  • that section at 0:50 is fucking amazing but so damn hard to learn...

  • Anyone here who can give me a list of instrumental bands (like Animals As Leaders, Cloudkicker)? Thank you.

  • im very confused with Monuments. Are they an instrumental band or not?

  • @jambi715 They're not instrumental band. but have some instrumental songs

  • When the fuck is this album coming out??

  • it should be instrumental but in live it would be awful without a singer, singer makes the crowd nuts of these songs, thats why djent has to be a singer, but in studio singers are worthless

  • @Hakkenslassen have you never seen Animals As Leaders live? lol

  • @kickasskevkev this was my opinion what i think, i know animals as leaders are instrumental band and it has own technique to get people interested that style of music

  • @Hakkenslassen i wasn't trying to be a dick lol. your comment just made it seem like you thought no instrumental bands could have a good crowd lol

  • @kickasskevkev Yep I have, for 5 minutes before I got bored as fuck and left the room to get drinks and talk to other bands.

  • @Hakkenslassen You're an idiot.

  • djesus christ that is good riffage

  • Nehvataet groulinga :)))))) ja mogu prijti i groulitj...

  • God I can not fucking wait to see Monuments live...

  • esp SC represent! \m/

  • The snare changes throughout the song.

  • DAH! CHIKA! DAH! CHIKA!

  • more like djickadjickajdjickaDjentdjickadjickadjickaDjentDjentdjentdjicka

  • Every now and then i come back to this vid to get high... :L

  • This is not Djent this is dchick!

  • @stringnerd

Yeah, you'd be one of the guys that says each band fall into a specific category?

    :/

  • holy crap the tone and groove in this are just too frickin sweet. I am an instant fan.

  • so fucking amazing. End of story.

  • I find it funny how i like the Black Star amp video of john browne playing this live way better. over produced here and fucking up the 8 string tone in my humble opinion, even the sweet highs at the end.

  • @desolateline I agree whole-heartily!!!!

  • @desolateline I agree. This tone is overproduced and a little lifeless.

  • @desolateline Hows it over produced? Its un eqed (minus a low and high shelf) and unedited..You're probably hearing the chorus effect of 4 guitars per side on that bit.

  • 1080p nuff said.

  • What equalization do you guys use to get that tone for your guitar? It sounds like it would be fairly high on mid and treble and kinda low on bass, but I could be wrong :S

  • @shadowsfall0788 Might be the SC607B. Its a baritone with a 27 inch scale and EMG 81s.

  • Wow, the guitar line is genius!

  • Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Such a fucking good song/band. Do want album. Very much looking forward..

  • uhhhh this is good.

  • that riff at 3:10 gave me a feel, just so masterfully constructed.

  • I´m so getting an 8-string

  • New album soon?.. I've been waiting forever..

  • WHEN IS THE DAN ALBUM?! BTW, did Mike Malyan leave the band?

  • @Freezaen Mike is still in the band. The only members that have ever left are the two vocalists. As for the album .... we all await eagerly! :)

  • Clean your fretboard before recording, guys... ;-P

  • I dont care what happens to the song as longest it throws the same notes and rhythm, kickass w or w/out vocals, superb chill chicken-pots and thrilled to hear this music arrangement, 1.000 thumbsup

  • Please keep this track as an instrumental it kicks so much ass without vox!

  • my personal opinion, Monuments is good except the vocal terribly sucks

  • monuments knows best!

  • This song is so much more immersive without any vocals. I feel as though I have completely rediscovered this tune and now I can't stop listening to it.

  • I just couldnt handle the vox on this track.... either come with a different approach, something that actually grooves with the music, not spaztically is an aggressor over it in which you can barely makeout the beauty in the music... great instrumental tho!!!

  • CHICKACHICKACHIKACHIKACHIKACHIKA

  • The only bands that can pull the vocals off are

    1. Meshuggah

    2. Sikth

    3. Fellsilent

    4. Tesseract

    5. Monuments.

  • @Favechan animals as leaders

  • @bigfproblem . . . has no vocals. I think you misunderstood his statement.

  • @Favechan and Northlane

  • @Favechan Textures? Periphery?

  • @Favechan

I'd say Periphery too. Their music can stand itself with or without vocals IMO. I don't know about Fellsilent, i don't dig bands with two vocalists but again thats just my opinion.

  • @hunckle Hey might be doing awesome things musically, i personally just don't like the sound of his cleans and his screams aren't that great. Love periphery, but only instrumental xd.

  • This is truly another one of those bands that I just stumbled upon, but already love.

  • This is one of the best pieces of djent i've heard.

