Well, if you want to learn to shoot well I would recommend something chambered in .22LR. Lots of options for a rifle in that caliber as well, leads to cheap fun shooting. 500 rounds for $30 bucks is never a bad deal.
This was my second gun, and I would say it dose the job, but it breaks the bank in ammo costs. I might recommend going for something where you can shoot military calibers (5.56, 7.62, 308, 30-06) , as it will be cheaper.
just put it on layaway. is it worth it? it's my first big game rifle. i tried for an a.k. 47 but the store damaged the barrel. i know what you're going to say, and i aim for the head. i hate wasting meat
I would say its a nice gun, and a fun toy. The design is proven, although with this model I have had issues with the feeding from the mag to the chamber, either the round not feeding as quickly as I can pump it, or jamming in the feed-path. Other then that, the fit and finish is nice, balance good. I would say it would make a solid hunting rifle, but I personally wouldn't try for anything beyond 50 meters or so, as I have better guns for that.
thank you, and i had a mossberg 802 plinkster last year with the same loading problems. but it was a bolt action. the only thing you said that i don't like is the range. i like taking far shots without the scope. and the .22 i had last year was accurate up to 250 yards. since last year was the first year i ever went hunting i'm a little clueless. all i know is how to stalk and shoot. if you could recomend some good guns i'd appreciate it. thanks again friend
Yes, It would be capable of further, I just have better guns for that ;) The 464 has a fairly loose feel to how it shoots. Off the bench I have some inconsistency that I don't get with my other rifles.
I don't think I could give you a good suggestion, it comes down to personal feel. But I have found to that you get what you pay for though. The anschutz I have is able to shoot through the same hole at any distance, but that is over engineered German excellence.
bout to turn 18 and it will be legal for me to own a rifle, do you think this would be a good first gun?
