  • @gumballswatterson iven dad got scard! lol

  • @gumballswatterson me mom and darwin did not gest scard

  • I SO wanna go on that ride again!

  • ....I miss Emily. Constance is cool and all but...she doesnt fit like Emily did.

  • 4:36 WTF .!!!

  • constance hatchaway was mentioned by horace horsecollar in Epic Mickey

  • this ride used to scare me so bad my dad took me on it when i was 6 or 7 and then i didnt go on it again until i was about 16 or 17

  • What a beautiful ride. It's always been my favorite. I Love the indiana Jones ride, but HM has a special place in my heart lol

It's gorgeous when the Nightmare before Christmas stuff hits. I'm not fond of some of the decorations, but the tons candles that adorn the exterior, and the hundred-or-so lit jack o'lanterns in the back of the mansion during halloween are so pretty.

  • worst thing ws the sneak attack on me with the hanging moron

  • Im planing to go on mayXD.

  • Greatest Disneyland ride ever.

  • Dont they do the lightening over the big graveyard in this anymore? I didnt see that

  • I've heard that Phantom Manor is much scarier than this but this and Phantom are both pretty similar. I know Phantom Manor tells a story but the basically have the same effects, techniques etc. Is there any major difference?

  • @boffinme80

I think the phantum manor uses different characters, and it all looks different, but it has all the same effects. The biggest difference i think is the ghost town graveyard and a couple new scenes

  • This ride used to terrify me. I want to go back again and see if it's as scary as it used to be.

Then again, I went once when I was four, and once when I was seven. This ride is not fun for a four year old X3

  • You're so lucky you can visit the Haunted Mansion anytime you want.

  • is this ride scary?

  • @wwenumber1fan1999 No it never was. I grew up on this as a kid. The creepy voice is the scariest thing. And he's almost humorous. Some people see to be getting scared of the new bride. I haven't rode it with her yet. But on the whole its more jokish. look at the stretching pictures at the start. The guy is in boxer shorts on TNT. The man isn't just in quick sand he's stacked on two other guys. And it ends with goofy looking hitch hiker ghosts getting in your car with you to follow you home. :DDD

  • @wwenumber1fan1999

its more funny than scary, but for a little kid, itd be scary. I am easily scared, and i thought it was awesome.... but it is best to go with someone....

  • HA! My friend got trapped on the ride this summer. I think it broke near the crying dog. They had no choice but to leave the ride. I don't know would be worse, be trapped in a black out, or just the cart stopping.

  • i been thinking about this ride and i firgure those anybody get scared yet love this ride!

  • who you gonna call? LOL

  • @evantrude Is that a Ghostbusters reference?

  • @tdfritzthe yep

  • I like all the new changes they made on this ride over the years with the new changing portrait effects as well as Madame Leota's new effects. I was pretty surprised when I first saw Constance (the current attic bride) in 2006. Although I like Constance I kind of Miss the old Bride.

  • @solidmario1 The old bride's heart beat was creepy but Constance looks a lot better. But even though I haven't heard it in any videos, someone said you can hear the old attic bride's heart beat and commented that constance just scared her into hiding. So if you listen when you ride you may still hear her, so you won't miss her as much.

  • @Miracle490d Actually. I go on this ride all the time. So I always hear her. Thanks for letting me anyway.

  • i like it how you put the theme song at the end from the bnl

  • pause at 2:31 to see the ghost host that is him

  • The ride broke down when my Doombuggy was in front of the creepy bride o_o my sister jinxed me, I was telling her I was nervous about the bride because I thought she was kind of creepy and she said, "Oh, wouldn't it suck if the ride broke down in front of her??"

    Yeah. Yeah it would. xD

  • fuckin awesome, can't explain it any other way

  • This is the most spookiest ride at any Disney park, it's even spooky like in the movie starring Eddy Murphy.

  • @utubeVanillaBoy It didn't look like the Ghost Bride, Constance, was carrying an axe in this video. Of course, I've never been on this ride at all, so I don't know.

  • i love this ride!

