  • SOMEONE LET ALLAN HOLDSWORTH KNOW ABOUT THE MOOG GUITAR NOW!!!11!1!!

  • @thehside: It's more like: "Tell Moog to send Holdsworth a free Moog Guitar." It'll help sell guitars as much or, as it'll affect Alan's playing.

  • Thumbs up if getting drunk and high and youtubing "moogs" brought you here.

  • I sell one of my kidneys in exchange for this guitar. Is there someone interested in buying one?

  • sick

  • "This does this..."

    Thanks, Lou.

  • living colour .....BANJO?

But on a serious note does it stay in tune? is i a bitch to adjust and mantain? Why doesnt it have the perfect intonation neck

  • wow that impressive.whats next moog clavinet?

  • i just happend to be wearing a lou reed tshirt right now

  • I want.

  • Wow that's fucking amazing. I want one so bad. I gotta throw some distortion behind those effects. Think of the outro in Floods by Pantera.

  • I read about this a while ago. It's not midi or post FX. If I understand it correctly, the pick ups actually generate vibration to sustain the note, and can generate counter-vibration (think noise cancelling headphones) to mute a note.

  • Lou Reed likes it. Therefore I like it

  • It is like a sustainer guitar on steroids. The string have an extra steel content so that the magnets pick them up better. The moog filters in it are amazing. It also has a piezo pick-up in it. I own one. Trust me. It is amazing.

  • @guyblank haha I was just hoping it had piezo too

  • its just got sustainer pickups and a little electronic tweaking.

  • @Zangetsuis1 I thought that too. Electronics, but surprisingly clean.

  • So it's midi?

  • For some reason i think everything sounds chinese on that guitar

  • 0:56 epic Chinese music.

  • do u have to use a special type of string or can u use any type u want

  • @spillmanracing you can use any strings but the moog string sound and work better for some reason.. hmmmmmm

  • And I would love to see Jeff Buckley use one of those. The sound that comes from this guitar reminds me of the sound of Jeff Buckley. The last piece in this movie was wonderful.

  • Jeez. This is amazing.

  • AmAzInG MoOg GuItAr!!!

  • @royzguitar wHy dO YoU tYpe LiKE tHIs!?!?!?!?

  • I soo want to add this guitar to my collection.

  • this thing looks insane!! hopefully ill get to play one, one day, if you wanna check out my bands music video in 1080p,click the video respone link :)

  • Wow, a truly innovative, new guitar. very beautiful sound, moog has not let me down yet.

  • Imagine if Jason Becker would have it but I think he made these sounds with normal guitar- he was that grrrrreat he S that grrreat

  • fuck check that sustain man!

  • Sick! :P

  • imagine that with a digitech wammy

  • Enough of all this praise for the Guitar! I want to see how it works

  • vernon reid!

  • This is the kind of Guitar I need! It is a very good guitar, but I noticed one flaw; it does NOT have the "Abalone Dot inlays" in the standard numbering sequence on the frets etc, - I wonder why?? They better design one that does! Whatever!

  • Free Bird!

  • 4K for this? I like it.

  • This seems like a good idea but this still needs A LOT of work. and is there a reason why the action is ridiculously high?? look at 1:00 if you missed it. Also you guys might want to try doing these in 7 and 8 string versions because we all know how stubborn 6 string guitarist can be to new ideas. :P

  • anyone know some music that sound like that? it's so awesome sounding i want some

  • Anyone else think this would be the ultimate accessory for Adrian Belew?

  • lol i want 1

  • THIS IS IT!

now... put the logarithmic frets (Steve Vay have one of those...) on the MOOG guitar and it is the best guitar ever built. it is a new type of instrument.

with the possibilities of a MOOG guitar it does more as just sound like it sound. it can simulate other instruments and their characteristics.

