@TheNbedelemuniz You're right, what was I thinking? Chick Corea can't hold a candle to Jay Z's virtuosic keyboard technique, and Flora Purim isn't even in the same the league with Kanye's 8 octave vocal styling.
check out my version of this piece on my channel, which I have titled '500 Kilometers Mas Alta' ; i play guitar (influenced by allan holdsworth, pat metheny) and bass (influenced by jaco, jeff berlin)
my jazz history text book is telling me that stanley clarke is playing electric bas on this track...i do not believe this to be true however...anyone know the truth? I seek truth.
A previously posted cut of this same track was accompanied by scenic shots intercut with what I can describe only as cheesy, "sword and sorcery" inspired 70's van art. That says Chick Corea to me, all right! That version was removed from Youtube (unfortunately!)
Thanks for posting this version. I had it on a cassette in the Walkman Jazz series. The cassette had this and Captain Senor Mouse on it, but those are the only tracks I can remember. The cassette is long gone, unfortunately. Music like this got me through ten years of living in small-town Saskatchewan in the 80s and 90s.
all music is real

@evanomono You can hear that every other note is out of pitch, and it doesn't sound like a fretless bass, it has to be a double bass.
guitareluver 2 months ago
@evanomono that book needs to be corrected! no electric bass can growl that much, except for electric uprights, which weren't an option then...
