What it is, is what happens to Earth while Chief lands, Mombasa is a place on Earth, check it out on Tsavo Highway if ya must it says Mombasa 117KM and if ya look on the city, this is Mombasa and amazingly on the bridge thats broken look in the distance theres a city been attacked, plus someone from rainbow 6 has been working close with the Halo community, it's a squad based shooter using Marines, the other side of the fight you didnt see while playing as Chief :) there ya go in a nutshell.

yea its just a campaign add on i agree with Darthphill. Halo 3 was the end of the Halo series there will be no Halo 4 i just htought you should all know. The cliffhanger at the end of Halo 3 was actually meant for a new series coming out.
