And don't get me wrong, I think Ray's style is very pretty, I just think it may have been more interesting to focus on some of the other, perhaps lesser-known gymnasts, who had more legitimate shot of winning this particular competition. For someone that " never washes her hair" Sveta did well to get paid by Russian Playboy..and nicely done they were too. I think people don't like in when they see someone Sveta who is strong, determined, beautiful and knows her own mind. I come from the land of the BBC and find this commentry amusing but annoying. How greatly Chinese gymnastics has changed...look at Yang Yun smiling after her routine and her coaches too. They don't smile when they fall anymore, no matter how great of a recovery!

I was totally sketched out when yang yung went to do her dismount on BB. It looked like she was going off the end not the side and i was like she's gonna hit her headlol
no one was injured because of the vault's height, the girl that got injured hurt herself on the board, not the horse, she jumped wrong, the height of the vault had no effect
@fr3ckles yes i agree. khorkina was so much taller than the other gymnasts. the vault being to low makes a big difference in her performance especially.
Obviously I know about the vault controversy, but let's say it hadn't been wrongly adjusted and she had fallen -- should she (Khorkina) really have gotten a 9.025 on that first vault? Elise Ray had a similar fall and scored in the 7's.
Elise Ray got really deducted on her second vault because she didn't have get an extra 1/2 twist in and performed the same vault twice. I'm not sure what the deduction for that is but i think that's why Elise Ray got a score in the 7s.
Svetlana didn't land on her feet...that was why she got a 9.025...if she would have landed on her feet then touched down or collapse (or whatever) the score would have been 3-4 tenths higher
that's funny to think about, because Svetlana won Europeans with almost the same vault average with 9.7's and 9.8 across the board...however, she also fell on bars here...
The whole AA was messed up. I personally like Andreea Raducan more than Khorkina and I'd like to say that Raducan won it, but with the vault controversy and its direct/indirect effects no one'll ever know. I feel even worse for Khorkina since she never won that AA gold - Patterson edged her out in 2004. This could've been her best shot and even as a Raducan fan, I still feel so bad for her! And then came the gold medal controversy with Raducan...yeah, basically a really messed up AA in Sydney.
That was horrible and that is probably why she reacted after 04 about the 'robbed' I think it was more of 00 and 04 combined that she was 'robbed.' I miss her and I miss Gymnastics. We never see anything anymore but I retired when she did.

That's it--I think Raducan is a fine gymnast & yes, she was obviously treated horribly with the cold medicine fiasco, but I don't feel any worse for her than for any of the other AA candidates. ALL of them were completely scr*wed over, and ALL the results, not just those for the vault, should've been completely scrapped, with a whole new do-over. What a mess.

It was so messed up...In the 1st rotation they comment that Raducan was high on the horse too. It's surprising there weren't more falls.

I sobbed when I first saw this. Khorkina was on the edge of losing it. The vault was a complete fiasco. I'm glad no one died.
