No offense, but I don't think you are being fair here. Cristians were much more cruel and barbaric during the time of the crusades. I would go so far as to call them evil. Remember that the muslims were defending themselves against aggression. However I do find it somewhat tragic that the cultures who used to be so far ahead of us then are today so far behind us.

Most of the things that the Catholic church said back then about the Muslims was a little over exagerated. Of couarse this new act by the church was very succesful,(for the First Crusade at least)it spawned a new hatred of the Jewish people. The only good thing that actualy came out of it was contact with the Far East. And I think SempreItalia's remark was totaly uncalled for. The Muslim people will never degrace such a Holy site such as the Temple mount or the Holy Sepulcher. Good Video though.

in my opinion the muslims were a little cruel for 1) hiding the faces or hair of a women and her not having ANY rights(that could be culture in most of the middle east sorry if i got that wrong) 2)destroying lands full of culture such as constanople 3)killing all crusaders having no mercy on them at all! burning their churches and killing any christian in your land 4) you are in war with jerusalem for 2000 years and never thought of a simple peace treaty

No offense, but I don't think you are being fair here. Cristians were much more cruel and barbaric during the time of the crusades. I would go so far as to call them evil. Remember that the muslims were defending themselves against aggression. However I do find it somewhat tragic that the cultures who used to be so far ahead of us then are today so far behind us.

Consider that the land was no more Muslim than Christian. The Muslim nations had relatively recently conquered it themselves. The Crusaders genuinely believed they were doing God's work. As for barbarism, there was evil done on both sides. People highlight Saladin, but forget men like Qutuz and Baibars. The Crusades were not right, but neither, I would argue, were they wrong.

The only hero of the Crusades was Saladin, he made peace with Richard the Lionhart giving some of the holy lands to the crusaders. The land was not originally Egypts, it was conquered. You can't say "It's their land" unless you want to drive it too the roots as to who the Holy lands really belonged too.
Both Crusaders and Jihad soldiers were ruthless, pillaging, and burning wherever, not one side can be justified.
