@Coldmystery Yes it was the Bush Sr idea but when Clinton took part as president, he didn't bother to veto did not denounce it, or anything in that matter, he just happily signs it. Oh and Clinton even persuaded the House and Senate to have a permanent trade status with China in 2000 and was granted at Clinton request. It's like saying we should blame Eisenhower for Vietnamwhen in fact Johnson screwed up the war in the 1st place. So like Johnson was terrible in Vietnam, Clinton was at fault too.

While the Senate and the House wanted it, Clinton didn't bother to veto the NAFTA. Only Rich people want it, some don't and some do. For example, i blame Congress and the GOP for passing the "don't ask, don't tell" policy against Clinton's will and i blame Clinton for screwing up Somalia in 1993. You can't deny there is always someone to blame for it.

Just a little insight on reality for everyone.. After Nafta was signed they closed down a large plant here in Michigan and moved it to Mexico. My Mother and her coworkers lost their jobs as a result. She is now cleaning houses at age 58 to make a living and it's painful for me to bear, but we aren't given many options here in Michigan since the big three have outsourced so many jobs. I'm sick of these deceitful corrupted politicians.. and it looks like I'm not the only one here.

The Constitution doesn't provide for an AGREEMENT, only TREATIES. This is why they knew they had to call it an "agreement", and pass it on a majority vote. A Treaty requires at least 2/3 vote of the House. NAFTA increased growth, and jobs, but not in American. It's been a great windfall for China, which was also Clinton's largest campaign contributor.
