You have a great start. At least you have ammo and mags. Is there really ever enough? I have been prepping for over 20 years and still working on getting better supplied in some areas. I like to have a minimum of 1000 rnds for each weapon. That is just my personal pref. Mags - I like to have a min. of 10 per gun that use mags. I still need some Glock mags and 1911 mags. Keep up the good work and kepp prepping!
BURY IT! You can't carry all your ammo/supplies with you IF your forced to leave your home. But you can store food water and ammo in cashe's that you bury out in the woods fairly close to your home or bug out destination. Do what you can afford and keep it simple. #1 cashe should have a tent/blankets for your family if you don't have a place you can go. Its your START UP cashe. Common sense says what you store in the others. Make one a year like on your birthday! Maybe the best gifts ever!
the way I do it is I try to buy a box a day. I think that if you can buy McDonalds today, you can buy a box of ammo. A box a day keeps zombies away. I just buy a box of any caliber I own.
I never have enough ammo with the talk of new taxes Im buying as much as I can at lower price. Just store in nice dry spot and your golden. You have a nice start!
In my opinion pick a main defense weapon & buy cheap ammo to practice with & at least 1000 rounds of good ammo to stockpile. Pistols are a great secondary weapon but your AR is gonna be the real show stopper if things get ugly. ***** great vid
dude you can use ammo to trade with for like food and clothes. i have 100 rounds of remington 223 55gr. and will be getting another 100 over the next couple months. i have like 150 shotgun shells and like 800 rounds for 22. oh and 200 rounds of winchester 45 and a small box of diffrent stuff, i was thinking i might need 1 bullet for everyone in my town since they could all be potential threats lol.
i think the average is that you should have at least 10 mags and 2000 rounds for each weapon you own... it takes time to acquire but you can do it good luck o yeah and prob somewhere around 25000 rounds of 22
if you've got an AR15, you should be focused WAY more on .223 (I prefer 5.56 NATO) than on your .40S&W. I carry a Glock 22, so I can relate to you as far as the need for .40 cal pistol rounds, but your SHTF stockpile should be focused on 5.56/.223, and .22LR. you should also have a good 12 gauge with a few hundred rounds of buckshot.
not trying to be a criticizing asshole, just trying to help. rock on, brother.
I think your 40s&w ammo is sufficient, depending also on how many mags you have for it. If you were to have 4 or 5 mags that would be good. since it doesnt have the capacity capabilities of a 9mm you may feel the need to carry more.
on your 22lr what would you use it for, hunting small game? if so you might want some hp like you said, if the varmints are on the bigger side of small game. And do not forget that after shooting 22lr in your ar15 to shoot a few 556 so as to clean your gas tube.
Really depends on if your mobile or stationary. This is the toughest part of planning for when the SHTF. I have lots of ammo but I know that as soon as I fire the 1st shot I've drawn attention to myself. Depending on who comes will depending on how long I will last regardless of ammo count. If I go mobile I can only carry so much. Average Marine only carry's about 1500 rounds in a combat zone.
I'm kinda on the fence with socking up on a big amount of ammo,if you got all that ammo, you still can get shot and die, then all that ammo is going to be grabbed.
Plus when some SHTF thing comes, incounters are going to be within 5 yards
honestly in a WROL situation (provided its not global or something) you wouldnt use all that much ammo if any. just having a gun in MOST situations would be enough to deter looters and you wouldnt even need to fire a shot.
still its good (and fun) to stock up on ammo. theres no better feeling of accomplishment than when you look at your ammo shelf and you have more than your local gun store. xD
well as far as your 40 rounds that should suffice. i would suggest between 2000min-4000 rnds of 223. and between 5000-10,000 rounds of 22lr. that is what you feed you and your family with in case of social breakdown. as far as the 243 that is a tough one, what i did was i got 400 rounds and enough components to reload 700 rounds more. i hope this helps
@911feltner911 seriously 2000-4000 rounds? that is between 1000-2000 dollars in ammo at current prices. enough for 2 combat load outs would be my recommendation. soliders carry 270/330 rounds 8/10 loaded mags. so tops 1000rds for primary and 60 rds for the secondary (6 15rnd mags) so 120 total. in a combat situtation if your gettin into shit your not gunna have time to load mags and your not gunna be able to carry stuff. if your holdin a position thats different.
@awsomeshot but the if you have a onslaught of looters/raiders the more bodies you pile up then ppl will figure out you got shit and you become a big score target so its a tough balancing act.
@awsomeshot well that kind of stock pile takes time to get. i was talking about what to have in your home, if your bugging out obviously that is too much to take with. i was talking about what to have in your home not bugging out. as far as what to carry in a combat load you are right on the money and i would agree.
@911feltner911 shtf wrol zombies something like that also i forgot to say i have a 20 guage tht i have 150 rounds for im probly nt going to buy anny more 20 guage ammo tho because i would mainly use 12
@WildLifeGuy308 i have a son who is 13. i am going to give you some sound advice. get enough ammo to go hunting and target shooting. the odds that a wrol orshtf scenerio ever happening is like 0. people have been talking about this since this country has started and it hasn't happened. what i would do is concentrate on your schooling and get your education. that is the most important thing in this economy. i can understand being prepared just in case. but the odds are its not going to happen
@WildLifeGuy308 now that being said it is possible that we could face a collapse. but the gov is greedy they are not going to let that happen. there is alot of info in the comments on the page for how much to have to feed your family. at your age honestly i would enjoy your childhood while you can bro. my son is worried about these things too. but i make sure that he concentrates on his education. if you want to prepare for a broken economy get a really good degree
@WildLifeGuy308 then you are preparing for your future then when you are out of college if you still feal that the end of our society is near buy all the ammo you can get your hands on. at that time you will have learned alot about the fear mongering that goes on in youtube. most of these people who talk of the zombiepocolypse are gamers who live in fantasy. like these people say that 22lr works great against zombies. i suggest look up the FBI ballistics reports on that.
@911feltner911 I'm pretty sure 80% of the people who prepare for a 'zombie apocalypse' are kidding, as that sounds stupid, and it's really a preparation for a collapse of society.
@WildLifeGuy308 all this being said if you still want to prep for whatever reason learn all you can about ballistics of the weapons you have. figure out how many birds, squirrels, deer, etc you need to eat each day in survival. then count three bullets for every animal then take that and multiply that for 365 days a year the multiply that by how many years all that collapse will last. then what you will be left with is a conclusion that no one knows how much ammo to have= all you can get
@Ryan56765 not really, just wanted to know if you was a rebel like me, because i'm geting me either a dmps or a doublestarr ar-15 with my next school check lol
ammo tax shit ammo is already being inflated just because of the shortage already making it a hard time to keep ammo stocked up my pistol and shotgun ammo cost way to damn come on .25 ammo is 20 bucks a box i mean wtf and any decent shotgun ammo is a dollar a round so yeah do the math its getting crazy

