@daglasses2 Well hip hop did started off with turntables, sampling, and beats since they couldn't afford instruments back then, so it's just right that the majority continues on with this tradition. Overtime however there have been rappers and groups that started using instruments such as The Roots, Wyclef Jean, Beastie Boys, and Cypress Hill but in the end rap/hip hop will continue to use beats and turntables cause that is the root of the genre.
Really, I consider rapping poetry. I'm more impressed by free-style, but then only when it's metaphysical. Even I can make up a rap about dissing someone. That part isn't hard, but I do appreciate the poetry that many of these artists make use of. Mainstream rappers would lead me to believe that rappers don't speak English very well at all, but mainstream rappers are all that most people hear... Which makes sense...

And while I don't really like rap, I do understand it. The only criticism I have for the genre, is I find it to be a rather rigid genre. Metal, on the other hand, is quite flexible. It can be molded into different sounds, from traditional, doom, death, black, gothic, symphonic, industrial, folk etc.

This proves no point. The things in the video about the songs being different is used the same way as metal, rock etc. It just that rock metal etc. did it first. The people who represent hip hop (mainstream hip hop) suck and the people who represent metal (mainstream metal if there is a mainstream) don't suck. Funny thing is that the same videos usually use the "gayest" Metal bands, and yet they still prove better than Rap. Also, you made many "ignorant" stereotypical statements about Metal. And like Rap, the best Metal is also in the underground. Underground like in not even the US. Finland and Sweden have the greatest bands, and one Finnish citizen has more talent in one finger than the entire Rap genre combined. Melodeath requires far more talent than cRap. :)

This proves no point. The things in the video about the songs being different is used the same way as metal, rock etc. It just that rock metal etc. did it first. The people who represent hip hop (mainstream hip hop) suck and the people who represent metal (mainstream metal if there is a mainstream) don't suck. Metal can be music even if you don't say a single word in a song, while hip hop or rap is mostly lyrical content and is based on what they say in a song mostly. Rap is barely music itself.

I prefer metal personally because of the actual instrument playing,I probably wouldn't listen to rap out of my own schedule,but some of this stuff is decent enough to listen to. Rappers like 50 Cent and Soulja Boy give decent underground rappers a bad name which is kind of a shame. I'm not convinced rap is better than metal (Not by a long shot lol), but this stuff deffinitely isn't as bad as mainstream.
