@DrTravisto The character Sweeney Todd existed for about a century and a half, actually. Back in England, in the serial called String of Pearls. The version more popularized today is Stephen Sondheim's musical adaptation made in 1979. Then Burton made it a bit more darkly glamorous with Depp and Carter. If you saw the original Mrs. Lovett character... yuck.

I love how the animators paid tribute to the older type of animation(1920's -1940's) in this series. Also, the whole randomness and oddness of the situations and scenarios made this a very unique cartoon. I wish they had released a soundtrack to the series, excellently done by the Club Foot Orchestra.

That's a 1990s cartoon for ya. Before the FCC wanted all the cartoons to be educational, there were people who actually knew that cartoons could be just like the classic ones from the 1930s, 1940s, and possibly the 1950s.

You forgot the part during the meat song where the pig couple is feasting on a roast pig. The last time I saw references to cannibalism was in those really old theatrical cartoons (WB, MGM, Fleischer, Disney) that used to air on TV a lot, but is now on DVD with all the un-PC gags uncut.
