A magnificent and moving tribute. I saw Gary play hundreds of games in Mtl. No one played harder, and he did so at the hardest position. He was quick like a cat around the plate and even raced down the line on grounders to back up firstbase, and did so on cement like turf. He caught 150 GAMES PER YEAR several times in Montreal - incredible given how hard and hurt he played for us. I`m convinced his career was shortened due to the supreme extra effort he gave to Mtl. Thanks Gary, RIP.
@donlittle7 It's absolutely true. He'd never shy away from a collision at the plate that he knew was inevitable and sometimes with guys the size of Dave Parker which you could pretty much describe as a fridge coming down your way from a flight of stairs. As a kid/young teen back then, I hadn't reach the age of fully understanding the kind of sacrifice it meant for a ballplayer to do these kinds of things. He'd never return to the dugout with the tank half full.
That was baseball, Gary was a great baseball player and person. The pictures of him guarding home plate and sliding into bases are legendary. We will never forget you Gary!
:) R.I.P Gary et thank you for the magic moments ! :) And Thank you for this nice recap video ! :0
@lebiz58 Merci lebiz.
Thank you for everything Kid !
Salut Mr. Carter! I'll never forget your great smile. Montreal should rename the Olympic stadium the "Gary-Carter Stadium". I'll never forget "The Kid". God bless you and your family...
If Gary's loss is devastating for us baseball fans today, I can't begin to imagine what it's like for Gary's family right now and my thoughts and prayers are dedicated to them.
We will cheer as you walk off the field and will forever wait to see you again in spring training next season.
R.I.P

If Ernie Banks was Mr Cub, then Gary Carter was Mr Expo.

So sad. He was a Giant for a brief time and really endured himself with his all out style of play. Heaven just got a great catcher.
