@montanatorice1985 yea, it still would have been tipped. the fact that the patriots even let it come down to the final drive is sad. you shouldnt have even been in the superbowl, baltimore should have...
@AroundSun You Toutuber are litteraly theb WORST NFL iv'e ever seen. Your logic: Brady lost a Superbowl, HE SUCKS! No he is right up their with Montana, Brees, Elway, P. Manning. Shut up and understand football.
don't get caught up in the hype of the guy. He was far from perfect. But Brady belongs in his league because he posesses the kind of mistique that Montana had, They're just both great QB's in their own right. Let's stop the arguing because it takes out the pleasure in appreciating watching these both legendary Q,B, ever to play the position.
The 49ers in the 80s would still dominate every team right now. God damn. Giants beat us the same way they beat us in '90 witch ruined our 3-peat. Giants force a fumble and recover it.
He and all the 49er signed a football for me. I lived right next door to their training camp . This was the year they won super bowl.. I gave the football to a lady who was dying of cancer, long time tail gate fan of 49ers and now her grandson is the owner.Nice guys. Hack Saw was the guy who got them to sign..
Ask ANYONE... Your down by 4 in the 4th quarter 2 mins left you NEED a touchdown who's your QB? EVERYONE will say Montana... Nuff said. That's how you know greatness!!
Im sorry everyone But You cant compare peyton manning to joe montana. Joe montana is just to good for peyton as a kid you knew if he threw that ball even near jerry he would somehow catch it. And joe montana went up against another great QB dan marino in the superbowl and won. superbowl record Joe 4-0 Peyton 1-1 Its simple math.
Imagine Joe playing for the Chicago Bears instead of wasting his career with the 49ers. What a fucking waste, he would have been considered a living God, instead of a nice boy that plays foodball.
@blackstroke1 I'd hardly call winning 4 Super Bowls and being revered as perhaps the greatest QB of all time "a fucking waste." Would have the same legacy if he played for Da Bears in the 80s? Maybe, but I don't know. Put a guy in different circumstances, and you change the entire flow of his career.
@mosset4 actually there is plenty to debate and question as there have been many great quarterbacks in the history of the NFL and I don't believe Montana is the best.
If 4-0 in the Super Bowl, 3 Super Bowl MVPs, 11-0 TD-Int ratio isn't enough to say Montana is the greatest ever, can we say Montana's Niners is the greatest team of all time?
I met the man once on a flight to San Francisco; I was seated next to him. Still had that gleam in his eye after all those years, and he seemed like a real nice guy. He signed my cocktail napkin, which I have it framed in my bedroom. I wish I had had the guts to pick his brain, because I'll never know what he was doing in Cincinnati.
@ZachWaks. I sat next to Bill Walsh and his daughter on a flight from SFO to John Wayne. I thanked him for bringing a winner to the City. We talked about Seifert going to the Panthers and our families . He was visiting his mother who resided, I think, in Huntington Beach.
As much as I like Marino...I have 2 say Joe is the best..he doesn't have Marino stats or his arm but he had superior touch nd accuracy, provided he played with way better teams than Marino...but the man never folded in big games..also he has solid career stats with those 4 rings
@TheMrjeepman I'm getting tired of the "If a QB didn't win a superbowl he can't be the greatest" Argument. It is Complete BS. A Quarterbacks Job is to Hit His recievers with the Ball. And Be the Field General of the field, Be the greatest at reading the Defense. Who has done the best Job of Hitting his receivers with the Ball. What the defense, Special teams, Kickers, the Game is pretty much all Up to them.
@lordvoldemort578 What if the General fucks up and has two blunders? Like those two interceptions in the Super Bowl. QB's should be judged on winning Super Bowls because it is the highest point of the mountain in football. Joe knew what he had to do and elevated himself in the playoffs. The west coast system was also based on quick precise reads and throws, which Joe was a master at. In a different offense he could have put up amazing numbers, but in the West coast he won.