  • this is the most important musical invention since the electric guitar itself. it's like a whole new thing, barely recognizably sounding like a guitar. the things i would do for one of these. i would sit on the same chair for hours playing nothing, it's just insane.... if only they could make a cheaper version

  • idk if you guys know this or not but jeff beck has been doin this shit with a regular guitar for years

  • scary this is black magic oO

  • smartest guitar ever....

  • as much as i love the Moog guitar and Moog for all their great products, I honestly cant wait for Moog's patent to run out on this thing, and let Gibson and Fender have a fiddle with this technology..

  • I wanna try one! The guys at Moog should get an endorsement by Terje Rypdal!

  • Needs more distortion.

  • Progressive rock: meet your new favorite friend! xD

  • so who wants to buy me one?

  • if only it came in 7 string

  • this guitar belong more in the hands of steve wilson more than any of the artists mentioned below. think about it. he creates the best atmospheres in rock so imagine what he could do with the sustain feature

  • built in ebow for the sustain. the muting im not sure

  • Great guitar. Now make a bass version so I can do this. :)

  • now put a chaos pad on it

  • Finally, music will have some innovation again.

  • @gamexprt1

lol where the hell have you been? Music has innovation occur all the time. Most people are oblivous to this or simply choose not to acknowledge it.

  • @gamexprt1

    dont hold your breath

  • make a fretless moog guitar and ill buy one

  • come to my channel to see a MOOGERFOOGER LPF with an ukulele and a bass guitar!

  • makes everything too easy

    stupid thing

  • Gimme more of Vernon Reid on it ! Also some David Torn, Bill Frisell, etc

  • hehehe Moog is just like the Cocain!!

Sometimes is expensive, but you love it

  • This is awesome!

  • Imagine Allan Holdsworth wielding one of these. Holy shit. This is actually amazing.

  • Can you imagine if Hendrix had this? The star spangled banner gives you a small idea hehe. This is just amazing even to look at.

  • How can 58 people NOT like this video? Who are they? People who abstain progress?!! U 58 people are either living in the 50's, or are POP Producers.. The LOWEST form of Musician.

  • Giraffes? Giraffes! Moog guitar. Nao.

  • 2:38

allan holdsworth does that stuff anyway.

awesome guitar though, i'd love to have one of those

  • "I've been trying guitar synths to try to get something to do this and none of them do this... this does this"

I am in awe of Lou reed's mastery of the English language

  • Why you put "not a guitar synthesizer, not a MIDI guitar or an effects processor" in the description? Are u saying that guitar is better than a MIDI-Signal one?

  • man, if only (famous guitarist X) had this guitar, (famous concert/album Y) would have been amazing!

  • @Davidicus400 Or more precisely: Man, if only (famous guitarist X) had this guitar, (famous concert/album/song Y) would have been (adjective Z)!

  • @Davidicus400

(Famous guitarist X) sucks ass. You must be (insult). Quit being (question sexual orientation).

  • now does it come in left handed?

  • I believe the Edge is the first official artist to use this kind of technology... i could be wrong... he uses it to play "With or Without You"

  • o.O Want.

  • I want one!

As soon as I heard it, I thought of Vernon Reid ... and sure enough, there he is! :)

  • An e-bow? but perhaps coming from where the pickups are (that black thing)?

  • amazing

  • thats more like a keyboard...

  • if only david gilmoure of pink floyd had used this guitar in the 70's it would've been magical i can only imagine, i think we can discover music all over agian with this guitar

  • @thebadroadissuperbad Please, david gilmour isn't the only great guitarists of the history. That just means you haven't heard enough music. If you search hard enough, you'll find magic elsewhere that you thought you'd never see

  • @thebadroadissuperbad

dude pink floyd would would be even trippier!!!

  • dude if david gilmour would've had this guitar in his pink floyd day that would've been magical i can only imagine, i think we can discover rock agian with this guitar and have a whole new woodstock!!! with new musicians and new drugs?!?

  • anyone know if they make or are going to make left handed models ?

  • Wow.....how much?

  • WOW

  • that's not a guitar that's...MOOG!!!

