@badpanda84 well u r probably right bout the minimum wage part but its the principle dont u think? U can win and then say stick your job and your policies!!
Everybody needs to be careful whether they are LPOs, Employees or just some nice summeratine who wants to help, so I don't agree the employees should have been fired. They should perhaps just been told to be more careful next time or be given a warning, to fire them when the employees were just trying to help is absolutely stupid. By law anyone can make a citizens arrest so any store that has a policy not to get involved is dumb. If a person wants to help they should be allowed to.
@unscmaverick And on top of that it's about safety. What's say you chase that guy outside the door and he pulls a gun and shoots you, or his getaway ride runs your dumbass over? Oh you may not have been a pussy, but you were a flat out moron.
@unscmaverick Let me break this down for you, both as the son of a 20+ year law enforcement veteran, and the sibling of a multi-tour military combat veteran.
Rules are rules, they are there for a reason. Go to a crime scene and start picking shit up with no gloves, let random unrelated individuals walk through without stopping them... do you get my point?
it's not about being a pussy, it's about keeping your job. If best buy doesn't give a shit about the item, why the hell should you anyway?
@EarendurTelemnar They deserved to get stabbed and fired, as was the result of their breaking of store policies, that is why those policies are in place. If the dumbasses didn't chase the would-be thief/thieves, then they would have never been injured or fired, Best Buy would have submitted the videos to the police and dealt with the situation accordingly. So what if the thieves got away, Best Buy writes off a CD, not a $40k workers comp claim. ZERO TOLERANCE, is it that complex?
i think eveyone who works at retail or convenient stores should be allow to carry a firearm. when a robber walks into a store and sees a 9mm on the clerks waist, that would be a good deterent :)
@SmalltimR shut the fuck up FAG go eat shit if you were the employee youd be pissed, but also to avoid a future reply of yours with nonsense. you say i know the policy i wouldnt break the rules go shove it up your ass
@KINGofKOOLAID They have no right to be pissed off at anyone beyond themselves. What part of zero is not zero? And why are you so defensive, trying to insult someone else for their opinion? Are you one of these idiots who got fired for breaking store policy?
I know it's the principle of the matter but it just seems counter productive to risk the well being of an employee or worst a customer(law suit), so you catch the thief stealing a wrigley's .35 stick of gum and a customer gets run down because you decide to chase him down, now you get sued for $2 million over a .35 stick of gum.
I'd let them run and file a police report, if a have a security camera, pass the pic to the police and post one at the entrance to remind the thief his not welcome.
Catch 22, damned if you do or don't. I've worked for several different retail chains and know employees that were fired for NOT trying to catch them aswell as Loss prevention at Walmart losing their jobs because the guy they caught claimed to be "special" and got away with it. Funny, he wasn't "special" when he made the conscious choice to steal the motor oil he had.
A couple people are getting this wrong. There is a difference between "General Employees" and "Loss Prevention Employees". These general employees violated company policy and put the company at risk of liability.
Before you go thinking it's FREEBIE day at Best Buy it's not true...they have trained "Loss Prevention" people that are allowed to take ya down.
i work with deaf people and they need to be treated as others do....there is no reason to put anyone in a head lock...but they know better not to shop lift just as we shouldnt...this shouldnt be an act of if they were doing their job or not...they would have done it to a hearing person to...they should get the training needed in order to know how to deal with the Deaf, but they havent so its not their fault.
Store employees should NEVER use force EVER. No i'm not an advocate for shplifting, but its petty. I totally agree that they should have gotten fired.
policy is policy. regardless of the situation, they should have left the shoplifter alone, and reported the incident. I'm sure there are cameras on the property
Not a flawed policy. There's a reason employees aren't allowed to make stops...for exactly the reason showed here. People will get hurt, they're not properly trained, and the rules are clear. Besides which, these guys weren't trying to do "what's right," they were in it for the action. If they were in it for what's right they would have followed the rules and just called the cops or a manager. Not only do they deserve to be fired, they shouldn't be entitled to unemployment compensation.
OMG what kind of shit is this! Shoplifting is wrong i applaud the employees who want to do the right thing! they should have not been fired i say suspension without pay or something firing was too extreme. We need tighter security at these kinds of locations! where was security in all this ? Best Buy has loss prevention don't they? were they on break? did they not see this? we need better security who can do there job correctly so that the other employees don't have to
we need a court of common sense sometimes to make rulings on such occasions. One thing I wonder is what everyones take is say had these 2 employees been successful in capturing and apprehending the thief and no one was stabbed, would these 2 have been lauded for their actions rather than being fired? And would your opinion be different than what it is now regarding the firing?
i worked in retail too and the reason why you dont tackle shoplifters is it is a liability. you are an educated idiot. people like u are the reason we have so many law suits in this country.