@lordvoldemort578 I would also like to add I don't think you should judge a QB solely on Super Bowl wins. I think Marino is better than Bradshaw, who also has 4. I judge a qb by regular season stats (in the context of the time they played in), playoff stats, leadership ability, ability to elevate their team, and super bowl wins. Taking all these into consideration, I have no choice but to put Joe Cool at number one. Its all opinions, though.
@TheDeathsRequiem I agree with you. Super Bowl is a team achievement so to say that a Quarterback can't be in the argument like Dan Marino, some people say that, not saying you did. But it aggravates me because If You Put Marino On The 49ERS Squad who knows? And What if Joe Cool went to the Browns or Panthers of something I am very Interested in hearing your top 10 or top 5 then we can talk about it.
@lordvoldemort578 I feel like EVERYTHING is a team achievement in in football, because its the ultimate team sport. Sam Bradford would have 4000 yds passing if his receivers didn't drop the ball. I don't think Marino would have been as successful on the 49ers team. The reason they won most Super Bowl is because of Joe's 11 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. The 49ers very well could have lost if Marino had been on the team. MY top 5 wouldn't include Marino, I would probably put him at 6.
@TheDeathsRequiem Exactly, But I'm Talking about the regular season of what took them to the super bowl in the first place? Montana stats say he wasn't the best during the regular season, there were a lot of supporting facts that elevated him. And I'm not talking from him because his 11 to 0 touchdown/Int ratio speaks for itself. He can win. But It is a team achievement Just like the Heisman trophy is a Team Achievement Marino and Montana share Number 1 and if not 1 and 2 respectively
@lordvoldemort578 Like I said, the system Montana played in was centered around passing, but it was all about the short precise passes. Joe's stats were never going to be as good as Marino's, that's for sure. I would put my top 5 as
@TheDeathsRequiem The Speed is faster today and the complexity is more Intense today. Montana's system was about tricky right? 7 yard gains, 12 yard gains, stuff like that. Peyton Manning Has thrown for 4000 Yards Almost every season if we are talking about stats, but Playoffs? He chokes a little bit. Plus I agree with your list. Brady's game against the Bills this past Sunday wasn't too good he threw as much Ints in a game as he did all last year but fuck it, he had 379 pass attempts without
@TheDeathsRequiem Exactly, But I'm Talking about the regular season of what took them to the super bowl in the first place? Montana stats say he wasn't the best during the regular season, there were a lot of supporting facts that elevated him. And I'm not talking from him because his 11 to 0 touchdown/Int ratio speaks for itself. He can win. But It is a team achievement Just like the Heisman trophy is a Team Achievement Marino and Montana share Number 1 and if not 1 and 2 respectively
@lordvoldemort578 montana made his supporting cast better,he proved when he was in Kansas City, people say that he had Jerry Rice but they forget that he won even without him...Montana is obviusly number one...
@BuTeRs23 They would suck. No offense to them They had great careers, But Back in the 80's and 70's the speed and Complexity was not quite what it is today, Montana is The best QB to play, but In today's game the shit they did Back then wouldn't work. Montana would get picked a lot Certain Offenses today require arm strength he didn't have. Reads are more complex today.
@lordvoldemort578 : They would suck? Well, if Joe and Jerry had grown up in the "steriods in the meat and milk" era they would have been a little bigger, stronger and faster just like they are today. You can't coach "cool under pressure" and reading defenses. Montana would go through all of his reads before he set up in a seven step drop. Not even Payton Manning can do that. Payton would trip over his feet doing a seven step drop. Probably why he stays in the shotgun alot of the time.
@Devildog0166 When Has Peyton Manning tripped? He ain't Like his brother. Sacking Himself...Seven step drops are no longer needed because todays NFL is so much faster. Peyton Reads Defense like a Super Human computer. He is In the Top conversation. I'm tired of the "quarterback superbowls" argument. Because If You can Put Peyton on the 49ers of that day and he would have 6 rings, You can't say the same For Joe Montana sorry..
