@zabraoota As a referee myself, we don't think we are right 100%. We make good and bad calls, and because you see the great camera angles from home doesn't mean we see that on the field. We sometimes make calls that we regret or second guess, but we have to stick with it, because once a call is made, we can't just undo it.

If you were ever forced to make a game-changing decision in a world cup final in less than a second when you've had no replay and a poor view of the incident to begin with, I think you would understand that being an official is not nearly as easy as you think.

Fines will not change that because fines will not give them a second look at a bad tackle or a better angle to see if the ball went over the line. And if they couldn't threaten with yellow cards they'd be abused by players after every decision, even if they got it right.

@dimitger1 because players have the choice whether or not to act up after a bad call. If they harass the officials and delay the game, they are doing it intentionally. The punishment is to keep them from doing it again. Referees are not punished for most mistakes because they do not do it on purpose and are going to do it again whether they are punished or not. And red card? When does a player get a red for simply complaining? I've seen Tevez blatantly shove an official and not even get yellow.

If you want to punish officials for inadvertently making bad calls, would you also want to punish a player for bumping into an official or stepping on his foot on accident? And if you think making offside decisions is easy, I suggest you become a linesman full time so you can fully appreciate the abuse you'll get, even when you get the call right.
