I've been told that the tissue expansion is an option, so it was interesting to see how it progresses. I got hit by a car in 1998. The guy took off and left me with my head bleeding and both bones in my lower leg hanging out of my body...I now have a huge scar on my lower leg and a rod to keep the bones sturdy. God Bless You, girl...
the whole restoration - including the hair transplant - will cost many, many thousands of dollars. insurance doesn't cover 'cosmetic', but i guess they do cover restorative in the event of an accident while under coverage.
They covered my surgery because it's not considered cosmetic. It's reconstructive and my dr talked to them so they would cover it. It is right it does cost a lot. So far it has been about $100,000 that my insurance has covered.

I'm sorry I'm sooo confused. Which eye is the scar over...because in different videos and even in this one from my perspective it switches from left to right. For example in this video the scar is on the left side but from 2:11 to 2:26 it seems to be on the right side. Maybe its the angle or the camra or something thats throwing me off

I think I have a forehead scar that require tissue expander. I needed to have the tissue expander because the scar was too big and my skin was too tight for a them to revise with the skin I had. So they had to grow new tissue. I had the procedure done in Camden, NJ at cooper hospital by the plastic surgery dept.
It hurt alot. I was on percocet for the entire time just to function. It's hard to say was it worth it because by time the surgery came about I was used to the scar, however it was being paid for so I was said why not.

Hey, you can go to the salon and have a haircut with a frange. The hair will cover up your scar pending the end of your scar revision journey. You can do the fringe, i see u have long hair and the style is pretty nice, a lot of people do it

Wow.. Percocet for 3 months? That's no joke, That's some serious pain for you to bypass Vicodin or OxyContin, but those tissue-expanders can be very painful. I had just assumed the discoloration around your forehead was a birthmark. Now I am more educated. lol Thanx for sharing.

I am in the process of going through tissue expansion right now and it is not easy. I have two large expanders (800 ml) in each side of my abdomen, that will be used to replace a large skin graft I have. I am about half way through the expansion process. It is very difficult to conceal them, but it must have been harder for you since it was on your face. Thanks for sharing your journey and good luck!

it definately looks better afterwards but the part that kinda baffles me is that it seems as if the scar that was made from removing the expander ended up being worse than the scar left from the actual accident. that scar is completely gone almost.
btw, this has nothing to do with the scar but your hair is beautiful when it's curly.

Hey, you can go to the salon and have a haircut with a frange. The hair will cover up your scar pending the end of your scar revision journey. You can do the fringe, i see u have long hair and the style is pretty nice, a lot of people do it

Wow.. Percocet for 3 months? That's no joke, That's some serious pain for you to bypass Vicodin or OxyContin, but those tissue-expanders can be very painful. I had just assumed the discoloration around your forehead was a birthmark. Now I am more educated. lol Thanx for sharing.

I had a bike accident in Central Park when I was sixteen and it left me with three scars on my face. I use to be so self conscious about them. I still get frustrated every now and then, but after seeing your video it gave me courage! Thank you so much for sharing your story!

After the car accident I got passed the whole embarrassing thing. It did hurt I was on percocet for 3 months.

I am in the process of going through tissue expansion right now and it is not easy. I have two large expanders (800 ml) in each side of my abdomen, that will be used to replace a large skin graft I have. I am about half way through the expansion process. It is very difficult to conceal them, but it must have been harder for you since it was on your face. Thanks for sharing your journey and good luck!

no it's not harmful to the muscles, but I did have alot of headaches because the implant was on a nerve, but all is okay now.

it definately looks better afterwards but the part that kinda baffles me is that it seems as if the scar that was made from removing the expander ended up being worse than the scar left from the actual accident. that scar is completely gone almost.
btw, this has nothing to do with the scar but your hair is beautiful when it's curly.
i'm glad you're better tho.