@lordvoldemort578 : A Bill Walsh 7 step drop is like a 5. If you ever played the game you would know that. Manning is in the gun most of the time or isn't under the center until they snap it to him. Both Mannings aren't like dad was in the mobility. And he wouldn't of had 6 rings with SF. Look at all the stats he has and is 1-1 in the SB. By the way, Joe didn't have to run the play clock down to 3 on every play either. Payton is good but if he was a "Super Human CPU" he would win every year.
@Devildog0166 "If you ever played the game you would know that." So you played when? You act Like QB is a one man Job. Did you know that quarterback rating gets effected if a reciever drops a perfect pass? or when a running back fumbles it's peyton's fault right? Joe Never passed for 4,000 with Rice and so many others.
@lordvoldemort578: Go play "Fantasy Football" or whatever you team trainers do for kicks. I'm not going to sit here and argue with someone that thinks 4000 yards is a measuring stick. Next you will be telling me that Emmitt Smith was a better back then Jim Brown or Barry Sanders because he had more yards. Get in Mannings face he is DONE! He can't get away from pressure. Joe wasn't the fastest but he made plays. Brady or Manning are done with pressure in their faces. You must be in your 20's!
@Devildog0166 ??? Don't Play Fantasy football sorry. Now Your going to Say Brady and Manning? Who each set records Almost every year they Play. You Put Steve Young In After Montana got hurt and It was all good, No problems there. You can't say the same for the Pats or Colts, If they lose either Player both of their teams become below average. FACT. But according to you Emmit smith would be the best because he has more rings or some dumb shit Like that..
@lordvoldemort578 Get a job and get off your moms cpu. You don't know shit about football and you never will because the best part of you was left on the sheets! Your comments don't make any sense because you have never played a snap, a inning or a minute in any game in your life. PS3, X-box360 and Wii don't count. Get a life and get a job!
@Devildog0166 Do You Blow your father with that mouth of yours?...Jeez I'm hearing about football from some fat old dude who has never played anything beyond Pee Wee Ball, where he use to hold every ones Jock strap and Lick it clean after he did every Bodies Homework...I'm Playin High School Ball Right Now Shit Peice.. We are 5-0 and You are A Six Pack of Logger and 3 cheese burgers. I don't Play fuck ass Xbox 360 it's for Kids who don't have practice until 6:30 plus film study and weights.
@lordvoldemort578 Well when you play two years division one and then spend twenty-one years as a United States Marine, come look me up! News flash, high school football is a joke compared to college. College football is a joke compared to being a Marine.I have taken scarier shits than all of the fear you, your dad and your whole 5-0 high school team combined would give me. You don't know shit. 5-0 in high school, wow! I didn't lose one game my Jr.&Sr. year. We did suck in college though!
@Devildog0166 D-1 huh? You wouldn't mind telling me your name and the years You played??? It's The first of october smart ass. Of Course I'm only 5-0 so far. Class 6A district 6 Toughest Class for Football You also wouldn't Mind telling me what position you played? We have to watch an Hour of film before school, then weights than Practice until 6:30.
@lordvoldemort578 Ya that is much tougher than walking the streets of some shit town in Iraq or Afghanistan getting your ass shot at. SJSU in 84,85, strong safety. I work out two hours everyday still. You are such a dip shit. High School football is a joke! If that is the hardest thing you have done in your life you are a little pussy. You are one of those pukes that talk about your HS days at 20 yr. reunions. Don't post me any more. I don't have time to baby-sit your dumb ass
@Devildog0166 I'm a Dipshit? You ever been confused for another motherfucker and have 20 Motherfuckers Jump you with Knives and Bats? Didn't think so...Since when the fuck did we start talking about The Army? Are you wanna of those Idiots Babbling on about "Well Ive had my ass whooped more than you" I thought we were talking about football. I doubt you were In Irag getting shot at. I bet you were the dude behind the desk using your "marine" title to lie to People. You make me sick. SJSU? LOL.
Clutch performances, big stats, comebacks and winning a superbowl MVP makes a quarterback regarded as hero. Consistent winning, being the reason a team wins multiple championships at all, without losing, makes you a great one.