  • i hate that bride bitch, she always scares the shit out of me lol

  • @thatonedude100 Geezz,im sure she dosnt mean to :P

  • i love this ride (:

  • Wouldn't it be wierd to have a boyfriend with the voice of the Haunted Manions 'Ghost Host? :s lol speaking of the 'Ghost Host' he says we'll be sseing hima little later or he will be joining us a little later (sumthing like that) who is he? lol

  • @utubeVanillaBoy why is the name 'Constance' or like what is the story behind that name? just curious :P

  • I would love to go to Disneyland for my 16th birthday!

  • I luv the bride effect. they had a bride many decades ago but they closed off the attic part where she was located for so long. i'm glad they brought her back and gave her a makeover. btw, what is she holding in her hand?

  • @irishoorah its a hatchet. she is the bride who lopped off the heads of all of her wealthy husbands

  • this one is actually haunted, not many people know that,

that's why it breaks down a lot. (:

  • Great job on getting all 4 stretching portraits in the same shot! :) LOL, I first rode the mansion in '91, so the "slow transition" of the morphing portraits is what I was used to...yes, I know that they "quick flashing" portraits were first though...

  • Thanks for this, excellent job! :)

  • i dont think many people know this but in those head statues that sing and are in the graveyard scene the one thats either on the far right or left (cant remember exactly, i also think he is holding his head) is also the voice of Tony the tiger his name is Thurl Ravenscroft! :)

  • @LASERGHOST24 Thurl Ravenscroft's bust is actually the second from the left, and also is the broken one.

  • i was scared of this ride from the time i was like 7 and didnt go on it again until i was like 16 or 17

  • This is a ride I always have to go on. Awesome video!!!!:)

  • I'm so excited im going to disneyland for my 23rd birthday my birthday is may 9th but im going may 5th to celebrate it early hehe :) ru42 i love all your videos of the rides at disneyland and i hope to see more videos from disneyland soon.

  • THIS was a blast! I had the gate-fold LP of this and as a kid had every detail memorized, and then finally got to see it for real! Rapture! Sadly the ride always got STUCK in the graveyard, and MY favorite part was the party scene with the dancers and the waltz-version of the HM theme, but the tram never got stuck THERE. : (

  • I wish I could go again. I went in 1986.

  • My favorite part of this ride is i get to go behind the scenes and see how it actually works. it's very cool to see the stretching room shrink and see that it's an elevator. plus it's soooo cold in there

  • its a lot different than disneyworld, i go to disneyworld a lot. so it gets boring, i really wana go to disneyland for a change

  • I am so excited to go on this really soon!!!

  • Absolutely amazing video - best one on youtube. Thanks for uploading :)

  • Freaky Haunted Mansion story: I once saw a real "ghost" there. I saw a dude standing in the graveyard (the one outside the ride) at night. He was looking only at me, then dissapeared. Weird, huh?

  • @booweazel1997 ive heared when someone dies the fan's family sneak their ashes to the graveyard. outside and spread it out usly their not alowed to but hey they always wanted more geusts =D

  • this is great! i ♥ how u did 4 at once 4 the photos!

  • nice idea for the streching room portraits

  • I'm going to Disneyland tomorrow for the first time in 3 years (which is way too long for someone who lives 20 minutes away) and I can't wait to finally be on this ride again! This one, and Pirates, Indiana and Space Mountain. Would you say the changes made the ride better?

  • Thanks for the excellent quality video and editing. Next best thing to being there. I remember anxiously awaiting this ride's opening when I was a kid. Wish the new rides had the creativity and whimsy of these old ones. Oh, well...

  • They said that the hearse at the entrence of the ride was the one that Brigham Young used, but that was disproved quiclky.

  • WOOT WOOT! Hatbox ghost!

  • which ones the hatbox ghost? i love this ride, i just cant remember

  • The Hatbox ghost was removed shortly after the ride opened. Every heartbeat of the bride would make his head disappear off his shoulders and appear in the hatbox he held. From what I hear they're putting him back into the ride after the Haunted Mansion Holiday.

  • which one was the hatbox ghost?? i went on it once before and i can't remember because it was like four years ago :D

  • i heard that they're bringing back the hatbox ghost. is that true?

  • Yes, it's true! They are bringing him back where he belongs in January, 2010!

  • @nicktheghosthost999, who or what is this Hatbox Ghost you mentioned?. why wwas it taken out? just curious I've been to Disneyland in Calif over the yrs and on the Haunted Mansion Ride...but don't recall any HotBox Ghost?.... can you explain what you ment?

