  • *'ull just saying ;)

  • Nowt wrong with Ull speak You just ave to remember we don't pronounce our H's.

We live in a Ouse and go to Ospital when we're ill. Some folks ride Orses and some folks drive Undies. ;)

  • @b0j43 hahahaha i never realized that! but tis true tho!:)

  • Im glad I didn't have to sit through the lot of that.

  • Just been reading through the comments on here! I just want to say iv lived in Hull all my life, I found this clip great and it is true, okay it maybe a bit exaggerated but it's true. Only the other day I was in St Stephens and said "I ate ow much tahme we'v spent in this lahne, oh I just rhahmed, god that was hullish!" I think it's great. Wer a great city but I still love to rag the place! Hull for the win!

  • The amount of times I get away calling people a cunt down south is brill =-D "can I have a home delivery please?" "no you cunt, therve all gone" =-D

  • People from Ull can take the piss out of Ull.

But when other people do it..it's personal :P

  • @Fifalegendxxyy9 Fifalegend, they are ALL from Hull.

  • Im from Hull and moved to London, I do get digs about my accent but they love it at the same time, they dont get how im from yorkshire but they try to mimic me but do west/south accent. I say NO (noe lol!) Im from Hull, it has its own accent. The BBC received pronunciation hasnt dynamited away regional (or city) accents and it never will. Love your accent its a part of you, and those who rib you about it, well.. they are jelous they dont have the originality!

  • WOW. some of you really need to calm down! Im a hull girl myself and i think this video is great, those of you that are protesting you dont speak like this; chances are you do :) embrace it and learn to have a laugh. The Hull accent is awful but its ours and i love it :) great video lads!

  • For an American, I'm pretty good at understanding English accents--but I definitely need captions for Heathcliff and his lady friend. (Or perhaps better audio.)

  • Hahaha this made me laugh. Fact is that the Hullensians accent is the least diluted accent in Britain. Long live ower aksent !

  • ITS NOT OUR DAMN FAULT D:

  • He missed out the swallowed T's and stretched A's!

for instance, little should be li *nearly swallow own tongue* le. Meanwhile the word "the" is threatened with extinction as it turns into an 'uh' stuck on the end of the preceeding word. Only when saying "To the- " do we make the famous "T'uh" sound.

latterly OU becomes AA, so round the roundabout becomes (Other than really fun to say) raand'uh raandabaat.

  • A never noticed about the I.

Arm from 'ull. Giz a croggie? I need to borryit :P

  • I,m from Ull and we do mostly speak like this.....An american friend of mine once said I can talk like Hull people and he said two words..."FUCKKIN ELL"...which for me summed it up perfectly ...its probably the best regional accent for swearing that I ever heard....when southerners swear it sounds a bit limp wristed...but when we swear it sounds fukkin insulting....so all you cunts that dont like it can suck my syphillitic discharge....

  • i'm from Hull, or should i say 'Ull' and i'm proud to be a Hullian! xD

  • @elliepaige2010 same, im a blak 'ullian :D

  • Nahce.

  • Im with teddybearbabez... Ive lived in ull all me life and i never pronounce a H... You have an accent from anywhere you live, However, some people in hull DO NOT talk the same, from one side of ull to tother, no.. we talk different out in country side to them in centre like :)

  • Med mi lol sumtyms. Sum ov it is spot on :) YORKSHIRE 4 EVER

  • hull polska pl net sprawdź nową stronę o hull

  • I liv in hull n i dnt tlk lik tht

  • @aimeeh13 You pronounce Like,, like "lik" so you obviously do.

  • Haha, I love it! I was just searching for some examples of the Hull accent as I'm writing an essay referencing it. I'm thinking of just sending my tutor a link to this video instead :p Nicely done blokes!

Oh, and if anyone thinks this isn't an accurate representation of their Hull accent, try taping yourself and listening to it ;)

  • Aha I've only lived in Hull for 12 weeks and have already started picking up the accent a little bit. All my mates back at home (in Northants) take the mick out of me for calling it 'Ull lol.