Well put together video showing the best quarterback who ever played. I have seen them all. Unitas and Brady rank way up there, but Montana is on another level by himself.
Montana was the single reason the 49ers won four super bowls. Then he took a marginal Chief's team to an AFC Championship game. I probably saw more than 90% of all the NFL games Montana ever played in. He was best.
Coach John Madden still regards Montana as the best quarterback he ever saw as well.
Oh yeah and btw, yes I am a 49ers fan and so of course I think Montana is the greatest ever and my opinion is definitely biased heavily in favor of Montana. That being said though, I give all the credit in the world to Elway and Marino also. Marino put up monster numbers with a bunch of JV guys around him. That deserves respect. Elway is one of the all-time greats too. But I do not see how you can argue with Montana's accuracy and decision making which are what make a QB great.
I'm not going to say that everyone on here is "hating". You are all entitled to your opinion. And yeah, he had a phenomenal team built around him. But I give him all the credit in the world. Not including "The Catch", look at his accuracy. It's insane! He hits his receiver in stride every single time! That and his clutch performances are what make him great. A "system" doesn't make you an accurate passer. You either are or you aren't. And Montana was the most accurate passers of all-time.
@007cascader Montana barely played in college. Your giving Montana too much credit. I don't hate Montana either. You nuthuggers are the problem not me.
@skywalker71903 Montana was great and probably the best clutch QB in the history of the NFL. The bigger the game the better he played (4-0 in SB with 11 td and no int). You can't blame Joe Cool for what team he played for or system, he still had to go out and perform. I mean Brady had the best offense in NFL history in 2007 yet in the big game he didn't pull through. Joe exelled with a mediocre 81 49ers team as well with one of the best the 89 49ers team.
I seen Bill Walsh coach other QB's like Guy Benjamin, Steve Dils, Steve DeBerg, Steve Stenstrom, and Turk Schonert. The problem with those guys, they held on to the ball a bit too look and took hits like Dan Fouts. Montana had that 6th sense when and where trouble was coming before even calling the play. He didn't want to disrupt Bill Walsh ego so he would make it look like a broken play (in which he would call pass but was running all the way or going to another play).
@skywalker71903 Yeah and Michael Jordan was only good b/c of the triangle offense too, right? A good system is important but having talented players is more important. The triangle didn't excel with Kwame Brown. Joe Montana won with Walsh and Seifert, with Rice and without, was a great Qb for the 49ers and Chiefs.
@skywalker71903 Just like Montana would dominate anywhere. He won a national title at ND, won multiple titles with SF, and even past his prime he took the Chiefs to the conference title game. I mean Jordan past his prime didn't even make playoffs. Montana had more mobility than Marino and better accuracy than Elway. He was great at knowing where everyone on the field was such as 3rd and 4th options and had a 6th sense when it came to getting rid of the ball just before getting sacked.
@BNS224 No he would not. Besides that KC Chiefs team was not bad before and after Montana.Montana can not take too many hits. Montana is no where near as Good as Elway. Those 1980's Bronco teams had suspect run game and defense was not that good either and suspect O-Line.Montana would not survive on a team like that.Montana was small and had weak arm.49ers from 1981-1990 had Top 5 Run and Top 5 Defense.Yall giving Montana too much credit
@skywalker71903 You're a fool, check out the 1981 niners super bowl team, and give me one everyday name on that offense besides maybe dwight clark. Everyone else was just ok, get the job done players. Montana carried that offens. Elway was good, but nowhere near Montana. Two even teams in a super bowl, who would you take? Montana or Elway? Is there even a debate? people tend to forget how great Joe was. The guy was an aboslute artist out there, he could check 3, 4, even 5 reads! come on man!
@gowarriors0716 Kid your giving Montana way too much credit.Great defense.Montana was a dink and dunk passer. The SYSTEM made him.Montana on Denver, come on your lost. Montana can not take too many hits. Montana would not survive on those Denver teams. The defense of 49ers during 1980's was very underrated.Stop giving Montana too much credit.