  • sounds like meshuggah' kid brother. LOVE IT

  • never heard of you guys but this is simply amazing

  • I'm not saying there shouldn't be vocals on this song, but I absolutely despise the vocals that they recorded. And it seems really poorly equalized, 'cause you can barely hear the instruments because of the overpowering screams.

    This version is much better.

  • @TinyKurds I've got nothing more to add except that I agree...

  • HOW SKRALLY? Sounds frikkin epic. Especially the bass and bow making the transformer sound at 0:34 and such.

  • goddamn masterpiece

  • love the tone...dem guitar groans.

  • A really wish bands like Monuments and Red Seas Fire got the chance to headline at festivals. Apparently evanescence are headlining download. Like wtf. And Black Sabbath too. Sabbath are ultimate don't get me wrong but give some new bands a chance.

  • @cq9702 Get more people to buy the albums and it would be a different story, fact.

  • This genre is meant to be instrumental

  • @stringnerd Periphery would disagree

  • @falige Periphery have the shittiest vocals of all Djent bands, so who cares what the think of the matter.

  • @RedOnChrome There are several thousands of people that will strongly disagree with you but to each his own I guess

  • @falige who cares ;)

  • @falige What I would give for an instrumental periphery... their singer blows major dick

  • @p2psux5 Spencer Sotelo has a 5 octave vocal range, sings in different scales and minor/major adjacent to the guitars, and uses no vocal correction when recording. And you are trying to tell me he blows major dick? Ignorant fool

  • @hunckle I love all Periphery's singers, but, dude... 5 octaves is impossible. Unless you factor in falsetto, in which case it's still very unlikely. Spencer's full sung range so far is from Ab2 - F#5, so roughly three octaves (he also claimed in a formspring reply to have hit full B5, which gives him a little over 3). Awesome range, for sure, but when you're aware how rare true 4 octave singers are, 5 octaves sounds like a joke.

  • @UnholyMessiah555 Well I dunno spencer's range is great but I think with correct technique all his melodies are do-able. I'm a tenor like he is, and do most of the things he does on the album. It's extremely impressive for him to be able to do, but with correct training, not all that difficult.

  • @KyuubiXX243H98 That's pretty much the point I was making. He's great at what he does, but not some untouchable god like this other dude was claiming (same goes for all Periph's singers). Besides, as useful/impressive as range can be, the most important thing about a singer is ultimately their creative approach and how good they actually sound (which is ultimately pretty subjective, so it's more difficult to analyze singers from that standpoint than counting notes and registers).

  • @UnholyMessiah555 True dat, but I still think he is pushing the limits in the metal scene today and that's what's the most astonishing. Most metal singers don't expand on their technique or stylistically, which I think Spencer does very well. Almost every song on the debut album proves that even though casey wrote icarus, chris wrote light, letter exp., and the walk, and tom wrote eureka, the rest of the songs were up to Spencer and he killed it in my opinion. Look at Ow my feelings and Zyglrox.

  • @hunckle Periphery has admitted that they used autotune on thE selftitled.

  • @NoaOno linkme

  • @GameKid98 watch?v=6uPHDgYsBPQ ---> description, then tell me that that doesn't mean shit

  • @falige screw them, I like periphery and all but monumens wins.

  • @falige Me too :D

  • @falige As would Monuments, Tesseract, and dozens of other bands.

  • @falige Periphery were an instrumental band once upon a time. When the singer arrived i stopped listening because it ruined all the beautiful melodies and rhythms.

  • @taylorshred So you stopped listening around 2005.

  • @taylorshred agreed. I can't stand their vocals.

  • @taylorshred They never stopped becoming an instrumental band...you can buy instrumental versions of the album...That simple.

  • @falige Bulb > Periphery :)

  • @Dimebag08RIP Bulb | Periphery. Same person.

  • @Deathz0r94 Obviously. The point I was trying to make is that I preferred when it was just Bulb and not Periphery. I like Periphery but I prefer Misha, it sounds kinda non-sensical but you get me :P

  • @Dimebag08RIP I getcha. But I still like the band and prefer it over the solo stuff because I have the instrumental version of the album.

  • @falige personally... i was way more blown away by periphery when i heard their songs before the vocals. they probably wouldn't be as big as they are now without em though so...eh...

  • @metalbass211 I think of the vocals as an extra instrument in their REALLY technical songs, like zyglrox and Frak the gods. but the vocals are excellent in icarus lives and insomnia

  • @no1matt oh i totally agree. vox totally add a whole element to music of all genres. in the case of periphery though, it didn't add the element i was expecting and took a little getting used to for me.

