If I'm not mistaken, the center tube would be like the CPU and I remember I saw 4 USB ports on it, so in theory it should allow to connect an external keyboard and mouse for all the ones complaining.

I believe it's a great idea, I just hope it will have a big capacity (processor, video card, ram memory and HDD).

I notice the control button is in a convenient place for accidental shut-off. (So I wasn't paying attention to it before...) If the virtual keyboard featured on this thing is able to be moved to the top/other side, or the control button is relocated, that may be a good idea. Not all users remember to SAVE their work all the time. If the computer randomly shuts off just before that 30-page report due tomorrow is finished (but not saved), that could be problematic.

I like the red color. Now, give me a keyboard that comes out of the middle of that control tower and unrolls, red so I can always be pressing the red button, and I want a separate mouse. The tower as control-tower is good, merely needs a touch-screen to work properly and still be portable. Maybe have some other options to make it look like a bamboo scroll case or some such? Also, that monitor stand may not be sturdy enough. If it's too breakable, my cats will be unable to take over the world. :(

@galeofceres Yeah, the keyboard could be silicon like those roll-up keyboards already out there - just integrate one of those into the design and it's much more user-friendly. That way you can touch-type. :)

@SuperLester98: Good point but with the sheer amount of data that people are using cloud computing will become more of a necessity than a fad. Its possible that a small solid state memory device could be in the parts that don't fold. All you would need is enough memory to hold the operating system. After that all you need is to be able to connect to the internet. On today's laptops many wifi antenna are stored in the screen. I could see the antenna being stored in the joints of this "rolltop".

it simply cannot replace laptop. The flexible hinges make the motherboard installation impossible., thus, smaller mobo is used. Smaller mobo means crapper performance. I estimate this "laptop" has the performance equivalent to smartphone or tablet at the time of launch. Tried to put a hardcore CPU and dedicated graphic card in this? Be my guest.

1) it's a cartoon, it's not real. There's a long way between design and product.

2) Benefit is what? Form factor? Not weight. Round things look cool (like round houses), but don't fit well in our square society.

3) Computers are throwaways these days. I remember gold plated and titanium cased laptops that sold for huge amounts, then 3 years later they were doorstops. So hi dollar for a throwaway is not real.

@zeldafandude99 10GB of RAM, a 2TB HDD (or SSD, if we're talking future tech), and "the best" GPU would all indicate that it would last for a long time. No sane person would buy any of that because a) it would probably still be wasteful in the future as it is today and b) technology will be moving at a ridiculously fast pace if this was possible. Even today 10GB of RAM is pointless and a good GPU only lasts 3-4 years (if that).

@michaelandfrade from what it looks like the actual computer is in the tower that the screen wraps around... though by this design they could technically be in the actual flexible screen and not have to flex.. notice the design is broken up into connected slab like things, that when it rolls those particular parts don't flex.. components could be placed in there. as for the flexible screen, its not only possible its a reality. OLED screens already exist and Sony and others are testing it.