  • u don't need to pick on these guitars =)

  • if only Hendrix was alive to use this, that would be fukin incredible!

  • @MrJTMagnum23 we have better guitarist now such as Joe Satriani

  • i bet Mr Steve Vai would have fun on one a these :D action looked a bit hi but sounds awesome

  • Muted, it sounds like a pipa

  • I WANT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol jk i play heavy metal useless 2 me but still awesome guitar, good 4 jazz

  • If only a push pull tremolo system could exist with that

  • How the hell does it do what it does? I'd be very interested to find out, if anyone has any info.

  • very cool!!!

  • sustaining pickup costs 200 bucks

  • Searching for that new sound?

  • ias sounds awesome clean but how does is sound with gain?

  • I love the....last ~20 seconds. So amazing. I wish I played guitar...

  • now just add a kaoss pad, and someday some1 like matt ballemy may be intrested.. just cause of the incredible sustain

  • Does it use normal strings? Like if a string breaks can you just go out and buy another one or use the same ones you use for another guitar? or do you have to special order certain strings?

  • are all these guys using it on clean for a reason or? I don't mind just wondering if it does overdrivE?

  • @CastellanMusic i'm sure you could use overdrive with it.

  • it's probably by choice, i like distortion but i think it would taint the sound

  • I think Buckethead uses that when he does the Halloween Theme.

  • @aLevitatingPnut

    He doesn't

  • Mmmm. Pretty nice sound. Perfect for Psychedelic. Compatable with the Blues. Great for Soft Rock. Excellent for Jazz.

I wonder what it would sound in a Hard Rock enviroment.

I can't even imagine the guitarists who would jizz for this. Robert Fripp and pretty much any experimental guitarist.

This may be the future of guitars. The pick-ups are magnets for crying out loud!

It reminds me of a sitar for some odd reason though.

  • @BigTymerPimp Not just hard rock, but like, death metal XD i want it, you think it'd work alright in drop b?

  • @BigTymerPimp Probably because of the strange harmonics the pickups make during a sustain. Or something, I'm not TOO learned when it comes to guitars. :P

  • pffff bullshit xD just 1 more special effect nothing more good work but nothing special at alll as i said>_>

  • i dont really understand what this guitar is. Could someone please explain it to me? it sounds really cool

  • This rapes gibsons dusk tiger piece of crap Gibson is an awesome company they're just wastin their time in these ugly guitars with no point.

  • this thing looks so BA!

  • yea its 3397.97 for the E1 with the tremelo and like3200 without it. fuckin awesome possibilities

  • That is fucking amazing

  • Starting at 4:05 until the end, that tune he's playing is so beautiful. Is that just improv or is it part of a real song? Whatever it is it sounds amazing.

  • Ah if Hendrix had gotten his fingers on one of those!!!

  • how much money is this guitar? I have to buy one guitar like this & also i have to buy other guitar like: Squier , Fender VG Stratocaster , Hamer , Gibson , Gibson SG Supreme , Gibson SG Standart & a guitar like this one wow

  • It sounds soooo synthy. I love it!

  • some of the parts played sounds like something We Came As Romans would play!

  • okay this is cool but it's been around forever, it's just the same concept as the sustainiac (which has been out for quite a while). It's an active pickup that's inducing vibrations in the strings based on a feedback loop. the mute feature is just inverting the phase of the input signal so it inhibits rather than strengthens the vibrations.

  • LOL @ 1:17

    It sounds like a banjo.

  • i wanna make that fuckin thing crry

  • So tell it a sad story.

  • Can you get a similar sound with a compression sustainer?

  • pretty freakin cool, the mute feature seems so nice. anyone know what these things cost?

  • The Moog guitar...its like 3,000 - 4,000 dollars...saw one in 48th street in NYC....

  • The E-1 with tremolo goes for $3650 US...about the cost of a high end Les Paul, Fender, or PRS.

  • 5k was the collectors edition. 3,500 for the fixed bridge and 3,700 for the tremolo bridge.