  • @Astraldragon1 The Hatbox Ghost was an effect for the Mansion back in 1969. His effect was that with each beat of the bride's heart, his head would disappear from his body and reappear in the hatbox he was holding. But he was taken out because the imagineers couldn't get the lighting in the attic right for him to work, so he was taken out forever. But one day, I'm hoping that someday they will look at the technology that they have now and consider to bring him back. Someday...

  • @Astraldragon1 In the fantastic gatefold LP I had as a kid (and MEMORIZED before finally seeing the real thing!)m the ghost was in the attic, a cloaked, smiling skeletal thing holding a - yes - hatbox, and it was illustrated, and the LP explained the concept of the head appearing in it, but his was not depicted in the illustration OR in the ride, though I think the ghost appeared elsewhere, maybe in the graveyard.

  • @CrashingCrockery The Hatbox ghost was actually in the ride, in the attic scene, when the ride first opened. The idea was that lightning would flash and his head would disappear and reappear in the lightbox. However, due to his placement in the attic, you could still see the head after it "disappeared". So, the ghost was scrapped after a week or so.

  • @VRNProductions Oh that's too bad, I like that thing. Was he amongst the ghosties and ghoulies "thumbing" a ride with folks at the very end of the ride? I could have sworn I saw him SOMEWHERE, out of context from the attic, but it could just be my vivid imagination...!

  • @CrashingCrockery To my knowledge, he can't be found in the ride. He does kind of look like one of the hitch-hiking ghosts, but no, it's not him.

  • @VRNProductions Actually a photo of The Hatbox Ghost's face is in the Corridor of Doors. It's the almost skeletal face with the evil grin near the "Tomb Sweet Tomb" sampler (although you can't really see the lettering on this video).

  • I've been looking at the stories behind some of the ghosts in the mansion but i cant find the one about Constance, can someone explain who she is and what happened to her?

  • constance killed all her 5 husbands for money. She died of old age. PS: the mansion has no story to it, the brides story is the only thing official.

  • If you look on Wikipedia and other websites about the haunted mansion, it gives the full story on her. And How it started with a farmers son who gave her a set of pearls, it very creepy.

  • well those are fanmade stories, none are official.

  • I know. It's just good story telling. :)

  • i so can't wait for Constance to get husband #6 on 9-9-09! the mansion's 40th anniversary!

  • In the queue for this ride, my dad asked me if that was Paul Frees as the unseen ghost host. I scream good, but no one else did, however it resonated on them. Myself and a teenage boy screamed out loud when the lightening flashed.

  • lol the dead center

  • A little tidbit for you guys from when I worked there...in the room w/ all the dancing guests, on the far left of the "glass window" separating your seats that move to the left, there is a huge crack in the glass from a disgruntled guest years ago, they now altered the crack in the glass to look like a web :D

  • I've heard this story too. It's actually from a bullet hole, and the huge pane of glass couldn't be replaced unless you could remove the roof like you would a doll house so they put a giant spider there!

  • @skitch76cd Actually I heard it was actually BB, rather than a bullet. But I've also noticed on my last few trips (I'm an Annual Passholder, so I usually go once a month), the spider-web decal seems to be gone from it's usual spot.

  • Also another little fun tip. When you go on this ride keep all the little details of this story in mind. You will understand so much more of what's on this ride. =)

  • In 1810, a wealthy sailor, Captain Bartholomew Gore, built this Southern Style house for his young bride, Priscilla. Just before the wedding ceremony, the groom left to sail the sea and asked his bride to move into the mansion and wait for him. His one request was that she never enter the attic.

Many months passed. Fearing that her lover had died, Priscilla decided to learn her lovers secret. She entered the attic and opened some old trunks. There she discovered that he was a murderous pirate.

  • Just as she closed the trunks, Bartholomew appeared behind her. In a rage, he cut his fiancee's head off with an ax. Realizing he had killed the woman he loved, he hanged himself from the rafters in the attic. Which you can see at the beginning of the ride.

