Frankly this is only the second worst mini-game in the history of minigames. Caldbolg is easier to activate and get than say, Spirit Lance - the butterfly minigame is refuckingtarded and it took me 6 hours to do both parts twice. I'm not saying Catcher chocobo isn't bullshit - it is. The spawns of the balloons and birds are random, and the chocobo trainer cheats by default. She starts further ahead than you do and you HAVE to get the first 6 balloons on the ramp down the course to get 0 seconds.

Another thing is, in the end, there is some luck to this.

You need to dodge the gulls but if the racer is ahead of you, he will get all the balloons, and that means you automatically fail.

You NEED to be ahead of him, so you can grab all the balloons.

Your top priority should be to pass him and casually dodge the gulls while picking up the balloons.

If he isn't getting hit by gulls, restart until he does. It'll happen often, trust me.

CASUALLY dodge gulls - don't worry about time.

If u finish in around 38 seconds with 14 balloons and 2 hits u'll do it, it's impossible to get 14 balloons cuz once I get to 13, the camera changes to a worse angle, the chocobo has a spastic moment and turns the completely wrong fucking way, the chocobo turns into a gull or doesn't turn at all, if u get hit once u get struck 3 times in a row, the seagulls attack in huge formation or u cant see the gulls coming and u get the crap beaten out of u. I FUCKING HATE THIS DUMBASS MINIGAME!

And in case you don't completely understand how to dodge them:

Push ALL THE WAY to any side to avoid one. It usually won't be enough to just swerve a bit to the side. The seagulls home in on you, and they DO turn towards you a bit. You basically need to make a fucking 90 DEGREE TURN TO DODGE THEM.

AND YES, IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO DODGE THE FUCKERS.

Alright, i got it on my 4th try.

ADVICE:

In the beginning, don't turn at all until you get very close to the second balloon - just ignore the first one, and you'll be ahead of the other guy. This way, you keep the 3 or so next balloons to yourself (if you can get all of them, kudos - when i first ran the game, i was able to somehow, but now i forgot).

IMPORTANT - when seagulls come:

IT'S ALWAYS BETTER TO MANIACALLY DODGE THEM - EVEN IF IT SEEMS LIKE IT'S COSTING YOU TOO MANY SECONDS!

6. 2 seconds for me and everytime I'm about to do better, they throw shit tonnes of gulls my way, I got hit once and got stuck, my highest combo is 9 hits from getting stuck once.