If I ranked QBs, it would be 1. Montana 2. Marino 3. Elway (went to 6 SB) 4. Manning/Brady 5. Aikman

As much as I like Marino...I have 2 say Joe is the best..he doesn't have Marino stats or his arm but he had superior touch nd accuracy, provided he played with way better teams than Marino...but the man never folded in big games..also he has solid career stats with those 4 rings

Joe made it look so easy when it is not! The man had ice running through his veins! I saw him play in his prime and trust me if # 16 was in

Marino never been to the super bowl how was he better ,Montana 3 time mbps sb winner hall of fame best qb in history hands down....
TheMrjeepman 5 months ago
@TheMrjeepman I'm getting tired of the "If a QB didn't win a superbowl he can't be the greatest" Argument. It is Complete BS. A Quarterbacks Job is to Hit His recievers with the Ball. And Be the Field General of the field, Be the greatest at reading the Defense. Who has done the best Job of Hitting his receivers with the Ball. What the defense, Special teams, Kickers, the Game is pretty much all Up to them.
lordvoldemort578 5 months ago
@lordvoldemort578 of course it can be an argument.Qb without ring is like a general without winning any major battle
minakis88 5 months ago
@minakis88 Nah, What if the General does everything he is supposed to do but His Supporting cast couldn't keep up with him?
lordvoldemort578 5 months ago
@lordvoldemort578 What if the General fucks up and has two blunders? Like those two interceptions in the Super Bowl. QB's should be judged on winning Super Bowls because it is the highest point of the mountain in football. Joe knew what he had to do and elevated himself in the playoffs. The west coast system was also based on quick precise reads and throws, which Joe was a master at. In a different offense he could have put up amazing numbers, but in the West coast he won.
TheDeathsRequiem 5 months ago
@lordvoldemort578 I would also like to add I don't think you should judge a QB solely on Super Bowl wins. I think Marino is better than Bradshaw, who also has 4. I judge a qb by regular season stats (in the context of the time they played in), playoff stats, leadership ability, ability to elevate their team, and super bowl wins. Taking all these into consideration, I have no choice but to put Joe Cool at number one. Its all opinions, though.
TheDeathsRequiem 5 months ago
@TheDeathsRequiem I agree with you. Super Bowl is a team achievement so to say that a Quarterback can't be in the argument like Dan Marino, some people say that, not saying you did. But it aggravates me because If You Put Marino On The 49ERS Squad who knows? And What if Joe Cool went to the Browns or Panthers of something I am very Interested in hearing your top 10 or top 5 then we can talk about it.
lordvoldemort578 5 months ago
@lordvoldemort578 I feel like EVERYTHING is a team achievement in in football, because its the ultimate team sport. Sam Bradford would have 4000 yds passing if his receivers didn't drop the ball. I don't think Marino would have been as successful on the 49ers team. The reason they won most Super Bowl is because of Joe's 11 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. The 49ers very well could have lost if Marino had been on the team. MY top 5 wouldn't include Marino, I would probably put him at 6.
TheDeathsRequiem 5 months ago
@TheDeathsRequiem Exactly, But I'm Talking about the regular season of what took them to the super bowl in the first place? Montana stats say he wasn't the best during the regular season, there were a lot of supporting facts that elevated him. And I'm not talking from him because his 11 to 0 touchdown/Int ratio speaks for itself. He can win. But It is a team achievement Just like the Heisman trophy is a Team Achievement Marino and Montana share Number 1 and if not 1 and 2 respectively
lordvoldemort578 5 months ago
@lordvoldemort578 Like I said, the system Montana played in was centered around passing, but it was all about the short precise passes. Joe's stats were never going to be as good as Marino's, that's for sure. I would put my top 5 as
1. Joe Montana
2. Johnny Unitas
3/4 Tom Brady/ Manning (Still left to debate)
5. John Elway
6. Dan Marino.
Its all opinion really, they're all great QBs.