  • crap, im from hull, and we dont pronounce our h's at all so this is a load of bull.. x

  • Hull is in Yorkshire you muppet

  • wtf thats not hull thats yorkshire

  • you fucking idiot

  • sounds more like shit acting from the TV emmedale. is this supposed to be funny? its as funny and interesting as it would be listening to hugh grant doing a 10 hour stuttering, mumbling commentry on a fucking fishing match. the well spoken upperclass southern accent is so lame and fake. i just wasted 5 mins of my life on this crap!!

  • this is definately the hull accent. I'm from hull. Its so funny casue it is true

  • But i do think people from Yorkshire in general speak quite common and use common language.

  • Thats cuz we are fairly common!

  • Im from Hull and i dont think we have a particular accent, maybe thats just because im from Hull and dont realize it.

  • i av a real strong ull accent

  • what part of hull you from? (:

  • Everyone in 'ull knows that the t in photo is silent across the east riding, 'pho'o'

  • The only thing I find offensive is that talentles bunch of "Hull blokes" They are the least funniest Hull blokes I have ever seen.

  • im from hull annd i am vary affended and we dont talk like that but we do have montone voices and im not ashamed to admit it

  • @phoenixHikari, you aren't a native of Hull, so why are you offended?

  • i don't live in hull anymore, but still snicket my vowels like this

  • I live in New Zealand now and really miss this accent ... I call Farve Errr taxis just to hear them answer the phone. Sublarme! ;-)

  • Some take offence, some take it too serious, some are so out raged they denie it. Let me tell you, the Hull accent (i am from hull by the way) is unique and as a singer its a great accent for rapping! dont hate, denie, or fear the accent! embrace it!

  • I'm from Hull and I aint fussed.

  • ha, we proper do talk like this ;D it's epic, just not as eggsadurated, (can't spell that word!) hull's immense!! :D:D:D

  • the A thing is a load of rubbish, ive lived in hull for all my life and i pronounce it I not A. =/

  • I lived In Hull, now Hedon but I pronounce my H's :]

  • love it

im from ull and is ace

    x

  • im from ull

    :)

its fuckin class and u know it ur just jelous ur not as good speakers as us ;)

    xxx

  • Hull ftw.

  • ftw?

  • for the win

  • chill. it's funny. i'm from hull. why be offended. its just making a stereotype. we always make jokes about being from hull and it being a dump, even though it isn't. we do it coz we dont care :D so the people who are bothered arnt really true hull-ers, or whatever u call us

  • @mutillidie tbh im from hull and it is a dump

  • @mutillidie people in hull is called Hullensians, it was in my hymn book back in the HGS...

  • oh tbh you should all just stfu (:

i was born and bred down south and now live in hull, not that diff tbh so keep your gobs shut and get over it

    (Y)

  • Am from ull an our accent is immence B) woop woop!

  • How anyone can find this offensive escapes me.

It's funny! Meant as a joke, poking fun at the people in Hull that do speak like this. To be fair, you might not think you sound like that (obviously, it's pretty exaggerated)but to someone who doesn't know the Hull accent well, the way you talk will stick out!

I don't find it offensive, in fact, I think I'm almost proud of it.

  • You've really got a bee in your bonnet about this haven't you sunshine?

Best give it a rest, eh?

  • *Majority*.

  • And most probably people like you. And I'm 15 not an idiot of course I know what the minority is.

  • And no Kirk Ella is the scummy part of Hull thats full of people with ASBO's and 16 year old mothers.

  • What right do we have to make this stereotype? Er, how about the fact that most of us were born and raised in Hull and still live here. I don't know which part of Hull you live in but in my experience, plenty of people talk like this. Maybe you should sue us?

  • It is an unfair stereotype on the people in Hull that can speak proper English and not what this man has made out. I myself speak absolutly nothing like this, I hate all the people that do, should there parents not have taught them any better? It just sounds silly and to be honest its really difficult to understand.

  • "I hate all the people that do"? You should get a life, sunshine. It's a dialect, you buffoon. How can you hate someone because of the way they speak? Grow up, you bloody clown.

