Who is the mastermind making biking in the sidewalk illegal anyways? Why would a bicyclist even want to hurt themself hitting a pedestrian and fly off the bike. Ofcourse no one wants to hit nor endanger pedestrian and thats the reason you bike responsibly and learn to slow down and even stop when biking on sidewalk. You should always give the option to a cyclist to bike where he believe is safer. Where do I sign up to legalized bicycling on sidewalk.
what? a responsible cyclist IS safer on the sidewalk than on the road! much rather use better reasoning on the sidewalk than deal with the fucking road rage maniacs on the road
"logik316" - It's a pain and a plea. Unfortunately, bicycles on a large scale are not fitting on our actual roads and street picture. They are too fragile for the paved roads and too much dangerous for the sidewalks and other pedestrian areas. It will take a long period of city engineering evolution before bicycles can easily and safely fit in the Big Picture.
"logik316", a collision between a cyclist and a pedestrian doesn't have to be "deadly" to be tragic! One can be seriously injured being hit by a bicycle, especially if it's moving at high speed. Sadly, bicycles have become a trend, a fashion, a type of protest by the marginals and the proletarians in our "civilized" society. A vast portion of bicycle riders are savagely imposing themselves everywhere on the public space, uncarefull of people and expensive vehicules moving around them.
I like the shirt and tie, though the acoustics are pretty awful. Anyway, as for why bicyclists go on the sidewalk, maybe it's because on the road we're forced to trust the motorists behind us not to run us over, and the motorists parking in front of us not to open their doors in our faces. Besides, when's the last time you've heard of a fatal collision between a bicyclist and a pedestrian? It's extremely rare, whereas motorists kill bicyclists all the time. Try riding a bike sometime.
There is a video on u-tube called Unsafe Cyclist in Montgomery County Maryland it shows that bicyclist violating the law. The bicyclist act as thought they are above the law. We need to work together to stop this Scofflaw Cyclist. Video tape them publish it and call the police, your local Council person and demand that bikes follow the same laws as cars an request the ticketing and impoundment of bikes the same way they do cars...
