Awe, how sweet! Koolaid talks very well. I'm jealous. ;)
Reminds me a bit of one of my Lovebirds, Skittles, harassing Monty, my cockatoo, for food! Skits means business, though. He usually just mauls Monty's food and makes off with the booty. >.>
I have an indian ringneck.. he is so pretty!! He is about 1 and a half years old and has blue eyes!! He is such a chicken though because i also have a black cap conure who likes to be in charge, and usually chases him down the cage, but we put him on time outs.... i cant wait until he will be able to talk good like Bowie!
My parrotlet talks when I play koolaid's video! Mine is getting territorial of the top of his cage and charging and biting me :( Do you have any suggestion with that?
@rjpthomas put him back in the cage when he does that. no treats for bad behaviour but don't leave him feeling bad for too long. just don't reward the bad stuff.
I need someone to help me my two parrotlets literally follow each otger around the cage but hate hands, there getting a little better but not much, i need a little help.
@alexanderman3916 you have to train them seperately. hard to do when they're paired up but if you have someone take care of one while you train the other that might work?
@horsycos88 nope, i had him dna'd at 10 weeks and this video is old - he's only 3 mo here; he's now 2.5 yrs old. my updated vids show him with his nice ring :)
@jxh0703 hehehe i saw in the description that bowie is scared of koolaid. wat damage did he do b4 that made bowie scared of him?i'd lyk u to tel me so i can avoid letting my ringneck(peach)get hurt from a parrotlet like koolaid becuz i would like to take care of my avian vet's parrotlet while she's outta town. do they also cause damage to tiels and budgies cuz i'd like all my birds to be safe all the time
I LOVE watching all of Koolaid's videos; he's adorable!! I have a parrotlet named Fabio, and he's about 1 1/2 years old. Do you have any tips or strategies you used to teach Koolaid words that I could try?
@FabioSpahn thanks for watching my videos:) I find that birds respond to musical tones - as in when you say a phrase, use more intonation & be clear with what you say. They like patterns of sound & routine schedules. you can also use their favourite treat as a reward if they make a sound you like :)
Does Koolaid say "Hi Bowie!" at the very beginning of the video? I love how all of your birds talk in context, and seem to understand what they are saying and also some of what you are saying. My parakeet (Birddog, who is the smartest budgie I have had) seems to understand some phrases and at times has said things in context but not to the extend of your birds!
@andthenisays oh! he says "hi koolaid" in the beginning of the video :) Yes, birds are pretty smart aren't they. Seems like they talk in context - I think for the most part they understand that you make a certain noise at a certain time :)
ohh my god! wish my parrotlet would speak :/ how have you learnt it to speak? ive repeated my self to him alot but he just never speaks back :/ lovely birds btw :D
Some birds just don't talk...but I think if they're already more vocal they have more of a tendency to talk. They usually repeat phrases that sound exciting with lots of tone & intonation...
Thanks for the reply. He was saying it over and over! It's crazy how much mine loves to listen to Koolaid! Total concentration! Then every morning after his breakfast he goes into his cage for an hour or so and practices talking. No talking for me yet! I video taped him to prove to the rest of my family how much he talks! :)
@acemom30 haha they totally love to practice in private don't they! so funny. Yup, most people don't believe i have talking birds until they see it ;)
My four month old Parrotlet is learning to talk listening to Koolaid! He says excuse me, tickle tickle tickle, peek a boo, you silly bird, what are you doing and whatever Koolaid says at 57 seconds!! Is that scratchy scratchy scratchy? Thanks for the tutoring Koolaid!!
Very cute! I planned on getting a yellow-naped Amazon but after seeing your IRN and many others on YouTube I'm leaning more towards a male IRN now. And my boyfriend likes the IRN's price tag much btr as well. We both think they are adorable. Love the yellow!
@heathermc79 Aww, yeah I love IRNs. They are smart, such characters and so funny. I got Bowie for 500$ in Canada. They can get pricier as there's many different mutation colours of them. I like the yellow too, it's as bright in person as in the video!
I''d love to own a parrotlet but they are so expensive.Green ones are cheaper but still. They'd have to come down in price, like maybe $100.00 before I'd consider one.I already have 7 diff. types of parrots.I'd like to get 1 baby parrotlet ,1 baby parakeet, and 1 baby love bird (or some smaller sized bird),and raise them up together.I'm pretty sure they'd get along as long as the genders were right. All females/all Males. Why are they so much money ?
Thanks, I got them from really good breeders and i try to maintain their tameness.
I spent a lot of time training & talking to Koolaid cuz i've had him as my one bird for a whole yr :) but he's just a chatty bird. i started saying 'excuse me' everytime i had to move himto clean his poop so he wouldn't get startled. so maybe he says just to get his attention haha.
