I haven't sworn so much at a video game in years as when I was trying to do the part of this game from 1:00 to 1:37....you can get a 1-UP before you miss a jump and go hurtling to your doom and every few times you can get enough star bits to get another free guy...then go hurtling to your doom when you miss another jump.

But that's what I love about Super Mario Galaxy: it's an oldschool video game in that it's fun but it makes you work for your rewards.

The Sweet Sweet Galaxy is definitely a difficulty spike, but all in all, Super Mario Galaxy was not a very hard game.

From what I've seen of Mario Galaxy 2, on the other hand, the sequel is its evil twin--the difficulty looks ruthless.

To think that this was the part (people called it "Cookie Cutter Factory" I think) of the teaser movies that we all saw before the game was released and everyone was saying, "That looks hard! This is going to be the most challenging Mario game yet!".

When in reality, it's not that hard at all. I love the sweets too, that's why I play stars like "Bouncing Down Cake Lane", cause of the cakes and ice cream! Too bad I think Toy Time Galaxy is the most evil of them all... :P

Of all of the Galaxies? I think the Ghostly Galaxy is pretty evil in that the first mission is really easy, then you see a huge jump in difficulty for every mission afterward.

Ghostly Galaxy? Pfft... Dreadnought Galaxy is where the real difficulty lies... One cannonball and you're toast! I remember getting crushed by a few pixels/polygons when doing an all coin run. From 6 to 0 just like that by nothing at all. It was on Infiltrating the Dreadnought, where there are two walls moving up and down quickly and I tried to get into that space on the right with a few coins. Managed to do it in the end though! I think there is one coin that's impossible to get there too.

Agreed. Its the last part that really gets me. My jumps take me too far. How did you do that really wide, far jump?

Which one? You can extend your jumps a bit by spinning. Depending on where and when you spin, you can increase the length of your leap, the height of your jump, or your time in the air. It's great for avoiding obstacles, especially moving ones like here in Sweet Sweet.

Mario's jumps can be controlled pretty precisely in this game. What you see here was nothing more than an ordinary long jump. And if you find yourself about to miss, give Mairo a spin to correct himself.

Mario has it from the beginning of the game. What you do is that when Mario's running at full speed, you have him crouch, then jump immediately after that. The only ability Mario has to earn is the spin.

I don't need more Star Bits because I've paid off all the Hungry Lumas. In fact, I'm overloaded with them. I sometimes jsut fire off Star Bits in the Comet Observatory to reduce the count.
