Some great songwriters like Dylan, Kristofferson, and Stephen couldn't carry a tune across a shallow creek vocally. But, my goodness, they surely knew how to rip at the soul with their lyrics. This is a beautiful piece of music.
I Miss You GFS... Tears still come whenever I hear your voice, or when all the years of memories visit me. There will never be a time that I will NOT be ETERNALLY GRATEFUL for you being in my life.
I was blessed to call him friend. Nights in Malibu, sitting, talking and playing guitar. The kinds of things you do with friends. He was a gentle soul and easy to to get to know and to talk with. Bless you Stephen, I cried all night when I heard that you were gone. This world is not as beautiful, without you in it.
Wow, this song is deep............. I have heard it about 20 times in the past half hour and it continues to hit right at the heart, if your feelings are equal to what he wrote. I have never heard of Stephen Bruton until today and I can not belive I have missed out on his words. Something so real and true with no extras of anything other than his tunes and Voice. Your Soul Lives on with your music.....
@jilly912 It is getting real old finding 'new to me' music then learning the performer has left us. I learnd about Stephen from listening to Jeff Bridges.
if there's more video material with Stephen PLEASE, PLEASE SHARE! The Black/White videoclips in the studio are so beautiful. Great artist. It's nice to seehim perform.
We have so many memories of Stephen. (Sure does feel odd without him in Austin anymore.) R.I.P. friend. I know you are surrounded by beautiful angels now.
It's with deep sadness I got the news about TSB death. Since the first time I saw him smiling threw a hole Bonnie Raitt show in Gothenburg Sweden in the early 90', I've been following Stephens music. I been lucky to catch him two times solo in Sweden and once in Austin. He's music and lyrics has made me cry, smile and laugh threw the years. I never got to know him, but he felt like a friend. My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Stephen
From those who were close, it has been relayed that Stephen was in the best place mentally that he could be when he passed. He had called us a few weeks ago to say he was getting well. Now, we know that this was his way to not let us worry, and to make his stage exit gracefully. He was our friend for 40 some years. . . bless you, dearheart.
This man changed how I view guitar playing and songwriting. I was able to see him a year ago at the Saxon Pub in Austin. Truly Amazing RIP. Another great Fort Worth musician has passed.
This song is even better today than it was when I first heard it. So glad to hear that Stephen is doing well and is back on the job. Love Him and still praying for his full recovery
I've spent the day trying to find an update on Stephen's condition and also listening to his song on myspace WOW !! I'm usually very hard to impress but these sons are sooo beautiful.
I have heard him for the first time. I like this kind of country ballads and the instrumental set. I am from Germany but job forces me to live in Baku/Azerbaijan. Maybe that makes me a little bit sentimentel. like to hear more.
What an awesome song, so beautiful.
