Christianity, had some archeological hits, and a lot of misses. archeological hits like egypt, babylonia, but when it comes to Jesus himself upon examining first century palestinian records and he was not mentioned at all, nobody knows who Jesus was at the time where he supposed to be alive and walking around.
The most crucial evidence that suppose to confirm Jesus has failed. Later i found out that the Egyptian god Horus story closely parallels the Jesus story.
You are mistaken if you think that someone with the perspective of a newborn has a better chance of understanding reality than someone who has heard claims about reality. No single person could work out for themselves all of what science has discovered.
I am a scientist and an atheist. I accept concepts of which I either have evidence or a means to extrapolate the concept.
I have never seen the Eiffel Tower, but I have seen several replicas, photographs, videos, recent/reliable witness accounts, and have seen the Space Needle, a similar, tall, man-made structure.
I have never seen anything coming from nothing that could not be replicated by sleight-of-hand, thus I have difficulty with miracles, gods, magic, etc.
Good video. One thing though, I would caution people to look at what Science has discovered before deciding whether or not God exists. Before Science the only real choice we had was to believe that this was all created. It's just too amazing to have happened by chance. Yet everything we've learned since shows that it DID happen without supernatural influence. Try to grasp Natural Selection and what 3.5 BILLION years really means. Think.
Thanks for the complement. One thing though, telling someone to "Think" and to "Try to grasp" without knowing them makes you come off as a real asshole. Maybe I am misunderstanding what you're saying. There's only so much you can do with plain text.
Thank you! I do find myself watching it every once in a while, just to remember how to explain the mentality of such a complex system of events which lead to a "deconversion".
In my observation of the events of my own life I have uncovered what I call the ONE GREAT TRUTH:
People Lie! I have actually seen them do this, on a daily basis, under all sorts of circumstances.
They especially seem to lie if there is a chance to obtain power and money.
Sound like any Churches/Religions you know?