@horizen12 No greedy lawyers and your own the fact that your own justice system entertains such ridiculous claims is the reason why you have so many law suits (thanks for making it compulsory for every take away cup in the world to display a warning that coffee made with boiling water is hot BTW) I dont live in the USA my legal system (not with out it's own flaws) at least exercises some common sense suits brought by theifs will be thrown unless they were choked or punched
@tullyDT not in america if you touch them it is assault. the companies get sued. its stupid. corporations selter out of court vs in court to get out of high lawsuit costs. they always cave to save money.
It's worse in Ireland you can get fired for defending yourself. Two weeks ago at my job security caught a shop lifter and the manager went over to see what had happened. The shoplifter broke free of the security guards grip and rushed at the manager his arm came up from behind his back so it looked like he was pulling a blade from his back pocket. The manager punched the guy in self defense and got fired for his trouble
There are generally security who are trained for shoplifter encounters and what to expect, regular store employees aren't. But this is a bad thing to air out their policy of no contact once they leave the store. It sends the message that all they have to do is grab something and run out and once they are outside, they're fine.
Let me get this right? If Security catches a bad guy there is a possibility that Security could loose his or her job and then the department store can be sued.
Let me tell you what I see happening in the future, One day Security and the Police are going to get very tired of being fire and sued over situations like this and criminals will take over by committing all types of crime agaisnt the Citizens of America. There will no longer be any policing hardly stop the crime.
people steal because they cant find jobs it easier to steal high priced items. This means less chance of getting caught. half of these people can't get work in a good economy much less a bad. these idiots making minimum wage need to step out the way and left the police handle it. what kinda hero are you stopping the poor from trying to survive however they can. they are not stealing from you. they are stealing from elites who hoard the wealth of the world.
@horizen12 You know I'm too poor to afford a car do you mind if I steal yours after all you paid for it and supported the big corporation that built the car and provide jobs and wages for all the people working for it
@tullyDT hey stupid! i didnt say it was right to steal, i said if u r going to steal a corporation is better to take from than an average citizen. I also said why would you defend a billion dollar businesses profits. im not giving a license to steal just i understand why it is happening and that best buy can afford to hire security with $100 hdmi cord prices. bow to your corporate masters slave. do you need to feel the chains to know your life is in bondage.
@horizen12 No you didnt you said it's okay to steal if it's from a corporation. Stealing is wrong full stop it doesn't matter if it is a person or a company. If you rob $10 worth of stuff and 1000 other people rob $10 thats $10000 stolen. That money doesn't just go into the CEO's pockets it's used to pay staff wades, taxes, heating and electricity, rental of the premises and the stock they sell.
I worked in retail while I was studying in college the majority of those who shop lift aren't the Robin Hoods that you paint them out to be they can easily afford the items they steal but they dont pay because they think they can get away with it. It would have been so easy for me to shop lift money was that tight due to my rent and college fees but I didnt I budgeted and saved and gave up luxuries I couldn't afford just like others people do and it's on that principle that I would stop a thief
Apparently, the guy doesn't get it, even though he says he does. The policy is there exactly for the reason the other person stated: to avoid lawsuits.
Fuck those talking heads! If someone is doing something wrong, it is everyone's job to stop it if it is within their power. Cops can't be everywhere and superheroes aren't real. Stand up for your fellow man and maybe someone will throw out a hand when you need one. We've all read stories of people who've done extraordinary things but those moments have all been sensationalized. It was a moment where a person said, "fuck, what do i do?" And did something. No one remembers the bad decisions.
This is just opening up the doors for the shoplifters, when they know that they can just walk in and get stuff knowing nobody will stop them. But I see the point why they would have this policy though.
It is a safety issue and a liability issue. The policy is sound. Instead, if you are talking about a small business where the owner stops the thief on his/her own then that is "acceptable" as long as he/she understands that he/she takes everyone's safety in his/her hands. In defense of your own life or another's life from imminent harm (or extreme injury) is the only time you could really make a case for someone getting physically involved to prevent that action.
@FlippinWindows you are a fucking idiot. thieves should be shot on site, no questions. the way you defend the shitbag in your video you must be a thief piece of shit yourself. go die, your mother is a cunt.

@HumeAnnoyed dude i aint risking my life for coorporate money ! fuck them , they have lots of money. its a different story to go out and help someone in need and a different one to pretend to be batman just so a multibillion dollar company saves 20$ !!! its ridiculous !
Seriously even if there wasn't this rule i STILL wouldn't risk my life for any company considering the wages they give employees. If companies wanted shoplifters stopped they should hire specially trained people JUST for that job.
Rules are rules. You put yourself in danger, you get fired. Simple as that, doesn't seem to unreasonable for me. It's not only Best Buy, almost EVERY retail employer enforces that same policy.
