Russell Means is a great prophet for his people and I salute him! I must disagree with his take on patriarchy. I don't see any women doing what he is doing. There are some things only a man with a great spirit can do. Patriarchy may breed tyranny but, a good woman has the power to bridle it but not break it.
The Lakotas should should ask the government of the Mexican Unites States for Help, since the U.S doesn't help Indigenous peoples. The Kickapoe' and the Cherokee have lived in peace and in richness in Mexico for a long time thanks to the help of their brothers of the South the Indigenous people of Mexico. Or perhaps the Lakotas should come to California and work with all of us the Indigenous that we live here, together we make a change for our future and humanity.
While migrating to Mexico might help the Lakotah, I would love to see Russell Means and his people force the feds to honor the terms of the treaties and contracts made to them! It's time for Native Americans to stand their ground and demand their rights under law just as Martin Luther King demanded payment on a century-old check of rights for black Americans. A lot of whites would rally to the Lakotah's cause, especially with the Bush Police State rising to enslave and destroy us all.
The problems of a patriarchy cannot be solved by moving a matriarchy, they are both different sides of the same coin. For our species to advance we need to realise the true opposite of patriarchy is not matriarchy but instead fraternity.
of course you favor masculine "fraternity" versus feminin energy....please do your research before you speak about the benefits of patriachy over matriarchy....it is likely that most people remember their mother kissing their pains away....before ever getting nurtured by thier father...
you might want to look up Russell Means' definition of what Matriarchy is -- it might not be what you think it is...besides if it works, what does the name matter?

Matriarchal societies is perhaps even bad terminology. The truth is that traditional matriarchal societies simply seek gender equality through a balance in gender roles, and do not exhibit destructive power hierarchies that are simply reversed.