Priscilla's ghost still haunts the mansion. Her glowing heart a symbol of her enduring love.

    a book by Kendra Trahan

  • i love that haunted mansion! i went to it before

  • Nowdays, I don't know which is "scarier," losing your job or Disney's Haunted Mansion?

  • I'm going to California next friday, and my mom's arranged five days in Disneyland resort! (and two days in Universal Studios, which sounds proper)

My sister says that nothing's changed since the last time we went there years ago; I beg to differ. :P

  • Hey, this is what I found out:

When all four pictures appear in the beggining, look at the top left picture. If you are fast, she is sitting on a grave with the name 'George' engraved.

Legend has it that the woman with the rose is Constance, the attic bride. If you know the story, the last husband she married/murdered was George, and in their wedding photo, she had a rose in her hands....Spooky!

  • What do you mean by the "attic" bride?

  • The bride named Emily who is bleeding fiber optically in the attic that carries an axe in her hand.

  • You know, I might make a Haunted Mansion version like that. Imagine, it's Halloween, and I will be the host. With a lot of Disney Villains and spooks having fun by singing Grim Grinning Ghosts, with Maleficent as madame Leota and Cinderella as the bride. I might as well make that as soon as I get the onscreen footages.

  • at 2:30 that dead body imagine it fell on someone

  • there is a net below

  • the scrim woulld catch it

  • I want to go to Disney land in september, i was planning on august but I would rather go when its not so hot, how long does the Haunted Mansion ride stay this way I heard that they change it to a Nighmare before christmas theme approaching oct-dec.

  • HM usually shuts down right after Labor Day weekend and remains closed for all of Sept. It usually reopens the beginning of Oct with the Nightmare theme and stays that way until after the first of the year. - - RU

  • Thanks for the heads up, Im planning my trip to Disney Land on August 31 so I can make sure I ride the HM b4 they shut it down and before it turns into the whole Nightmare before Christmas things, ive seen that before and I really dont care for it.

  • @ru42 I wonder why they do that. Surely it can't be because of low demand, and I doubt the haunted mansion needs a whole month of updates.

  • @ru42 I actually couldn't find this from your profile, but I found it when I searched your name and 2007HM. Funny when I searched HM with your name originally it only showed he old one. Glad to know when those changes happen. I sure wouldn't want to go when it was closed or had Jack skelton. I didn't know it was a yearly thing now. Better to go before the heat starts if you want to avoid summer. I didn't know they changed some of the pictures. Was that the same woman that turned into a cat....

  • i hope not. i'm going in October! and haunted mansion will be my first ride!

  • I Love the ballroom

  • im gonna ride this ride 50,000 times! i cant wait to go to disney its gonna be my first time!

  • but now i love it i might go 2 disney in september if my two cousins come and my aunt mabey my grandma

  • this ride scared the living daylights out of me when i was little!! lol now i go on like nothing lmao!!

  • Really? I was brave when I was your age back when my parents were scared to death. That robotic zombie comes out from the burial grave hisses like a cat and gives you a gentle deadly breeze.

  • this is such a fun ride to go on!

  • was scarey when i was little

  • You were? I'm so sorry to hear that. My Uncle Joe was scared of it,too when it first opened and he didn't want to go inside the building.

  • this ride alwasy gives off a creepy atmospehere idk y?................

  • this ride reminds me of t THE TWILIGHT ZONE

  • im so excited to get on this ride next week...

  • i love the ride and the music

  • This ride also scared the hell out of my friend, Matt Mazzouco when he was 9 yrs. old.

  • Wow, this ghost host sounds almost identical to the Ghost Host in Haunted Mansion, Florida..... lol jk

  • @torkoal531: It's the exact same one. In fact, the voice of the ghost host (for both versions) is Paul Frees. One of Disney's regulars back in the day.

  • I love this ride. everytime my friends and I go on it they loose me cuz I'm short and when the doors open to go on the ride they have to hold on my shirt cuz I be movin.

  • my favorite ride <3

  • i went on this ride by myself and it was creepy!

  • most kids at disney world want to live in the castle I want to live in the mansion

  • who is that dead body hanging from the ceiling at 2:30

  • The Ghost Host.

  • REALLY!? oh my god! and im not being sarcastic

  • SOL! He was voiced by Paul Frees. Similar voice to Vincent Price. This fake spirit is unseen.

