  • this man keeps me sober in all my thoughts

  • Easy Tiger is one of my favorite albums of the past ten years :)

  • As a song writer he is way up there with McCartney, Brian WIlson and Neil Finn

  • The best singer/songwriter on earth, a pure lyrical genius!!

  • everything about him is perfect, even the imperfections.

  • 1:00 Ryan Adams rocks because he wears an 80's calculator watch!

  • I bet that dick who decided to thumbs down this is looking like a right fool right about now.

  • when lyrics meet melody! one of the best song writers hands down.

  • I'm so obsessed with ryan adams.. Its amazing.

  • man, i love how much Yahoo supports DRA!

    more, always need more!

  • *scribbles down the names of every artist suggested among these comments*

*scratches out vanilla ice and mc hammer*

  • yes, yes

    i agree

  • Sorry, the second, not the seventh:)

  • He is too good for country...too rebelious for rock...and too smart for pop...so we can only refer to him as the inventor of Alternative Country.

  • Actually I would say Gram Parsons invented "Alternative Country". Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this guy to death. But he didn't invent "Alt. Country"...Also I rarely ever put labels on music...Cause as this guy proves he can not only do country, but also rock and much more...If I had to describe him to somebody I'd say "he's got a old fashioned country feel but there is plenty more in him too." I kind of went on about nothing at the end there...Sorry but anyway

  • Perhaps the words I should have used are He perfected Alt. Country. I too dislike musical labels when it concerns REAL artists and performers. One can easily label the everyday crap that's on the radio, but these guys are a bit more difficult. I love G. Parsons as well, and if you look hard enough you can find a version of "A Song for You" that Whiskeytown did. I just think Ryan is an "alternative" to the terrible country music that is shoved down our throats today as well as the rock, etc.

  • Yeah...Music on the radio has gone to complete shit. Especially country music. It's lost all of it's mystery and beauty. There are no more dark eyed crooners singing about back alley bars and loves lost....It's sad. But if you steer away from radio you will find some excellent musicians still moving forward. Ryan Adams is one of them. But there are many...Have you heard of Robert Francis? A guy I just found out about and thus far he's blown me away... Check him out man. You'll love him.

  • I have only found a limited supply of Robert Francis, but I like what I hear. Thanks for the suggestion buddy. I agree with you about country losing it's soulful resonance and such. It's a shame that there has been a world-wide "dumbing" down of all music. It used to be about lyrics and soulfulness, and now it's about nothing but money. I sense that you are like me in the shared sense that lyrics are number one for us. Ryan does that part so well, and that's why he just does it for me.

  • I agree completely....On every point you made...Yeah there aren't too many videos on Robert Francis...But I saw him do a live set on a TV show and was amazed...It blew me away...Another good songwriter would be Josh Ritter...I recommend checking out "Temptation Of Adam"...Some of the best lyrics I've heard written in quite some time...And yes lyrics are number one. followed close by a "real" sound...I think you'll know what I mean by real of all people...Not overproduced shit...

  • I checked out Josh and I like it! There's a band, I'm sure you've heard of via Rolling Stone or elsewhere, that I have really come to like. Band of Horses. They are a kind of indie-darling, but their most recent album "Cease to Begin" has some country feel to it and their lead singer is incredible! I'm not usually an indie-rock kind of guy, but these guys are really talented. Critics call their singer "enhanced" by reverb, but if you listen to their live stuff it's false.

  • Indeed I've heard of them...I do enjoy them. From about the 80's on all I listen to is indie...besides a few bands...It seemed like from the late 70's on music started becoming very commercial...I mean it has always been like that but the 60's commercial music was actually good...80's on it started being all about money and very little about music...Except for "indie"...My opinion

  • I have limited experience with Indie rock. I am pretty young and barely remember 80's music. I grew up in the unfortunate era of Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer etc. It wasn't until middle school when my soccer coach, of all people, introduced me to Whiskeytown. It was over for me after that. Country music was my music after that.

  • I'm 22 man... I got into that stuff because I dug for it...And I got into Ryan Adams through a friend...But yeah it takes quite a lot of digging to find good music out there...I suggest looking up "best of lists" to be honest...That's what got me into the door on most bands...Then if I actually liked them by listening to songs of theirs I'd buy an album. But it has also failed me miserably too...CAKE...But it's very rewarding when you find something great RYAN ADAMS, BRIGHT EYES< ARCADE FIRE....

  • He even sings the "hoo" of "yahoo" in the perfect seventh! Complete command, focus, and direction of his talent! What a gift! Lovely!

  • bradrainz, he makes me believe in AMERICAN MUSIC man. He embodies all that IS American music to me. He's country, soul, blues, pop rock, bluegrass, folk, alternative, whatever, etc.

  • there is no other artist out there that compares to ryan adams extreme musical talent, iv'e never been so blown away. i am completely indebted to this man.

  • It's a crying shame that Ryan isn't a household name by now. He is pure genius. He really is a soul musician in the best country-rock 'n' roll tradition.

  • I agree he DESERVES to be, but i'm glad he's not, because i love to see my friends and families faces when they first here his music.

  • @craberlocker im kind of glad he's not, cause then he is like our secret.... enough people know who he is... you know

  • He makes me believe in Country Music once again.

  • Comment removed

  • as a mathematician, I must say .. I love his calculator watch ..

  • Agreed completely, as a Cal student.

  • refreshing to here a band that can breath.

  • to here?

  • I love Ryan Adams because he puts soul into him music. A lot of the stuff on the radio is crap, but he is different. He also has a real voice. He sounds so good live. I hope I can see him some day.

  • ryan adams is probably one of the most important lyricist(sp) of our time

  • I completely agree...

  • How do you think of BRYAN Adams when you listen to RYAN Adams? Ryan is more creative and his voice is creativee and different. (:

  • Good for you. Idiot !

  • "Oh My God, Whatever, Etc."...Best song title ever!

  • So agree!

  • Fuck Bryan Adams!!!!!!

  • Well, I was simply trying to respond without being rude to Bryan Adams. I didn't like his music then nor do I now, but it isn't his fault that those commenters are being jerks.

  • Ryan is a god! Bryan fuck!

  • Yahoo...!How funny is Ryans intro to his performance.I'm so glad I found him with his great songs last year, when I bought the LP "Gold" out of curiosity to find out what the difference the 'B' makes (Bryan A.)And,what a surprise: He's better than Bryan (my opinion). Easy tiger is an awesome album too. Ryan is one of the best songwriters since the early Jackson Browne. I'll own the rest of his released LP´s as soon as possible. I'm of good cheer that I will like the other released albums too.

  • It goes without saying that he's better than Bryan Adams. Much much better. In fact there's not much point in comparing them.

  • I too am now trapped by BA obsession. I am so so glad (not even the right word) that he is kicking Heroin and healing. If buying up all his CD's would keep him safe from drugs, I would do it. He is a gift to our music world. Anything to keep him from disappearing like all our other gifts, Jim Morrison comes to mind. Cheers for a great 2008 and better planet.

  • Zarbert, Don't forget to get all the Whiskeytown records as well.

  • Incredibly beautiful song : )

  • This is a really nice version of the song.
