GIMP - liquid rescale (aka seam carving)

The plugin is fantastic. Its similar to that feature in Photoshop CS5 but its amazing that its on GIMP but this shows the power of open-source.

@HUNDOLOS Better quality? Never tried it out though. How do you know that? Even if the quality is not as good as PS, one must admire how a free program as GIMP can manage to have the same function as a hugely funded program such as Photoshop.

@8jwong14 Well I do know because I did try them out... Unless I missed some important option about it in PS (probably not), the GIMP one gives a smoother, better rendered result, taking some computing time though. With the PS one, you can resize real-time (like normal resize) - you can't do this with the GIMP one - but it also takes time ti finalise in PS, and with a lower quality result, at least for my taste.

I finally played with content-aware scaling in the PS CS4 trial and gimp and it's some impressive stuff.