  • Paul Frees was the ghost host. Paul is a legend voice actor! Rest in peace Paul!

  • didn't he do that voice in michael jackson's thriller?

  • Thriller was Vincent Price I believe. Equally as creepy.

  • There's a soundtrack CD available at the park (I think it still is anyway...) and they have the French version which is actually narrated by Vincent Price. It's weird after being so used to this one. = )

  • Yes he was! We'll miss you,Paul Frees.

  • You had the same ghost in your car that I did when i went

  • What was his name? Gus sat with me when I was alone. I accidentally squished him. I tickled him in the mirror with my index finger. I had the black backpack with the Minnie Mouse light-up keychain by my feet. Phineas sat with my parents.

  • At the end, just before the "hurry back" girl, does anyone know the words to that song?

If you would like to join our jamboree,

    There's a simple rule that's compulsory:

    Mortals pay (a token fee?)

Rest in peace (for haunting spree?)

(So?) hurry back, we would like your company

You can't hear it on this video, but I've not been able to make out the end of it on the soundtrack CD either.

  • Here are the words as I know them. Doombuggies has a high-quality version of the exit song.

If you would like to join our jamboree

    There's a simple rule that's compulsory

    Mortals pay a token fee

Rest in peace, the haunting's free

So hurry back, we would like your company

Hope that help you out! :)

  • Ah OK so I was mostly right. = )

    It does help, thanks!

  • lol last time i went on that ride, by the end of the night everyone in the elevator new all the worlds and were saying them along with the guy....it was funny

    nice vid ^^

  • I love this ride I've rode it like 20 times!

  • a part was cut:

"do not pull down on the safety bar, please; i will lower it for you. and heed this warning: the spirits will materialize only if you remain quietly seated at all times."

  • How many times did you ride the ride while making this video?

  • Comment removed

  • What's the story of the new bride?

  • I heard that instead of all of the "i do's" from previous husbands, you now just see pictures of the same bride with different grooms.

  • Comment removed

  • She apparently KOed all of the rich old stiffs that she married for their money, pretty simple.

  • Well done as always. :) It's even spookier in the evening. :)

  • i love going on this ride and pirates of the carribbean at night for some reason. especially this ride cuz it creates the mood while waiting

  • there r 3 real ghosts in the ride

  • What do you mean wich 3 real ghosts?

That in the Haunted Mansion have real ghosts????

  • Are you talking about the hitch hiking ghosts...?

  • I think...

A guy said that there are 3 real ghost on the ride....

    But i don't know....

  • Well there's three hitch hikers and you look in a mirror and it looks like one's sitting next to you (That's what I remember, I may be wrong. The last time I rode it was back in '07)

  • Nop....You're not wrong, you're right.

I have a book of Disneyland that shows you all the rides. There's a photo that there's 2 guys screaming because a ghost is in the car

  • Ru42 can you plz replay what ride can i go with my friends tower of terror or hunted mansion cause im going with a girl

  • I really don't understand what your question is asking?

  • i was just asking what ride could i go with my girlfreind when my class goes in 4 weeks plz reply

  • what the hell are you on about?

  • That was really fun! Thankx.

  • Whoa! So now whenever the lightning strikes, the pictures show their evil side. Man how things have changed

  • Fun videos! good low light performance on your camera! what kind is it?

Did you peel Paul Frees' ride narration from a seperate source or did you record it live on the ride? Sounds as though you might be using a stereo shotgun mic on your camera.

  • I shoot using a SONY TRV22 and I indeed use a shotgun microphone. That audio is all live recordings.

  • your videos rock!!!!!

  • Another great video of yours man :D

  • Ru42, do you have to hide your camera when you take videos, or do they allow you to take videos?

  • Disneyland does not forbid the taping of most rides. Also, most rides forbid external lighting so you have to be really good to record dark rides like this one.

  • okay, Thanks!

  • I went there a super long time ago when I was 8, and it was great and watch this and have all the memories flooding back and being amazed at how much I remember :)

  • me too

  • WOW! Awesome effects and awesome shooting!

  • u shoot these vids really good! i was so tired of seeing other shaky videos of people on the ride

  • i love how you did the portrait room. a lot of people just spin around with the camera to get each picture and usually ends up looking blurry