  • You hate all the people who do? Oh dear you probably don't have many friends then, from my experience the majority do speak like this even if not quite as emphasised as it is on here...

  • its fuckin easy to understand im from hull nd talk like dat just not as bad nd every fucker can understand me its nit everyone elses fault ur just posh nd up ur sen we can telk how eva d fuck hwe wants dat guy was JOKIN look it up in the dictionary

  • are you retarded?

  • As a person who has lived in Hull since I was born 15 years ago, I find this video really offensive, I nor any of my family or friends speak this way and what right do you have to make this stereotype? Because thats what you are doing, making EVERYONE from Hull sound the same, I admit that some of the people speak like that but thats just a minority. I'm reporting this video and I think it should be removed completly from Youtube.

  • you live in kirk ella?

working class hull, has this accent, so get out of your arse and open your ears.

your only 15, you dont know what the majority is!

  • So what your saying then is that you don't speak with a regional accent?? I assume by this your going to say that all Scousers don't speak with a Scouse accent and all from Birmingham don't speak with a brummy accent and all from London don't speak with a Cockney accent?? Your really trying to convince yourself you have no regional dialect when in fact you should be proud of it you muppet its who and what you are.

  • Also stereotyping would be to say that all lasses from Hull are pushing prams aged 15 and all lads are violent lager louts(none of which I think myself btw) you can't say accenting your accent is stereotyping its there and its part of you. You sound ashamed of your dialect when you should infact embrace it, Grow up and get a life you dick

  • "Motherfucker"? And you're lecturing US on how people in Hull speak! Are you from Hessle or The Bronx? If you could have been bothered to read the earlier posts you would know that we are all from Hull and most of us speak with traditional 'Ull accents.

Be careful with any threats you make young feller, even online. I suggest that you get yourself some anger management counselling.

  • I Find This Most Offencive! I Know We Don't Pronounce 'H' But This Video Has Just Completely Taken The Piss! Nobody From Hull Speaks Like Demonstrated In This Video, STANDARD ENGLISH! If I Ever Saw That Little Bald Stuck Up Motherfucker I'd Pull His Tougue Out Of His Mouth And Stab It With a Rusty Screwdriver!

  • The letter "o" in Standard English IS a dipthong. Do Hull people pronounce the "o" with an umlaut? "Phone call" supposedly becomes "fern curl"? Some people might but they are in the minority; you only have to listen to the bloke in drag who proves my point, pronouncing the "o" as a monopthong, without the umlaut, as most people do. The other bloke follows the script and pronounces it (somewhat forced I would say) as the presenter wishes. At least they've tried to do it properly - and humorously!

  • "The bloke in drag"! How dare you? Cynthia would be very upset to hear that.

  • Ah Cynthia! I ant seen her since they closed Rayner's bacl room! The whiff of Pernod brings it all flooding back!

  • Haha Im Proud To Be From Sutton Park ! But Now I Live In Bev Hahahah ! x

  • Makes me proud to be from Hessle road.

  • im hull born an bred and dont no anyone who talks like that, harr street whats all that about

  • Hull is a great place to live !

    I live in Hedon.

  • Don't you mean 'eddon and 'ezzle

  • Eh dont forget hessle. Thats nice place to live

  • lol im from hull livin in spain but movin bk ta hull on satday :D cant wait to see all the rain lol

  • I went to hull once, i saw a fat man eating chips in the street. Can you believe that?

  • Well, I for one don't believe you. I've never seen any fat people here and I can honestly say that I've never seen anyone eating chips in Hull.

    You're talking absolute nonsense.

  • I don't believe you. I've lived in and around Hull for much of my life and I can't ever recall seeing a fat person. And the only person I ever saw eating chips here was a mate of mine, visiting from Surbiton.

  • he was probably related to me....my bad

  • firstly, who are these people on this video? their accents sound more lancashire than east yorkshire or hull!. Why pick on us? how about the brummy or dopey west country accent for a change. The more they piss me off the more Hully i get, just to annoy them. anyone care to reply?

