We need to get back to the true WORD OF GOD!! Not this live like the world church! This coffee sipping, seeker friendly crap is from the pits of HELL! And I can scriptually prove it word for word! We need Bible truth regardless of these hell bound idoits that refuse the truth!!
@brianpowers2011 i dont think they have gotten to the sermon yet...this is the worship session. Afterwards, they get into the Word. If you've check out the sermons, youll be able to see how they get into the Word, and quite well. Hope you've checked them out - because youre not gonna be able to tell whether or not they get into the Word from just watching a worship song on youtube. And granted, the worship song they play here, seems to praise the God in the Word for who He really is - right?
@chance2try I've seen his rantings (Pastor Anderson) on Youtube and all I can say is........he needs to worry about his own church in Arizona and not what we're doing in South Carolina. I NEVER listen to a preacher who rants and/or bad-mouths another church of God. Next.....................
music was created to worship God so i have nothing against that. but like some commented, if the music draws you away from truly worshiping then that's not a good sign.
anyhow, awesome guitar players :) especially the guy playing the strat :) love them dotted 8th
I think both sides have a valid point. however I think the truth really lies in the balance between the two. There's nothing wrong with crankin it or throwin in some sweet guitar riffs but when the total focus of the song is just to achieve a sonic presence and strays from being about leading others in worship, you've lost your focus.
That comment about the whole "you must be serving a little God if the music distracts you" thing was totally rediculous. That comment was totally judgemental, self-righteous and definately not yours to say.
I wouldn't say it was self-righteous. But if music can keep you from worshiping God then he must be a small God. Nothing will get in the way of me worshiping my God. I can worship to bluegrass as much as I can to this. I think Perry Noble (pastor of newspring would tell you the exact samething. As a matter of fact he did say that in one of his previous messages.)
Because it's pointless to say someone serves a small God because we all know he's not. I can see that we must choose to push on in our worship (not just onSundays, but everyday life), but to make a comment like that still isn't something to be said, and just because a pastor said it doesn't mean it's right. There's some truth behind the reason you say it, but the wording it destructive, not constructive. It doesn't bring encouragement at any level.
I believe cornmill is trying to say is that if a person gets distracted by the music itself from totally worshiping and surrendering to God in worship..they aren't worshiping the omnipotent/omnipresent God that you said we all know about, but a "god" little "g" which perhaps may be the music itself, or maybe some other self-serving purpose. God seeks out those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth. Whether it's by using an orchestra pit, or a voice, it's a heart of worship that matters.
God is faithful to us in the sense that no matter how many times we spit in HIS face and renounce HIM, the second we decide that WE are jacked up, messed up, screwed up people and we can't do it without HIM, we are welcomed home like the prodigal son.

If the music and the atmosphere keep you from worship than you serve a small god. I hate that music can pull you away from worship.

I suppose if you go to church to watch a concert, this would be good, I thought worship was supposed to be particpatory.
God is faithful to us? Sounds backwards to me.