TheDeathsRequiem 5 months ago
@TheDeathsRequiem As Far as Stats Marino is the best But winning, Playoffs and other I agree with your list.
lordvoldemort578 5 months ago
@lordvoldemort578 You know what? Fuck that.
1. Joe Montana
2. Johnny Unitas
3. Tom Brady
4. John Elway
5. Dan Marino
Dan had it much harder throwing against defenses in the 1980's, not to mention the overall passing game has made it easier for players like Manning.
TheDeathsRequiem 5 months ago 2
@TheDeathsRequiem The Speed is faster today and the complexity is more Intense today. Montana's system was about tricky right? 7 yard gains, 12 yard gains, stuff like that. Peyton Manning Has thrown for 4000 Yards Almost every season if we are talking about stats, but Playoffs? He chokes a little bit. Plus I agree with your list. Brady's game against the Bills this past Sunday wasn't too good he threw as much Ints in a game as he did all last year but fuck it, he had 379 pass attempts without

BuTeRs23 6 months ago
@BuTeRs23 They would suck. No offense to them They had great careers, But Back in the 80's and 70's the speed and Complexity was not quite what it is today, Montana is The best QB to play, but In today's game the shit they did Back then wouldn't work. Montana would get picked a lot Certain Offenses today require arm strength he didn't have. Reads are more complex today.
lordvoldemort578 5 months ago
@lordvoldemort578 : They would suck? Well, if Joe and Jerry had grown up in the "steriods in the meat and milk" era they would have been a little bigger, stronger and faster just like they are today. You can't coach "cool under pressure" and reading defenses. Montana would go through all of his reads before he set up in a seven step drop. Not even Payton Manning can do that. Payton would trip over his feet doing a seven step drop. Probably why he stays in the shotgun alot of the time.
Devildog0166 5 months ago
@Devildog0166 When Has Peyton Manning tripped? He ain't Like his brother. Sacking Himself...Seven step drops are no longer needed because todays NFL is so much faster. Peyton Reads Defense like a Super Human computer. He is In the Top conversation. I'm tired of the "quarterback superbowls" argument. Because If You can Put Peyton on the 49ers of that day and he would have 6 rings, You can't say the same For Joe Montana sorry..
lordvoldemort578 5 months ago
@lordvoldemort578 : A Bill Walsh 7 step drop is like a 5. If you ever played the game you would know that. Manning is in the gun most of the time or isn't under the center until they snap it to him. Both Mannings aren't like dad was in the mobility. And he wouldn't of had 6 rings with SF. Look at all the stats he has and is 1-1 in the SB. By the way, Joe didn't have to run the play clock down to 3 on every play either. Payton is good but if he was a "Super Human CPU" he would win every year.
Devildog0166 5 months ago
@Devildog0166 "If you ever played the game you would know that." So you played when? You act Like QB is a one man Job. Did you know that quarterback rating gets effected if a reciever drops a perfect pass? or when a running back fumbles it's peyton's fault right? Joe Never passed for 4,000 with Rice and so many others.
lordvoldemort578 5 months ago
@lordvoldemort578: Go play "Fantasy Football" or whatever you team trainers do for kicks. I'm not going to sit here and argue with someone that thinks 4000 yards is a measuring stick. Next you will be telling me that Emmitt Smith was a better back then Jim Brown or Barry Sanders because he had more yards. Get in Mannings face he is DONE! He can't get away from pressure. Joe wasn't the fastest but he made plays. Brady or Manning are done with pressure in their faces. You must be in your 20's!
Devildog0166 5 months ago
@Devildog0166 ??? Don't Play Fantasy football sorry. Now Your going to Say Brady and Manning? Who each set records Almost every year they Play. You Put Steve Young In After Montana got hurt and It was all good, No problems there. You can't say the same for the Pats or Colts, If they lose either Player both of their teams become below average. FACT. But according to you Emmit smith would be the best because he has more rings or some dumb shit Like that..
lordvoldemort578 5 months ago
@lordvoldemort578 Get a job and get off your moms cpu. You don't know shit about football and you never will because the best part of you was left on the sheets! Clutch performances, big stats, comebacks and winning a superbowl MVP makes a quarterback regarded as hero. Consistent winning, being the reason a team wins multiple championships at all, without losing, makes you a great one.
