It was tricky to get the shot, Apollo 15, 16 and 17 all had rovers and the remotely operated camera had to be started 6 seconds before the left-off due to the delay. Glare correction. It's the same reason you can't see stars in the Hubble photos of Jupiter etc. In the case of the Moon, it's an effect similar to 'snow glare' on Earth, where light is reflecting from the extremely fine particles on the Moon's surface.

Come to think of it, the best way to insulate what little sound there was would be to mount the jets externally, which I think is what they did. Whilst Space is not a pure vacuum, it only has a density of something like 10-20 protons per cm cubed, which are flying past at around 300km/s and are too loosely distributed to transmit sound. There may still be some vibration-based sound through the fuselage, but it would barely be detectable.

No stars because of the luminosity of the moons surface. Just how you look up in a city at the night sky you will most likely only see the brightest objects whereas in the country you'll see much more. There is too much light reflecting off the moon which blocks out the stars. The flag waves through kinetic energy, it doesn't need air.

The camera take the video of the LEM lift-off is mounted on the Lunar Rover. It was tricky to get the shot, Apollo 15, 16 and 17 all had rovers and the remotely operated camera had to be started 6 seconds before the left-off due to the delay. Apollo 15 and 16 didn't get a decent shot due to the delay, the shot usually shown is from Apollo 17.

You can't hear the engine because there's no sound in space, the lunar lander can land better on the moon because there's less gravity and no areodynamic problems. Why isn't there moon dust on the lunar landers feet? Its because dust won't fly at them or vertically up, its flying away. Glare correction. It's the same reason you can't see stars in the Hubble photos of Jupiter etc. In the case of the Moon, it's an effect similar to 'snow glare' on Earth, where light is reflecting from the extremely fine particles on the Moon's surface.

Yes, the rockets would transfer their sound across the inside of the ship, which isn't a vacuum, however, those huge rockets were only used to get to orbit. The actual journey involved sling-shotting around Earth and using small maneuvering jets and the descent was handled in the same way. The LL's actual jets only produced 45,000N of thrust on descent, 80,000N less than an F14, compared to 34 Million for the launch stage of the Saturn V.

Come to think of it, the best way to insulate what little sound there was would be to mount the jets externally, which I think is what they did. Whilst Space is not a pure vacuum, it only has a density of something like 10-20 protons per cm cubed, which are flying past at around 300km/s and are too loosely distributed to transmit sound. There may still be some vibration-based sound through the fuselage, but it would barely be detectable.

No stars because of the luminosity of the moons surface. Just how you look up in a city at the night sky you will most likely only see the brightest objects whereas in the country you'll see much more. There is too much light reflecting off the moon which blocks out the stars. The flag waves through kinetic energy, it doesn't need air.

If they hoaxed the landings, dont you think they would of made it so there would have been no chance of anybody doubting it. It would have been perfect with no mistakes at all.. What about the other landings did they fake them as well? Not to mention Apollo 13.

Moon landings a hoax? Got classical physics? No stars in the pictures? How would YOU set your exposure? No blast crater after landing? Engine thrust 3000 lbs, engine nozzle 54 in., and thrust is only 1.5 lbs PER SQUARE IN! Shadows not black? Moon dust reflects back in direction light came from. (Google "heiligenschein".) It was all faked so accurately they may have just as well gone ahead. Don't forget ten years of preparation (Mercury, Gemini & 4 Apollo flights), & 400,000 American workers.

We can hear the astronauts over the sound of the engine because it produces very little sound. Space is a vacuum through which sound does not travel. Also, there is considerable space between the habitable portion of the module and the engine. Finally, the astronauts' voices were recorded by microphones close to their faces. The NASA "scientific illustration" referenced was created only for illustration purposes. We see no plume when the module departs, once again, because it is in a vacuum.

2) laser reflectors still in use today
3) Pics from the Japan LRO, which show the equipment left behind