  • @metalbass211 it depends on how you integrate the vox. in case of periphery, i don't dislike vocals in general, but they are too omnipresent, somehow distracting from what is going on at the instruments...resulting in a net subtraction for me personally ;) i dont have this feeling with bands like tesseract, meshuggah or even isis, where vox kinda work as an additional instrument. and sometimes i just love to have music speak for itself, without words.

  • @inbard0 very well said.... i totally get that.

  • Comment removed

  • @inbard0 I have spent my entire life preaching music without lyrics, and i say it is usually better than music with lyrics.

  • @stringnerd Im sure if you took the vocals out of alot of songs you'd notice how cool whats going on behind them actually is. But vocals are just another component.

  • @stringnerd And TesseracT

  • @stringnerd Meshuggah and Sikth would also disagree

  • @stringnerd Would be true if djent were a genre *trollface.jpg*

  • @berserker213 "djent" is not much of a genre by itself, but a style

  • @ifhyymf That was the whole point of the joke.

  • @stringnerd I agree :)

  • @stringnerd Thank you!

  • Is Gnosis going to be released without Vocals?

  • This will never get old. Gods have that effect

  • instrumental is better!

  • Me gusta!

  • There are honestly thousands of us getting daily goosebump sessions from listening to this band. You don't write music, you write music+ and you are the only band I have ever thought that about.

If your guys we're to ever split up it would literally be the worst musical disaster of my life. I wouldn't know what to do.

If I become anymore obsessed I am going to start boiling your bunnies.

    Forever Monuments...

  • Marcus miller signature fender jazz bass? Or is it... just a bass.

  • Some mad guitar an ting doe.

  • This is a truly amazing track. I'm in the process of covering it and I actually have to drag myself away from playing it to go to sleep haha. Each riff contains so much musical content you can just keep playing them over and over. Best song I've ever learned

  • @Maggezz12 Okei, syö paskaa?

  • this album is going to kill

  • amazing song. cant wait to hear the final product with vox. anyways, i couldn't have not noticed the fact that the only guitar present here is the esp (or ltd) SC 8 string. and as i remember browne played the ibanez 8 string rg (dun remember model name). has he switched or is he just absent from the video?

  • @Krizalid15 Pretty sure that's just Olly's guitar

  • @Krizalid15 i thought he was playing an rg2228. it's a hell of a guitar man i got one a while ago

  • @Krizalid15 the fingers mate! the fingers!

  • FUCKING AWESOME...

  • its so strange to listen to this song without the massive low-end that all their other recordings have. would be nice to hear a bit more of that classic Monuments bass in yo face

  • @Bigaxmax Needs moar compressed as fuck bass drum rite?

  • I think i am probably about half the views for this video.

  • i guess you guys are gorgeous! too bad i can't be sure...

  • 0:46 <3

  • Thall!

  • Thumbs up for Christmas number one!

  • I liked the other version on the blackstar ad.

  • You guys should get Daniel Tompkins of Piano. He was great with TesseracT. I don't see why he wouldn't be any greater with you guys (Monuments).

  • @LukeYoungBass One can dream

  • goddamn, this is so amazing! :D ahhh!

  • what tuning is this played in?

  • This song needs no vocals. its already perfect

  • @THISISMONUMENTS Cant get this track outta my head!!!!! F******* EPIC!!!!

  • 3:11 is probably one of the best riffs ever writen, So fucking catchy. you guys are so fucking sick!

  • awesome song! i like this version without vocals better but what happened to your former vocalists?

  • I am sorry, but reckon there are other people out there who agree; there is too much ambient shiz in the mix at 1:01 until the djenty section. I want to hear that great bottom string groove but I cant! For me, that riff with the fat bend is the best bit of the song too..

  • This is fucking djentastic guys! Mike, you're truly an awesome drummer. I love the groove you guys creates in your songs. Can't wait for the album release. Keep it up!

  • Used this to propose to my Fiancee!

  • @mjrrp4k dude you found a girl that likes metal, god damn nice catch!

  • @mjrrp4k how'd you do that? if you don't mind me asking

  • You guys should really consider becoming an instrumental band! Sounds fucking awesome! No need for a vocalist! :)

  • @THISISMONUMENTS - Why spoil the Djent party with a vocalist?

  • Explosive.Dynamic.Djentification.Polyrhythmic.Instrumentational Brilliance.

  • This is perfect, end of story.

  • Whats the Tuning for The Uncollective?

  • @CraxPfeife There's a tab you can find on SevenString, low string is tuned to F ;)

  • Tuning?

  • Ripped audio for iPod :)

  • @Smashmund Download the high quality version from their website, haha

  • I listen to this everyday

  • Who sung in the song "Admit Defeat"? I loved those vocals!!!

  • no man there are like 7 billion people on the planet. how am i supposed to keep track of all of them. there were like a thousand born while i was typing this or something.
