Nah, Sallie couldn't hit the high soprano notes like that. My source says it was probably Imogene Greene, or possibly Dorothy Norwood who sang in the Gospel Chimes at this time.
I know the song you're talking about. I've seen it called "Old Time Religion" and "Good Enough for Me", the latter title is probably more correct and is not to be confused with another song of a similar title done with Rev. Cleveland and a choir, and later done by Rance Allen.
The versions that I've come across titled "Old Time Religion" have drums dubbed in, which takes away from the originality of the recording. The drums sound out of the 70s, out of place. "Good Enough For Me" is original.
Yes the great King Soloman Baptist Church in Detroit Michigan is legendary for major programs.I remember going there many times with my father. I recall one program around 95 or96 and the Dixie Hummingbirds,Soul tirrers and Pilgrim Jubilees were there in concert on a Mother's day. My Gawd you talkin about some singing. Thanks for this post Jay!

The album cover and the Hayes and Laughton Gospel Discography both say it was recorded at King Solomon Baptist Church.