  • Yes - I'll reply, seeing as I'm one of 'em. The Hull Blokes are a local group made up of local, largely working-class blokes. The people on the video are all from Hull. Granted, Andy - the guy with the microphone at the start - doesn't have much of a Hull accent, but so what? The other guy who presents it is originally from Hull, left as a lad to live in Dundee (hence his Scottish accent) but has been back here for years. The two actors are both Hull born and bred.

    OK?

  • i ike living in hull :D

  • BHE4LYF

  • dibbleandemily1 have u ever heared of hymers its like 1 of the best skools in britain and fair enough theres sum dodgey places but hull is an amazing place 2 live there is so much 2 do and see they only show bad parts of hull in them worst city things but i think hull is better than any other city and i love the place and if u hate it so much all u other ppl why watch this ?? dicks hull is the best place 2 live ever and if u dont like it dont cum x
  • I like living in Hull but you can`t really compare a private school where those with money pay thousands to educate their children! A better example would be wolfreton, Mally or St Marys!

  • haha i go 2 wolfreton

but ma gf goes 2 hymers lolz

so thats why i used it :P

  • You go to Wolfreton? Don't they have English teachers there any more?!!

  • Pickering has got to be the worst, thank God I didn't go there.

  • OUTSIDER,HAHAHAH , god at least outsiders dont have the worst schools, worst car crime, it was voted the worst place to live, the place is a DUMP, do your self a favour and go down south for a holiday ,see how the other half live..mind you ,you would miss all the shit weather you get, the smell of fish, and all the other crap..

  • Well considering that we're supposed to have the worst schools up here in Hull you're making a pretty good fist of writing like a fucking moron yourself. Never heard of apostrophes? Full stops?

Wherever you are, do our great city a favour and stay there; if you're actually in Hull, do us an even bigger favour and fuck off soon.

  • @HullBloke1313 It's a video-sharing site, Not a grammar bee. You come across far less educated with your foul mouthed rant than the guy with bad grammar. Profanity is the language of the uneducated. Kids use this site. Is there any need for language like that?

  • @justinwiggy

Profanity isn't the language of the uneducated. I sugges t you fuck off, too.

  • @WatTyler13 Thanks for helping me prove my point Tyler

  • @justinwiggy

    You didn't.

I use profanities, yet I'm very well educated, so I stand by the assertion that you should fuck off.

  • @WatTyler13 No I didn't...You did it for me! Thanks again cabbage :o)

  • Comment removed

  • @justinwiggy

    Great answer. No, really.

You're nowhere near as smart or superior as you think,.

    So fuck off.

  • @WatTyler13 You have yet again proved me right that profanity is the language of the uneducated. Would you like being sworn at by a stranger in the street? Do you cuss in front of your wife/partner/kids? Does it make you feel a bigger person when you swear? If you do, I pity you.

  • Comment removed

  • @justinwiggy

Moreover, only some kind of fool compares an exchange with strangers in cyberspace to an exchange in the street.

Does it make us feel "bigger"? Probably not, but it certainly assuages some kind of internal tension - all part of the human condition. And yes, I "cuss" in front of my partner, and she does, too.

"Cuss". Are you a religious nut or something?

    Now fuck off.

  • @WatTyler13 Why so aggressive? you started the expletive exchanges to me you cabbage. What's the word cuss got to do with religion? I'm an atheist with values. You have internal tensions? You clearly have anger issues! Does your partner swear when you beat her for burning your tea you redneck cracker? You need help Mr fruitcake tension head.

  • @justinwiggy

You're the one who came on here lecturing me over my choice of vocabulary, calling me uneducated, based on the fact that I "cuss". That's why I'm being aggressive towards you. It's part of the human condition. As is using profanities; if you don't like it, ignore it.

By fucking off, you holier-than-thou cunt.

