use to restore the rims.

  • How much does a job like the one in the video cost? I have a 1999 acura tl with alloy rims that are scuffed a litte bit worse than the ones in the video. Thanks

  • What do you do for a rim like that if it has clearcoat over the aluminum?

  • what kind of buff wheel is that your using to polish it with? Brand?

  • lol, mine are scratched WAY worse than this, gonna have to gettem welded and lathed me thinks

  • does any shop do this?? I messed up my wheels and parents havent noticed yet.. how much would this cost?

  • ya it was real icey up here and when i hit the brakes my car went side ways and hit the curb pretty hard...now every time i drive the whole car wobbles..........

  • COMO AS ECHO ESO? QUE MAKINA ES EESA? Y LA ESPONJA ESA COMO SE LLAMA?SE PODRIA AZER CON UN TALADRO?

  • uh... this is stupid your just taking shit off the rims and then buff it out looks like new the rims wont looks even when it's spinning

  • @xaznboi1989x obviously you dont know what your talking about...they do look even you have to feather it in which he did on the video...and if making good money for fixing peoples wheels is stupid then I guess fixing paint, dents, windshields and anything else on a car would be stupid too and all bodyshops and mobile guys should just close their businesses.

  • I presume a re-balance would be necessary after having rims repaired due to curb damage?

  • @jcadlols Not like you would think. On the other hand, if you're wheel is severely damaged or bent, yes it would need re-balancing.

  • you need a hbk

  • man , i dont know what you meam rust or oxidation but the toyota and lexus alloy rums they have beem a big problem , without reason they are pealling off and we cam see under the painthing some kind off rust and affter sand they still have porus like oxidation ... whatever they got problem and need to get refinish

  • i think im gonna do this for my macbook pro

  • i bought 18 rims black with red lead last week and i fuck up one rim today at the sidewalk ..just like the scion in the video looks .... will that work for my situation!?

  • WOULD THIS WORK ON CHROME RIMS?

  • @PurpleXity1 Well if I am wrong, why I haven't seen an aluminum wheel or a piece of anything aluminum rust? You know, you should really let go about trying to be right. You might actually become happy. Thanks again.

  • @PurpleXity1 There's a big difference between rust and oxidation. Rust happens on iron and steel. Oxidation does happen on aluminum and can be fixed mush easier than rust by polishing. I would go back to your school and ask for your money back and get a degree that matters.

  • @PurpleXity1 Read again buddy, I said aluminum does not rust, not oxidize. There is a big difference. Thanks for the blah - blah - blah explanation but we don't leave raw aluminum exposed. I own i forged wheels with aluminum (in the video) and repaired over 5 times with no problems. I appreciate your input but thanks anyway.

  • awesome job, I have an old set of Volk CV pros arriving tomorrow that I will be refurbing (first time). This video has just given me hope that it can be done because that was some pretty bad curbing. Well done!!

  • what about balanceing it surely it is off kilter you removed some material????

  • amazing!!!! wow where did you get the tools to repair this? would love to know so when I come across this problem I can fix it myself.

  • Is it true that a clear coated machined wheel is impossible to get to match to its original look (little lines like an old vinyl record) if you get a curb rash?

  • @Rob02150 anyone respond to your question yet? i took mine out to the dealer and they fucked it up. repainted it for me, but the paint job is shitty as fuck

  • wow dude!

    im amazed. VERY NICELY DONE!

  • whats the machine called you used to sand the alloy scratches down

  • good job

  • what kind of grit do i use for my silver racing rims?thanks

  • Great video! I just polished the lip on my Corvette wheels thanks to the information on your video. The results were amazing! From machined finish to nearly chrome in just a few simple steps! Wow! Thanks again!

  • anyone out here in NY..upstate ny 13357

  • why has the repair not been finished. surley you would have to lacqure it to protect it from the elements or it would just rust

  • @perthdougie Wrong. This is a high polished aluminum wheel. There is no clear on this type of wheel and second, aluminum doesn't rust.

  • don't you normally take the wheel off to repair it?

