  • Nice playing and TONE. Is that Weber speaker alnico or ceramic? It sounds sweet like an alnico. It looks like a vintage Jensen speaker.

    Thank you.

  • Mr. Bo jangles?

  • put flat-wounds on it

  • nicely done! thanks. loved the guitar. might get me one.

  • Very nice playing. I have the exact same guitar. I also have a '69 country gentleman. Yes the 5120 is a great guitar, the 6122 from '69 is a magical guitar, they both sound good but the sound of my vintage Gretsch can't be reproduced. Would love to hear what you sound like on it.

  • I had a 5120 and it was a complete waste of money. It sounded OK, but three different luthiers were unable to make the neck not SUCK. Cheap wood, terrible frets (some were out of position). The 5120 isn't a Gretsch--it is a cheapo knock-off of one that I can't believe the Gretsch company actually put their logo on. Nice playing on the video, however.

  • @bangwhistle69 I have 5120 and I have none of those problems you mentioned. My 5120 is pretty much perfect and I think I love it :)

  • Very Very nice playing. When you have a chance check out Nina Simone's version, she did it with much passion.

  • Great tone, great playing, GORGEOUS guitar.

  • Very nice playing, my man...very nice. A great demo of the Gretsch and a nice showcase for your talents.

  • nice playing ! ......what improvement did the Weber speaker add ?

  • Which Weber Signature speaker are you using ??

    There are four different models

    Alnico / Ceramic

    S / without S

  • he jumped so, so high.

  • I love this tune, did you write this yourself?

  • @katanaboy995 this song is chet atkins version of mr bojangles

  • Beautiful job bro. Nice sounding guitar too. Has a tone that very much compliments your playing.

  • Well done dude!

    Sweet Mr. Bojangles. Sweet Chet.

  • Play some Rockabilly!

how much did that guitar cost you?

  • That's a huge guitar, heaps of presence when people see it I'm sure :D

  • mr.bonjagles its that song

  • hi, im from argentina and im going to the us in january. id like to buy a guitar, and i loooove the way gretschs look, but I dont know if they're gonna fit the music I play. I love oasis, blur, arctic monkeys, and I dont know if I'd ratter go for the fender tele deluxe 72.. im a little confused cause we play a lot of oasis in my band, and maybe a gretsch is better for me than a tele. I havent seen reviews of this guitar with sustain, how does ir sound? thnks!

  • @TheChesquitoo as far as i know, noel gallagher has never played gretsches. fender telecasters though he has. a tele is your best bet as it is so versatile.

  • What's the first song called?

    Awsome demo man!

  • Awesome playing.

  • You sure made that sound sweet! Most enjoyed! Cheers!

  • Very nice !

  • I'm getting a gretsch g5120 Monday AAAAAAAAAAAA! Can't wait, and nice demo and guitar man!

  • I had two Gretsch guitars ....1.. little CA gretsch solid body with leather binding, and later traded for the big hollow body...it was prettier and more impressive....but it was a piece of shit.....warped neck..sent it back...still the same.. Swapped it for a lower cost guitar, a Stratascaster. Never liked that one either, but kept it in Hawaii because I had a pickin' job. Then had to have a Super 400 *Travis" Today I have a Joe Mahis copy of Hallmark. Best ever, but now I an 80, too late!!

  • Great playing!

Is this Gretsch made in Korea?

  • @mattguitar10 Mine is...I have the older model with the clear pick guard and it was made in Korea...ever since Fender bought Gretsch they outsourced but I love my guitar so much I got it tattooed on my left forearm...the Electromatics are a good bang for your buck

  • Hello. Sorry for my bad English. Could you give me some information about this guitar (Gretsch 5120)? Where is it made? How much does this guitar in your country? Excuse me, but here in Brazil as this information is not reliable. Thank you.

  • @Rubensclapton well other than the size, it's a hollow body guitar made completely out of maple with a rosewood fretboard. everything you see is how the guitar is. and it's about $700 here in america. and i think it is made in america too.

  • Nicely played. Nice tone as well. Thanks !!

  • very nice playing!

  • the neck looks perfect

  • that's an amazing guitar. I'm deciding between getting one and a fender Jaguar, but I'm not completely sure yet.

  • @fidelcastro Ive got both ...and a jazzmaster...the 5120 is better than either in my opinion.

Also ive got an epiphone sheraton that im putting filtertron pickups in...should be good!

  • NICELY DONE!

  • Can we switch lives?

  • nah im not gonna buy it, that dumbass doubled the price

fuck him, im getting a music-man

  • Love it.

  • Is that a Jim Croce song?

  • @bfv102290 - Chet Atkins - Mr.Bojangles

  • @bfv102290 - I should have explained that he was playing an arraignment of "Mr. Bojangles" done by Chet Atkins. The song "Mr. Bojangles" was written by Jerry Jeff Walker in 1968. The song made popular in the 70's when it was recorded and covered by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

  • Very well done. I have the black version of this guitar. Nice instrument for the price.