  • @WatTyler13 You are delusional. You started this angry tirade! I hate it when I have to explain to my kids why idiots have used expletives on the sites the frequent. I'm far from holy. Please stop the multiple messages to my inbox. I will only reply to the messages you post on here, not the private ones. You are acting like a mentalist . Calm down

  • @justinwiggy

I may have started the "angry tirade", but you provoked it by taking issue with my use of profanities. This is the internet - people swear here. If you have concerns over your kids being exposed to it, monitor them more closely, like I do mine.

And I've sent no messages to your inbox. As far as I'm aware I have only posted on here; if they've gone to your inbox too then that's a technical error, rather than my intention.

  • @WatTyler13 You commented without swearing! I never made issue of your personal use of profanities. You took it upon yourself to tell me to **** off.

So you monitor every page your kids look at before they do. I admire you for that as it must be really time consuming. Wouldn't it be nicer if people like you didn't swear on sites like this and your kids could use the web without you sitting over them. I can understand swearing has a place, but it isn't where children can see/hear it.

  • Just out of interest, where did you visit in Hull to give you such a bad opinion?? I'm originally from Hull and have moved down south about 2 years ago, the quality of living isn't really different. I will say, the comments you made lastly sound like the usual stereotypes that get batted around..

  • LMAO im from Hull...not sure wt 2 fink of it tho :P

But the 'H' part is rite :P x

  • i live in hull !! YAY

  • wtf! im from Hull and i dont talk like that :/

    gay as!

  • mmmm LewBrwn me think you protesteth too much.

  • I bet you know plenty of people who do though.....

  • Ive lived in hull all my life (nearly 22 years) and my mates from the outside world find my accent hilarious, the funniest thing being that they think i sound like a scouser! Anyone from hull, say 1999 and you'll understand why people think our accent is so funny

  • I am from Hull lived on Longhill for 22 years

I now live in Liverpool and miss Hull soooo much. I often pop to the fern box to make a fern curl to me relatives. There are no decent bread cakes in Liverpool just buns and barms. Also me kids don't eat goodies they eat sweets yawn. The Hull accent should be made compulsary for all. Long live Ull.

  • Who cares people are free to do as they wish let them.

  • nothing beats the cockney

  • yep i agree there taking the piss out of us report them its a disgrace

  • Im a Hullian myself, and im finding it a perfect way to help my friends understand me. Well played the Hull Blokes!

  • Whoever I was replying to here seems to have been removed. Rightly so. Apologies if anyone got the wrong end of the stick.

  • I know that paul dude! Lol! He Works at my school. =D

  • i'm from hull lolz OUR ACSENT IS GAYY!!!!!!!!! lolz but it's better than londons and all that.. so i'm not botherd WERE CHAV CITY HAHA! but liverpool acsents are tha best!! anywayyy.. we do talk like that haha.. :(

  • Every town has an accent, Id rather have a hull accent than a whining London one, and they cant say Cunt and wanker as good too ha ha..

  • i'm from hull, but my mums from london. she beat the local accent out of me at a young age.

    5 stars!

  • Im from Hull..i was born in Rugby street and lived on Hessle road for 27 years but i live in Spain.

Watching this brought back memories of Hull when it was still Hull, and not the place i´ve seen on other videos here, full of immigrants & problems.

Alright, bransholme, orchard park, gypsyville and preston road where never gonna win "ideal council estate of the u.k" but you could walk from "cheese" to Hessle road pissed on a friday night without half of the former Yugoslavia waiting to mug you.

  • So you have lived in another country for 27 years and yet feel justified in passing negative comments about 'immigrants' in the UK. Some people have no sense of irony at all!

  • read it again before posting comments that prove your dyslexia.....i said i lived in HULL for 27 years...all my family still do and my daughter does..and so for that YES i do feel qualified to speak in a negative manner..its all a shame.

But i´d never want to come from any other city in the U.K.

Even though i havnt lived there for 10 years now im still a hull lad.

  • Gimme Hull over Spain anyday. It's too bloody hot and you can't move there for ex-pat Brits moaning about how crap it is back here in Blighty.

    You're welcome to it mate!