Well somebody is holding onto the ammo then because there is not enough to fill the shelves anymore, dealers have about a 6 month backorder on all their order's.
no i dont reload, yes i got a 100 pack of the umc 180 gr fmj however they are not leadless, i picked up today 3 20 rounds packs of the federal 135 grain hydra shock JHP, and also i got 2 25 round boxes of the 180 grain remington golden saber, and also 1 box of the ss197sr for my fn 5.7 pistol..god i love firearms
just cleaner for the chamber in the long run..i clean my glock if i shoot 150 rounds or 20, i just like those flat nose lead 180 gr rounds, also i just put the leadless umc 180 gr , and the regular umc 180 gr on digital scale and the leadless weights tenth of a gram more
I think you are all set with the.40 ammo and Glock mags. That is exactly what I have for my G27 except I have 2 G22 mags 2 G27 mags and a 31 round after market mag. That Winchester target ammo is plenty lethal. The jacket usually seperates and the lead expands to about .55 cal.
I only have one box of personal, its winchester supreme elites, i need to get more but they are rather expensive as we all know, im thinking of buying about 10 boxes of the ranger T's, what do u use?
yeah i'm 21 too yes im a big gun fan. but sadly i don't have money to buy a gun 'cause guns are very very vey expensive here in my country. and ammo oh.... lets say you don't want to know
For the 40 I have the ranger T's for my glock 23. And speer gold dot for my Glock 27, but I orderd federal HST's. Thats what im going to use for my 27 when I get them!
You have a great start. At least you have ammo and mags. Is there really ever enough? I have been prepping for over 20 years and still working on getting better supplied in some areas. The discussion of "how much is too much" has been going on forever and I think I just the other day found the answer.
You may have too much ammo if there is no place left to sit or lay down in your own home.
Now of course that is just a joke.
It just depends of how much you are going to shoot at the range and how much you feel comfortable with having on hand and nothing else.

Do you reload? I shoot alot and that crap is expensive, and do you ever shoot the 100 round value pack Winchester rounds?

Nice ammo video but, with the price of ammunition a stockpile of 22lr ammo is the way to go, GOT MINE !!!!

sweet!, ill look into getting more of that too! what gun u use to shoot all those .22's?
Ryan56765 2 years ago
I think you are all set with the.40 ammo and Glock mags. That is exactly what I have for my G27 except I have 2 G22 mags 2 G27 mags and a 31 round after market mag. That Winchester target ammo is plenty lethal. The jacket usually seperates and the lead expands to about .55 cal.

What are you using for personal defense you have alot of target ammo! And if you love guns you will never have enough that's the sad part.