  • how much did it cost?

  • Just under $700 is what I paid.

  • great guitar player... sold me on buying one of theese guitars

  • Very nice

  • i've been playing and collecting vintage Gretsches for years and do think these newer ones have really nice sounding pups.

  • i liked the end the best.

  • Dang, I played that Grestch at Guitar Center this week. It may not have been the high end 6120 model but it was beautiful. I loved the tone and the twang of the Gretsch. I wish I had the money to buy it =( .

  • Very nice.

  • sweet ass job man!!

  • Chet couldn't have done better on "Mr. Bojangles." That's a beautiful guitar and you do it justice.

  • I'm playing a Epiphone Sheraton II right now and the only problem I have with it is heavy and tries to dive bomb neck first away from me all the time. Have you noticed this with the Gretsch?

  • ur good, do u like the guitar

  • Great playing and I'm getting Mac

  • what song is this?

  • The song is Mr. Bojangles by Jerry Jeff Walker.

  • amongst 50 odd guitar vids i looked through tonight this was the best - well done young bro

  • bravissimo!!!

  • great video man, love the picking, how does this react with some mid overdrive overdrive

  • Nice Chet's tune, good job, 4* !

  • I was looking at buying a g5120, and thankyou my friend, youve convinced me me. Sweet piece too!

  • are these filtertron pups or just gretsch HBs?

  • These are just the stock Gretschbuckers.

  • Nice playing. Great sounding guitar.

  • Sweet tune, Guitar sounds really nice !!

  • Gorgeous guitar.

  • The anniversary year ones have a silver/grey pickguard , at least , that's what I think cause my 2008 Gretsch has a grey pickg.

  • Did you change its pickguard? Mine is clear.

  • What kind of tuners does the G5120 have????

  • Beautiful Guitar, and a very beautiful song, Mr Bojangles by Chet Atkins. Very Good man, Keep on playing, and keep that guitar from children, haha. Very nice.

  • hey nice guit. thinking about buying a gratsch electrom. too... would you recommend it? is it apropriate to play jazz?

  • same here but i am looking for a good blues tone.

  • very nice playing, 5 stars, are there some tabs?

  • dude, do you got the tabs to that song? what's the name?

  • I'm 11, and I got a Gretsch silver solid body, the 125th anniversary.

Cuz it's solid body might get a seymour duncan blackour for the bridge.

then it would be a bluesy solo sound then switched to a massive wall of...gain.

  • great playing. i am considering a 5150 i saw on craigslist and i'm really wanting it now after watching this.

  • you lucky dog i got mine back when they had the clear pick guard. oh well haha

  • so just buy a white one

  • I know this probably isn't so, but did you ever go to a middle/junior high school in California called Dartmouth Middle School? I knew a guy named Nick, and you look really similar.

  • great guitar. id like it in red so it'd resemble Harrisons tenneseean.

this orange makes it look like the one Lennon played on paperback writer. great sound. whats songs r u playing? did u just improvise?

  • Lennon had a doublecut, more like a 6122.

I'm trying to play Mr.Bojangles, but just hacked my way through.

  • aaah. good catch. thanks for clearin tht up.

  • G. Harrison played the doublecut.

  • you are thinking of his Country Gentleman.

  • yes, and he also had the single cutaway CG a short while after the first

  • i think when you refer to the single cutaway, you mean the Gretsch Tennesean.

is it the one he played at shea stadium?

  • yea thats the one.

  • @Revolver8566 i dont think they do a rose colour like harrisons. but they do walnut which is like dark red.

  • i saw many videos with the 5120 but they have a transparent pickgard, when did you get your gretsch, do the newer once have this pickgard?

  • either way, a white pickguard can always be purchased at a guitar center or something

  • Starting the with 125th Anniversary Edition, they've had Silver pickguards.

Paul Setzer of Setzer signs can make you any kind you want. (google him)

  • nice gretsch. cool tone, btw...what happened to ur 350v63 video? i liked it. if uve still got it, would u mind posting some vids?

  • Play some reall music man!! you've got a beautiful guitar play some rockabilly!!!

  • Is that Mr. Bojangles?

  • It tried to be!

  • Does anyone know that tune? What song is it? i'm pretty sure it's the beatles but i cant pick the song.

  • I bought this very guitar a month ago, the sound is great! It really has that great gretsch sound for a real low price...

  • nice tone man keep up the good work. maybe you could make some blues in the future i would love to listen how the guitar sounds.

  • I'll see what I can do!

  • Nice job Nick! Sweet axe!

    -funky

  • hey man, you did a superb job playing, i really liked it! 5/5 but could post a vid of you playing and using the bibsby tremelo?

  • I used it just a bit at the end, but really not a lot.

The guitar is going through some modifications, but when it's all done, I'll put up a Bigsby friendly video up!

  • Awesome, dude - sounds great!

  • Great tone!

  • SHINY =)

  • Sweet!