  • It's funny how no one ever complains about people pronouncing further as Father, Hull as hall, and Berkshire as Barkshire and London as Landon. I'm sorry to break it to those people but from the outside all of those mispronunciations sound equally bad. Maybe you should get over yourselves.

  • I so agree, I was in Lincoln and all these Southerners (yes in the midlands) were taking the mick. I took off their accents and they didn't see the joke. One word = hypocrite.

  • I don't think there's any question that people mispronounce things badly all over the country. It just happens that we are all Hullites, so I'd say we are best qualified to take the piss out of our own (Hull) accents, don't you agree?

  • It's funny how no one ever complains about people pronouncing further as Father, Hull as hall, and Berkshire as Barkshire and London as Landon. I'm sorry to break it to those people but from the outside all of those mispronunciations sound equally bad. Maybe you should get over yourselves.

  • i live in hull and ive only just relised i speak like tht but they make it sound rubbish....and i dont get why people laughed when they said bar..?

  • Phwoar gerra loada the well fit scottish brilliant actor bloke, Oscar material!

  • bbbooooooooooorrrrrrrriiiiiinnnnngggggg

  • Hull is a dump, and Channel 4 got it spot on tonight, including the optimistic comments about massive investment. Of course the council will trot out some excuses...

  • You live in Hull then? If not, then you're not best placed to pass comment. If you do, then maybe you should move away and moan about somewhere else!

  • eyah if u dnt cum frm hull den ow can u say shit about it....its not a dump actually so get it rite u stuck up fukin divvi... go on hullblokes!!!

  • Oh yeah Hull is so funny, because every other accent in Britain is less funny! Yeah right. The Londoners are the funniest of all. They barely speak English!

  • As born and bred Hullites, I think we're probably the only ones entitled to do that sketch. Londoners aren't smart enough to take the piss out of their own accents.

  • cmon hull. ulderness rode!

  • well done lads arm from 'ull its the ony place ar no where you can use the c word in evryday toke n get away wi it,ony in ull cunt do it eny where else

  • Yer right - yer cunt!

  • i live in ull tis not bad apart from the flood what we had mhm bit crap

  • Very well done! I was born and raised in Hull so it's heartwarming to hear my original accent online.

  • sure, hulls a shit hole

but its OUR shit hole LOL :)

  • I was born down Tyne street, hessle road; In Hull 1959 and found your interpretation of the Hull accent very good!

Thank you for not adding 'thee thy and tho' as some people do when writing plays about Hull folk... No names "John Godber"(Thunder Road)... lol

  • Im Hull born and bred yet people say to me you don't sound like a hullie.I live on one of the council estates yet people say to me you don't sound like you're from there. What am i meant to sound like eh???

  • At the risk of sounding corny, it really doesn't matter what you sound like or where you come from, Mandapaulxx. It's much more important to be a good person, regardless. Which I'm sure you are ;)

  • wea re 'ull, we are 'ull, we are 'ull!!

  • Indeed we are - keep flying the flags, fellow Hullites!

  • omg y is every 1 proud 2 b frm hull im frm hull n its soo annoyin cos my auntie frm canada couldnt even understand me :s

  • If you speak as badly as you write, it's little wonder she can't understand you!!

  • im writing in text language?

  • Why? This is the internet, not a mobile phone. Write properly.

  • Give us a croggy down ten foot!!

  • Give us a croggy down ten foot!! brilliant not a lot understand that. you can borrow my bike instead.

  • No thanks I'll walk. We still pronounce "the" usually though instead of missing it out.

  • to EastHull1 asking if id like a croggy.

  • Sometimes we say "the" in a sentence and sometimes we dont! My fave`s got to be banes(bairns) and twagging! The older generations are better, My gran must have the strongest Hull accent ever. The Hull accent`s getting a bit diluted now though with some of the banes trying to talk like they`re in the bronx or trying to be Phil Mitchell!

  • ahhhh i love my hull accent, i mean i type standard english cause i find it easier to understand, but i love the old hull accent xD don't be makin fun of hull you get your head split :)
