he doesn't say y'all right. and i never have said 'right quick'. i do say 'fixin', like as in 'i'm fixin to do something.......'. i have to say, i hate listening to someone who doesn't have a southern accent trying to say y'all. it just makes my skin crawl.
Actually the Southern accent is heavily influenced by the Ulster Scots/ Scots-Irish. They Northern Irish notice this when visiting the US Southern States and have commented on it.
@VickyGoss well, that makes sense. most of the people that came to the south were scots/scots-irish. they were on run from an english gov't that didn't want them there.
Is it just me... Or do Northerners not realize how unprapper their cammun speech sounds to others? (I spelled those words incorrectly on purpose.) There is no "correct" way to speak...
And to everyone commenting on "ye all": If you'll notice, he pronounced it correctly the whole time until he said, "pronounced as 'ye all'". It makes more sense to say that it was originally "ye all" than "you all." It's an old contraction, though no one uses the "ye all" pronunciation.
Oh, and just for further educational purposes, a true southern man would never say "Hand me that thar bandage". He would most definately say "Go git me the duck tape!!!". Trust me on this one.
LMAO! I love it! I'm southern born and bred, from the great state of Alabama. (Well, it's great to us.) While this video is good for some belly laughs, it's also very educational. But, I have to correct you. Y'all is pronounced as one syllable. "Yawl", not "yee-aw". Other than that, keep up the good work! :D
I'm not even from the south and I never heard anybody say ye aw. Every body I know says it Y'all. If you got the word ye aw off of Wikipedia you better do a little more research than that son. Cause it says verification needed.
"ye all?" Who in tarnation says it like that? I was born and raised in GA...and i've never heard it as "ye all." It's more of a pure "yawl." Comes more from the back of the throat than from the top of the mouth. There should not be any "e" sound in it. You dadgum yanks need to stick to your own language, lol.
WOW! I never knew how pitiful people sound when they try to mimic southern accents; yal just need to stop like for real b4 yal hurt yaselfs. ..But for real though, people always talk about my accent whenever I out of town to somewhere like Cali and Baltimore ( my ex gets on me for that). I mean I'm from Louisville, KY and people say we aren't consider country/southern but yeah we are! Trust!
I'm in VA, I've never heard usetacould before in my life. I'm in Central VA, the people who use right quick are definately "rednecks" to most of the people in the area. If you go 30 minutes west of me then you start to hear a real "hick" sounding accent. Where the mountains start is where you get the more hillbilly southern. and everyone uses y'all.
I thank all y'all needs some learnin. Fo one thang - ya got to know that y'all is singular, all y'all is plural and all y'all's is plural possessive, uh huh. Didn't mention 'at didja??? But, bless your heart, ya can't he'p bein born at a disadvantage, can ya suga'? Now, bout this ustacould bidness - if ya ustacould, then ya mightcould again. Shonuf. By an by I spect you'll figger it out darlin'. Jest set ya'self down with a mess of collard greens, a cold beer, and a few southen movies...
We might as well get used to southerners being shown in an uneducated light, even if the majority of us are, in fact, educated. :) This was funny though!
I concur. Ppl think all southerners are real dumb/stupid just cause we talk a lil drawal. To be perfectly honest wit ya we are some of the most well educated type of ppl you would ever want to meet. Why'd you think that everybody want to be talk or look like they from the south?!
What do you mean that I am not included in the educated group?! For the record sweetie, I am a highly educated black woman from the south, there is nothing uneducated about me. Thank You.
((Next time you say some shit that isn't true, do me a favor and find the truth first, and leave me out of it))
What does that suppose to mean, asswipe?! Just to pose a question, Why do even get on here and critcize everything that everybody writes?? I know that you didn't mention anything about race I did.
Hmm...
This was more of the 'hick' accent, than just a general Southern.
'usetocould'- I never have heard that phrase in all my life.
Y'all- not Ya'll. Contraction. You All. Pronounced 'yawl'.
But I's just a dum Southerner who cain't do nuthin' but rub what few braincells I have togither, right?

This is pretty messed up, if you're going to try to pronounce words from the South, at least try to pronounce them correctly.

Y'ALL is definately not pronounced "ye all". That's just rediculous to even think that.
Y'all is a contracted word, made up of "you" and "all".
Y'all IS!! a word
Y"all is the same thing as these northern variations "yous guys" or "yous all"
To the say the southern version is wrong, would be ignorant. Both northern and southern versions are wrong.
The correct pronoun for second person plural is simply the word "you".

Very common in Southern accents.
Right verbs, wrong tenses.
I SAW it/him/y'all =
I SEEN it/him/y'all
Did=Done and there are others.
Ain't is used very much.

It's pronounced "fanger," and "usetacould" is emphasized ONLY on the first syllable--"USEtacould," not "USEtaCOULD."
Just thought I'd share. You're doin' pert good!

Southerers are, for the most part, educated. Fortunately, you not included in the educated group. This message directed to KaishaLaSha83.