Explode36 6 months ago

WillTheThrill4Real 6 months ago
I'm not going to say that everyone on here is "hating". You are all entitled to your opinion. And yeah, he had a phenomenal team built around him. But I give him all the credit in the world. Not including "The Catch", look at his accuracy. It's insane! He hits his receiver in stride every single time! That and his clutch performances are what make him great. A "system" doesn't make you an accurate passer. You either are or you aren't. And Montana was the most accurate passers of all-time.
WillTheThrill4Real 6 months ago
@007cascader Montana barely played in college. Your giving Montana too much credit. I don't hate Montana either. You nuthuggers are the problem not me.
skywalker71903 6 months ago
@skywalker71903 Montana was great and probably the best clutch QB in the history of the NFL. The bigger the game the better he played (4-0 in SB with 11 td and no int). You can't blame Joe Cool for what team he played for or system, he still had to go out and perform. I mean Brady had the best offense in NFL history in 2007 yet in the big game he didn't pull through. Joe exelled with a mediocre 81 49ers team as well with one of the best the 89 49ers team.
BNS224 6 months ago
Respond to this video... Tom Brady and Peyton Manning don't have FOUR Superbowl wins and no INTs in the big dance... only Joe Kool
biglowe4776 6 months ago
I seen Bill Walsh coach other QB's like Guy Benjamin, Steve Dils, Steve DeBerg, Steve Stenstrom, and Turk Schonert. The problem with those guys, they held on to the ball a bit too look and took hits like Dan Fouts. Montana had that 6th sense when and where trouble was coming before even calling the play. He didn't want to disrupt Bill Walsh ego so he would make it look like a broken play (in which he would call pass but was running all the way or going to another play).
Ariamaluum 6 months ago
@Scotish34 Agree Montana is just a system product QB
skywalker71903 6 months ago
@skywalker71903 Yeah and Michael Jordan was only good b/c of the triangle offense too, right? A good system is important but having talented players is more important. The triangle didn't excel with Kwame Brown. Joe Montana won with Walsh and Seifert, with Rice and without, was a great Qb for the 49ers and Chiefs.
BNS224 6 months ago
@BNS224 Don't compare basketball to football.Jordan would be dominant anywhere.Don't work that way in football
skywalker71903 6 months ago
@skywalker71903 Just like Montana would dominate anywhere. He won a national title at ND, won multiple titles with SF, and even past his prime he took the Chiefs to the conference title game. I mean Jordan past his prime didn't even make playoffs. Montana had more mobility than Marino and better accuracy than Elway. He was great at knowing where everyone on the field was such as 3rd and 4th options and had a 6th sense when it came to getting rid of the ball just before getting sacked.
BNS224 6 months ago 5
@BNS224 No he would not. Besides that KC Chiefs team was not bad before and after Montana.Montana can not take too many hits. Montana is no where near as Good as Elway. Those 1980's Bronco teams had suspect run game and defense was not that good either and suspect O-Line.Montana would not survive on a team like that.Montana was small and had weak arm.49ers from 1981-1990 had Top 5 Run and Top 5 Defense.Yall giving Montana too much credit
skywalker71903 6 months ago
@skywalker71903 You're a fool, check out the 1981 niners super bowl team, and give me one everyday name on that offense besides maybe dwight clark. Everyone else was just ok, get the job done players. Montana carried that offens. Elway was good, but nowhere near Montana. Two even teams in a super bowl, who would you take? Montana or Elway? Is there even a debate? people tend to forget how great Joe was. The guy was an aboslute artist out there, he could check 3, 4, even 5 reads! come on man!
gowarriors0716 6 months ago
@gowarriors0716 Kid your giving Montana way too much credit.Great defense.Montana was a dink and dunk passer. The SYSTEM made him.Montana on Denver, come on your lost.
