  • they dont, you all are stupid, the elephant is being guided buy its tusk or something... other videos illustrate this..

  • I cannot paint an elefant :/

  • Can any other animals paint?? Beaten or not..

    Perhaps monkeys?

I had no idea elephants had the intelligence for this.

  • mike41990 why are humans so arrogant?

if you take a look at your own chanell with perspective you surely you can see that this elephant shows more cogniscence and existential thought process than you.

the Eliphant ,whether you like it or not is creating an origional piece of work.

show me something that YOU have created from scratch. all you have posted is 'coppys' of othe peoples work.

coppying is what you accuse the Eliphant of , yet it is the basis fo your own M.O,.

    GROW SOME BALLS.

  • i laugh when i hear people referring to these as "self-portraits" or "paintings of other elephants". I think that the elephant does not even know what it is painting. All it knows is the sequence of lines it must put onto the canvas so that it is not punished by the trainer.

  • It's Not fake....But if i hit you with a steel rod long enough , yer ass will paint elepahants too...LOL Im kidding....this is awsome...

  • Actually you're not far from the truth, DieOnMyFeet... this is in fact how they're trained to do this, and many other tricks. They are beaten. It's as simple as that.

  • its not fake you dumb asses!

Some elephants in Thailand have been trained to paint self portraits.

Videos of elephants painting self-portraits have circulated the internet leaving many to wonder if they had been part of a hoax. The myth-busting website De-Fact-o[dot]com has dedicated an article to validating the authenticity of the videos.

  • Now I know how Bush makes it through his State of The Union speaches. He probably has Dumbo's trainer.

  • arrr poor elephant

  • is there some kind of microchip embedded into this baby elephant's brain? it's amazing how advanced our technology have become (especially in countries where elephants like this lives in) :P

  • I have looked at 29 of these videos now, and I don't know what's real online any more than you. But it sure looks like elephants can paint. I'm going down to the mall and ask how much they'll charge to do my portrait.

  • this is cool!!!

  • I found it very sad. Little by little we are finding out how intelligent they are (animals in general); they must think we are monsters, the way we treat them and make them suffer. When are we going to learn to respect them and let them be? we are so behind...can't wait for the day when all zoos and circuses are banned.

  • You realize this Elephant was rescued from severe mistreatment, right?

  • well exactly it!

  • yes true zoos and circuses should be shut down no question.

  • Uhhh, I can paint better, trust me

  • yea? well you ahve aposable thumbs and have been doing it since you were a baby. and we are also more adaptive to this stuff... elephants and animals are more adaptable to surviving.

  • omg, really? But, I thought animals paint all day in the forsest?

  • well i heard that they do.. they just whip out a peice of paper and 36 colour set. the famus pocasso was a elaphant, thats why his paintings were messed up.

  • Oh ok nice, well I guess ill see if the monkey living in my backyard can paint aswell eh?

  • well there was this goose in my pool that painted like vango

  • Damn, Tell ur goose my monkey said hi

  • will do

  • hhehehe you guys are funny!

  • yea, me too they paint for fun, only in our demented lil minds, poor elephant

  • I was really amazed until I noticed that the handler was carefully guiding the elephant. It's the handler doing the painting. Still a remarkable demonstration of the delicate grasp of the elphant and remarkable coordination of man and beast.

  • No, it's the elephant doing the painting but that is how they are trained. The young elephants are guided by hand whilst being rewarded untill they memorise the image. They then draw it anyway they like in any order they like. The trainer hands them brushes and redips the brush with the right amount of paint. That is the only interaction or guidance by the trainer

  • fantastic

  • Watch the eliza show! its about elephants too!

  • so cute
