@MattTheSaiyan Well that would fit in with the times, since a lot of people were taking a lot of drugs at that point. -:) I'm sure that many just thought the peacock was part of the results of taking those drugs. LOL!
The "Peacock" logo was used sparingly during the early '70s. Not every NBC series was introduced by it after the fall of 1970, as the network decided there were more than enough people who had color TV sets that didn't need to be constantly reminded the program they were about to see was in "Living Color". So, this was saved mostly for special broadcasts, and finally withdrawn in 1975.
HAAAAA Memories, I remember, feeling so bad, when ever that "NBC" Peacock opened and spread it's beautiful feathers. I felt bad because I was watching in "black-N-White." How depressing. Then, in the Fall of 1964, we got out first color TV. I remember, the first time, I saw this beautiful peacock plumage in beautiful Living Color. It was exciting, to say the least. It was Walt Disney. who said, "If you don't have a color TV, then you don't know what you are missing."
A Classic!! The NBC Peacock Logo opening became extinct after the 1975-1976 Television Season. This logo; however, was most prevalent for the opening of "The Hollywood Squares" in those days. A Solid 5!!
I SOOOOO remember that peacock, but was great about it in my house, until mid to late 70's we still only had b&w set, so 'this program is brought to you in living color' didnt really mean the same .
@altfactor This was before the 1st Daytime Emmys in 1974. The main awards broadcast was live but there were parts like before the start where it showed various soap opera actors and others showing up for the ceremony that were taped in advance. The awards were held that year at Rockefeller Center's lower-level ice rink area (instead of indoors in a performance hall like they do now).
With the music sounding slightly warped and the announcement a little abrupt (from being a special disclaimer), it is jarring. That's the perfect description.
When I was a kid, I heard those lengthy "pre-recorded" disclaimers after the CBS "Special" logo - which was jarring enough - but I've never heard that with the old peacock before! YOW!
You can tell that this copy was recorded well outside of the location where the NBC feed originated... i.e., if this originated in NYC (Rockafeller Center), this copy was probably taped at Burbank, or vice-versa. The audio quality is a dead giveaway, since it's that "old time network sound" that Maw Bell's audio landlines did to network radio and network TV audio back in the days prior to widespread use of communication satellites for network radio & TV.
What show was this from?

I've said it before and I'll say it again: This logo is addictive. I can see why people in the 1960s didn't get sick of seeing it.