  • 4500 for additional midi function...it's so awesome :D

  • awesome guitar read an article about it says its all in the pickups that they are electro magnets or something like that

  • @comet752 All guitar pickups are electro magnets. This guitar has a MIDI interface, allowing it to get different sounds, or you could just go for a straight guitar sound

  • Could you get something like this with a compression pedal?

  • cool

  • woooo rock on feedback

  • my god. this is incredible

  • Could anyone imagine what Guthrie Govan would do with one of these?!

  • Holy shit. Guthrie would change the world with this guitar, lol.

  • that is a very cool thought!!!

  • Congrats guys! You have created a modern version of the guitars I built twenty years ago. Sounds almost identical to the 59 strat that I had running since 1983. My Hagstrom Swede has been operating since 1984. and can be seen on youtube "infinite sustain guitar".

The "is" guitar was featured on the 1992 release "No Age Music" where the Swede takes lead on "Night in Paris", and performs a solo in the composition "Fractals".

The Strat can be heard on "Vibrancy"

  • Way to make the ebow into individual string magnetrons. Sustain for every string. Very nice Mr. Moog's company!

I supose you could get the very same effect by putting multiple ebows together. But hey making the string holders the source of the electronic reverberation in a nice modification to the electric guitar.

A kill switch would be an upgrade!

  • 1:04 sounds like a koto, or traditional chinese music

  • The only bad thing I could say about this guitar is that ALL the parts are specifically made for that guitar, even the strings. I bet even changing the strings could cost you a pretty penny.

  • Love it at 3:33 - like Stanley Kubrick Space Odyssey stuff!

  • ah god I loved the sound of this...if I got one of those I would go to sleep, pull a string while holding a finger on the fret and just sleep....

  • im sorry, i mean only the sustain, not the muting

  • whats the secret behind its functions? the pick ups? because you can do all this with the fernandez sustainer

  • My god, think of what Hendrix could've done with one of these.

  • this is such a trippy guitar!

  • That's some really interesting thing!

  • @Bassbait, no, it has a small nuclear device inside it which is designed to detonate when it detects a Metallica riff being played.

  • Lou Reed is cool

  • I'm a guitar noob.

What is that pink thing on his pinky at 3:13 ?

  • that was crazy... the bottleneck slide didn't ring any of the other strings, and the guy wasn't palm muting the other strings... that is so awsesom

  • it's not history.. you can make this sound with a normal program or adding a pedal effect..

i wouldnt buy the guitar just because of that effect

  • just buy an ebow, and umm palm mute if your not that lazy.

  • So beautiful...so expensive...:(

  • can you just play the damn thing like a normal guitar?

  • its sounds just like it has a fernandes sustainer in it.i remember playing one in the late eighties.

  • Watch Phil Keaggy moog guitar

  • shuld be be called the moogtar... lol

  • Crazy!

  • if vernon reid approves, which he does, i'm buying!

  • I need one of these. So badly.

  • Imagine if this were to fall in the hands of Steve Hackett

  • or Steve Vai

  • That was my thought when I saw this clip.

  • Cool, can I use it for metal?

  • That's like driving to school in a Ferrari Enzo. Sure, it looks pure awesome but it's capable of so much more, eee!

  • What CAN'T you use it for is a better question. It's a guitar... put it through the right effects and overdrive... and what do you get, just like any guitar, metal...

  • for metal it would probably be decent for some sort of wierd pendulum style intro, i know they're drum n bass but you get me right? just building up to something big sorta sound

  • Too bad the guitar only has a MIDI output :(

  • i agree with wosko, it really seems like its just way too good to be true.. i bet their lying.. lol i bet there are midi pickups inside there somewhere, and a mini processor in there as well hahaha

  • something this cool obviously came from moog

  • i want one, but how much are they

  • I though of that immediately!

  • And it's only $6,000!

...that's actually not that bad for something like this if you think about it...

  • just think of what pink floyd would do with this guitar...
