  • "my last supper(S)" LOL That was really cute! :-)

  • I can't figure out what is better right now a liquid diet or this pre-op diet. I can see the benefits of both. I'm guessing that after the first few weeks on the liquid diet it gets easier. Thank you for the nice comment!

  • I watched all your videos last night & I just wanted to say that you have the most beautiful smile. I have to do Optifast 4 weeks before surgery, 9/2 and I almost think I have easier since I too hate to measure food out.

  • Girl, I feel ya on this. I have been having the same issues...they tell me not to, and that is exact opposite of what I do. Our Kaiser plan is so rigid, and with our personal stresses...UGGGGG!!! BUT...we CAN do this!!! You're in my thoughts, hunny!

    (((Big Hugs)))

  • Thank you, I really do need the hugs right now. I know we can do this. This process of changing is tougher than I expected. Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts. You'll be in mine as well!

  • Planning and measuring can be so annoying !! But well worth it!

  • It is and I can definitely see the benefits of it. I just need to incorporate doing it all the time. Thanks for the comment.

  • Oh I know exactly how you feel. The second they told me I couldn't do this and couldn't do that. I wanted to do all the opposite. It takes time and your mind tries to SABATAGE. Don't get upset about it. Just do what you can do. And keep us updated! :D ~Nicol

  • Yes, that was exactly it. It was complete self sabotage mixed with a little defiance. I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one to do that. I'm moving past it, you live and you learn. Thank you!

  • Oh yes. I went thru it MANY times. As you might too. Just do NOT beat yourself up about it. Just move forward. If you sabatage one day. Try not to the next. All Baby steps. BUT remember you are on your way and you are doing great! :D ~ Nicol

  • Hey girl..Keep pressing on you are doing great!! :)Amy

  • Thanks for the support! I'm pressing on, its a new week.

  • Maintaining is ok girl......I hope you have a better week.....take care! :-)

  • Thanks, this week has been better already.

  • I know what you mean about measuring food. I don't ever do well on those kinds of diets. I'm a very structured person in every other aspect of my life. When it comes to food, all of that structure and order go out the window. WE WILL DO THIS MJ. We have to, we're out of other options. That's what I have to keep reminging myself. You're doing great and you will conquer!

  • Thanks Deb, We will do this. I like that you say we have to. Better health isn't an option anymore (it should have never been), its a necessity. I need to learn structure in the rest of my life, so maybe it will start with eating healthy and exercise.

  • So sorry you didn't have a good week--but if you want it enough mama you will do it. I know you will reach your goal...keep on keeping on and you will be there in no time.

    love brina

  • Thank you, I know that I want it and I know I will get there. It's just a bumpy road. Thank you for your encouraging words.

  • As long as your wagon has wheels, you can always get back in it! BTW green juice for the cravings. You will be glad you did.

  • Thanks! It does have wheels. I've never heard of green juice (like spinach or wheat grass) used for cravings, I'll try it.

  • You can juice your green veggies instead of cooking them. it will cut the craving down. Spinach, kale, collards, zucchini, celery, cabbage etc and you can add apple or pears or something to make it sweet. if you don't have a juicer you can always blend it. It taste different but it has the same effect (if you can swallow it) :-)

  • its the worst aint it? but it happens, we fall off the wagon...chase the bugger...and get on it again lol keep on rockin!

  • I'm chasing it, I think I'm almost completely back on. Thanks for making me laugh. I just had a visual of me running after a wagon. Stay fat-tabulous!

  • u can do it, buy a pack of gum it's helped me alot, specially when i get stressed, and drink as much water as u can before anything u eat.

  • Thanks Karissa (you have such a pretty name). My diet doesn't allow gum and I used to chew a lot of it, its a no-no for WLS patients (according to my program). Thank you for the suggestion on drinking a lot of water. I know it really does help.

  • thanks, that kinda sucks about the gum, cause i know stress dose make u wanna eat. i always thought that surgery was the easy way out, but i know now i was so wrong, u have to be a really strong person to be willing to go through it so i'll pray for u, and i hope that u get wonders out of it.

  • Thank you for praying for me. Surgery isn't the easy way out. That continues to become clearer and clearer to me even after all this time.

  • Hang in there! I know how you are feeling...but you are on the right track here, you are venting here and we are all here to help you and guide you with our stories/experiences. Let me know if you need me! Sally

  • Thank you so much for that comment. I was beginning to really question myself about my commitment to making these changes. Its just something that's going to happen over time and in my heart of hearts I know I am ready. Again thank you for sharing your story and being here.

  • Glad to hear you are back on track, thats great news, keep it up :)

  • Thank you. I'm staying focused and keeping my eyes on the prize :)

  • It's hard for sure but actually it's harder pre-op than it is post-op. Post-op your pouch restricts you and if you don't want leaks or complications your fear will restrict you as well. You won't feel as hungry usually post-op either. And to think, some people believe this is the easy way out! Hang in there...

    Donna:)

  • Thanks Donna. You know I keep seeing these videos where people say they're not hungry and I just can't imagine what that's like. I know its not everyone, but man I am looking forward to possibly not being hungry.

  • Yeah, well I wish I was one of those "never hungry" people post-op but I'm not. Not yet anyway. This one medicine cup of food 3x a day isn't cutting it but I'm hoping when I can add more food it will get better.

    Donna:)

  • Thanks Jane. The more videos I watch, especially lately, the more I realize I need to get used to following someone else's plan for what I need to eat. It's been a process for me. I'm doing about half of what the program has asked of me and I'm working on the other half. I thought it was crazy to only eat 3 times a day, but now it's part of my routine. Hopefully the other things will become part of my routine, too. It helps knowing everyone is pulling for me and being so encouraging.

  • Gosh, I hate to say it, but you really have to follow your docs plan so that your liver can be in good shape for surgery... might as well get use to the regimentation now because, boy, does it get worse after surgery..no kidding! We are all pulling for ya!