  • @donnykaraoke Only if it's bent or if it is a machined wheel. Scratched wheels we do not have to remove.

  • Im looking to have some alloy rims refinshied , are they're any places in New jersey u are affiliated or can reccomend?

  • no you will sand through the chrome.they will need re chroming

  • hey if mine rims has some chrome i have to do the same thing or what

  • ptaker762...why did you comment.you clearly know nothing about metal polishing.its nothing like paint. you need different tools, different sanding pads, different grades of mops, different grades of mopping soaps. im a metal polisher and do rims also.this is the proper way to do rims.you need to know what mops to use with what soap. if you dont know anything about it then dont comment.this is a great vid.

  • @caliturbodreamer my is250 rims got curbed twice and they weren't even done by me but by my sister.. how much does it cost to do it? im guessing not much but still just wondering because i want a new set of rims sometime later

  • @trousien

The price it self is 140$-160$ to delete the scratch but if your tires fucked up 400$ total

  • i recently polished my alloy rims like this but had to remove the clear coat first i used a paint stripper gel works great dosent run or drip just wel mask up the part of the wheel u dont want to take the paint off of and u dont have to re apply the clear pertective coat back on, much better without it and easy to repair everytime mine are aluminium rims i just put on wheel wax buff them up and they have been perfect for a long time now and its ice cold here in britain raining all the time too

  • This will work fine in San Diego, but that finish would be toast after one Chicago winter. How do you re-apply clear urethane?

  • Funny.. our customers seem to think so? Lets be real, if it can't hold up in the cold or any type of weather than we would have been out of business years ago. Please don't assume we only do work in San Diego. Our affiliates do work all over the States.

  • not very good tutorial of how to restore alloys.

the video is to far out to see exactly how its done.

everything is done to fast to catch stage by stage .

  • That's funny, where does it say it's a tutorial? FYI it's not a tutorial, it's a demonstration about how wheel repair is performed. That's how it was produced and cut.

  • orale eso si que es util!!!!!

  • anyody with knowledege of body work can do this, just sand till smooth not too much dont go crazy with it,its the same as wet sanding clear coat then buffing but ur doing metal or aluminum the finer the paper the better it is goin shine

  • damn. wish you were in colorado springs. i just bought an audi a4, with these sweet enkei's, but the previous owner... failed. all 4 rims have TERRIBLE curb rash.

  • i have 4 alloy land rover rims that i need to fix because a mud pit scratched them, will this fix just the lip or everything? will this change the weight of my rims?

  • so how much $ is that work

  • what music did you use?

  • this requires wheel balancing

  • Who told you that? Bent wheel repair requires balancing, not curb rash repair.

  • Tonight, I just curb rashed one of my $170 machined face rims. The curb rash looked just like the one in this video but smaller. I was just wondering, how much do you think it can cost me to get it fixed? Or should I just order in a new one. I just got these rims not even 2 months old yet. Please and thank you.

  • oh wow haha need to do my rims!

  • can you do this on chrome rims ?

  • im thinking of doing this my self in the uk an have a couple of questions about tools, the poloshing tool was that just a grinder with a polishing head? also what capasity air tank do you use on you compressor? im hoping to do this out the back of a van so all tips and help much appriciated

  • is there a hard clear coat that the factory puts on there? what do you do about that?

  • Shoot a the clear coat of coarse.

  • well? what do you do about the clear coat?

does ya puts it back on or twhat?

  • YES. We would not stay in business very long if we didn't when needed. The wheel repair you see now was on a polished Iforged wheel with no clear coat. Some wheels are clear coated and some are not. If we repair a wheel that comes factory with clear, it will be restored just as it was brand new. So to answer you question, yes!

  • does it reapair 22 inch rims

  • its not a chrome wheel bro, its a paint face with a polished lip.

  • beatuiful but what did you use to get the chrome back in like that rubber thing or what is that??? but nice jobb

  • very nice!!!

  • 2500 grit.

  • Wow, you did an awesome job on that xb's wheels. How fine was the sandpaper you used?
