That wing would not provide sufficient groundforce for corners until you hit at least 100mph, and then only wide turns. A generic Honda Accord has a wing, and it's about as much help this one. The super is a good road car, but Hyabusa is hp overkill. Didn't see the wreck or the turn set, but he probably plowed, either poor lead into the turn, or braking too heavy as he started sliding. Or both. Compare to youtube Mini Vtek Honda Nurbring for comparison. Slides, skids, still a great run.
@generalxanos first off, "groundforce" is a TV show about gardening. Wings start making downforce from as low as 60mph, and in fact are in effect at even lower speeds although only experienced racing drivers can tell the difference. Slow (street) cars like Hondas and whatnot have wings that are mostly cosmetic.
The "Black Brick" a late '70's clubman racer in the U.K. started much as this with a Caterham Super Seven Series III adding all these wings and eventually went to an all enveloping aerodynamic body. It was very fast in it's day.
Lack of driving skill is definitely not an issue here. If you had any idea of the experience Dave has as well as the amount of R&D he has put into these cars you might understand. Have a look at the 2010 video " Caterham Super 7 Hayabusa Knox Mountain Hillclimb 2010 2nd FTD "and see if you still think driving skill is questionable.
Well first nothing happened and then confusingly nothing happened again. Eventually, and out of sight ,nothing happened for the final time. Why isn't this thing faster?
@420witchdoctor I know caps-lock is king and all, but I seriously doubt that, that spoiler should make decent downforce, they angle of approach is far too steep.
Thanks for the great compilation. A Marmot ran across the road in front of me just before turn 5. Allen Reid beat the time I set on my 1st timed run for FTD by .15secs. The crash was on my 2nd official run. I'll be back next year now that I will be a pensioner!! Cheers. David
Its nice to see the track lined with tires, it saved this 7, though it looks like there might be some chassis issues underneath.

@generalxanos the crash was due to him avoiding an animal that ran onto the track.

adding downforce to a caterham is just dumb, the car is so un-aerodynamic to begin with that it is pointless. and yes, i am a caterham owner.
just search on youtube and you will see that no one puts wings on their caterham, even the race cars. there is a reason for this.
lotuselise2009 11 months ago
@lotuselise2009 are you retarded? its not for the aerodynamics, its to keep the rear end from spinning out on the hills

Too bad that downforce won't compensate for lack of driving skill.

As my buddy says... If my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle! Funny. Neat car though, I like bike engined cars - cool tech.

@lotuselise2009 This caterham is a race car. Not a "cruise for fun" car. The wing is for downforce
DavidoggL 11 months ago
@DavidoggL a race car? then how come it doesnt have a fully built cage like every other caterham race car?
lotuselise2009 11 months ago
@lotuselise2009 It does have a cage... If you look in the car, that's what those poles are for....

I like the yellow on green font and background color scheme. I'm assuming that's a throw-back to the original color scheme of the 7.
