The cost of shutting down each stand & renovating all four of them to only add 10k would make this completely unfeasible. There's also the problem of light to neighbouring houses which becomes an issue if you try and add another tier.

Firstly, Anfield is full every week! The club wrote to the first 20,000 people on the season ticket waiting list and 96% of the people still wanted to be included on the list (thats 19,200 people).
On top of the above, there is an estimated 30,000 other people on the list. Even if only a quarter of these people wanted a ticket thats 45,000 (current capacity) + 19,200 (new season ticket waiting list) + 7,500 (others - 25% of remainder of list) = 71,700.
Thats a conservative estimate!

Unfortunately redeveloping Anfield doesn't provide the club the funding resources a new stadium will generate such as stadium naming rights, seat options, and prime club seats. While redeveloping will likely be cheaper, getting the planning consent may take several years, or could be denied. Why grab for a bird in the bush when you have two in your hands?

If you are going to redevelop every stand, you would be better off building a new stadium... British stands are rebuilt one stand at a time, or two at a time, not all four at once... I see Henry rebuilding the Main stand to increase its seating capacity 50 percent, and rebuilding the Anfield Road stand to do the same, bringing the stadium capacity short of 60k... Henry won't mess with the Centenary Stand or Kop....

The options seems very limited in terms of planning permission at Anfield. When you see the Nou Camp, Bernabeu, San Siro and Manc Trafford though you know Liverpool need at least 70,000 to compete with our biggest rivals. The Westfalenstadion in Dortmund is like a bigger Anfield.
I like it. I would however like to see the kop being the focal point by enlarging it as much as possible and hopefully increasing the capacity to 65000 if at all possible. I'm not sure how much of the surrounding houses have been purchased but current inhabitants would obviously have to be relocated. I would have thought this to be possible from a financial perspective.

I would go with NEW STADIUM any time of the day. Expanding to 55,750 seat is not commercially viable which Ian Ayre has stated time & time again.

Upgrading the Centenary would mean, statically, you would need a new facade to bull out, holding the tier and another stairway inside: Not worthy for 4,500 seats. Unfortunately redeveloping Anfield doesn't provide the club the funding resources a new stadium will generate such as stadium naming rights, seat options, and prime club seats. While redeveloping will likely be cheaper, getting the planning consent may take several years, or could be denied. Why grab for a bird in the bush when you have two in your hands?

If you are going to redevelop every stand, you would be better off building a new stadium... British stands are rebuilt one stand at a time, or two at a time, not all four at once... I see Henry rebuilding the Main stand to increase its seating capacity 50 percent, and rebuilding the Anfield Road stand to do the same, bringing the stadium capacity short of 60k... Henry won't mess with the Centenary Stand or Kop....

The options seems very limited in terms of planning permission at Anfield. When you see the Nou Camp, Bernabeu, San Siro and Manc Trafford though you know Liverpool need at least 70,000 to compete with our biggest rivals. The Westfalenstadion in Dortmund is like a bigger Anfield.

I like it. I would however like to see the kop being the focal point by enlarging it as much as possible and hopefully increasing the capacity to 65000 if at all possible. I'm not sure how much of the surrounding houses have been purchased but current inhabitants would obviously have to be relocated. I would have thought this to be possible from a financial perspective.

@graycrom Yes, I have seen Old Trafford, it is one example of a stadium which doesn't include seperate stands. I can name a lot more stadiums that are composed of stands.

if i cud offer my opninion tho; what are your thoughts on the centenery stand stayin as you've created, with 3 tiers, but re-makin the anfield road end and the main stand to match it, the corners also holding seats! making 3 giant 3-tiered stands running continually round the pitch and then the larger Kop as the focul point of the ground! thats how ive always imagined anfield to be expanded and would love 2 see it happen!
also like the idea you had with the screens!