I almost forgot if the bosses don't want to stop the shoplifters then they should shut the fuck up and let the emoployees do their jobs :) thank you come again
Any business that has that type of policy is just wrong... a person shouldn't get fired just for being a good employee... who's to say that one day an ordinary rich person starts stealing do you tackle them of course not they sue your ass... for me I would key their car put a hole in their tires and throw bags of dog shit on the windshield... as for the people I would work for the better be greatful I stomped my foot in the shotlifters ass I'm just saying :) thank you come again
@GUNVALKERIE even though the answer is said in the video, you have to look at it from the company's point of view : imagine this, a shoplifter steals something worth 100 dollars, an employee tries to stop him and gets injured. The employee then sues the company for hundreds of thousands of dollars ... so the company would prefer the shoplifter leaves with 100 dollars than have one of their employee suing them for injury at work for much more. Hope this covers your answer.
Store policy is store policy, it is for the protection of both shoplifter and employee safety, you can not enforce store policy without consequence. This didn't make this up for kicks. It probably is not for any other reason than they lose more money in lawsuits than the occasional theft, secondly from what I understand they were not trained loss prevention, which doesn't really make a difference because most of those guys are idiots anyways.
so if there was a robbery at this best buy and i was working there I'm just allowed to be shot and do nothing or ill loose my job? that's pretty fucking retarded if I'm going to get shot I'm going to get shot and killed with trying to kill them rather then letting them get away with that bull shit. another thing is about4 months ago a man tried to mug me hit me int eh face and do you think i did nothing ? and i defended my self cops came and all that and i was fine.
@demonask Self defense is COMPLETELY different. If a shoplifter - or anyone for that matter - attacked you in the store, you can absolutely defend yourself. However you are NOT law enforcement, therefore you CANNOT enforce the law. Him walking out of the store with a pair of headphones is not putting your life in danger. Chasing him down and potentially injuring him or yourself costs MORE money for the company to cover medical expenses. You are NOT helping the store by chasing down shoplifters.
Example:Murder someone is against the law and you will be jail, the murderer shall be punish, those 2 Best Buy employee didn't follow the policy, punish will be given, what good is a Law and Policy if someone can't follow it, so my answer is no fucking warning, they deserve to be fire
Russia lost 30% of their crops this last trowing time growing grains....prepare people...food shortage coming up soon....that means farms won't be able to keep with demand...
1) if employees pursue and tackle a shoplifter, Bestbuy can get sued. that means the company is losing thousands of dollars all over one freaking stolen object. dont be so narrowminded kid, think of the big picture here.
2) more importantly, the employees could've been killed. hell, one of them got STABBED. are you saying employees should risk their lives over a couple bucks? i wonder who's really the "dumb bitch".
So best buy lets you shop lift O_o Boy, if I was the manager I'd get really pissed if someone stole something from my store, but it's Best Buy... I give props to the loyal employers getting the shoplifter, but a tear for their job loss especially with the economy... that's a blow X(
if your a fucking cashier at t=best buy why would u try to risk your life and stop a shoplifter for haha especially if your work for a big corparation like best buy im pretty sure theyll live with a few grand stolen form there store then a million dollar lawsuit
well......they were employees, and they should have known the rules. i actually appreciate that best buy is sticking to their guns on their rules. it IS, unfortunate that they lost their jobs......but they knew the rules. sometimes things in the military seem right, but because the military says it is wrong, it is.....even if it seems morally right.
LMAO at "What if the Police arrive at the scene of this tussle and so forth, they don't know who's who at this point, whether it's the employee or the bad guy."
Uhmm the employee would be the one with the bright yellow polo with "BEST BUY" on it. smh
You know BestBuy has this policy because of dirtbag lawyers (#1 donors to democrats) that will swoop in and claim brutality and then sue BB for this poor scumbags rights.
The pussification of America is almost complete. Democrats are the true enemy of America.
@goatbut29 CAPITALISM IS THE TRUE ENEMY OF AMERICA. #1 donors to democrats? Greedy politicians. Greedy companies. Yeah, that's capitalism. Dirtbag lawyers? No, I think you meant Greedy lawyers. Greedy poor. Greedy rich. Capitalism is suicidal. People in America die from having too much (heart disease/diabetes). People in Africa die from having too little (hunger).
@amazingyou1uber I dont disagree with you, what I meant was the Trial Lawyers Association is the #1 donor to the democrat party. Now...why is that? Ambulance chasers, frivolous lawsuits, and blocked Tort reform is the name of the game. They know which side their butter is on, you can bet on that. The democrats are the party for low lifes of every walk, be it rich lawyers, or illegal aliens. They all have a home under the commie banner.
@goatbut29 Now...why is that? VERY SIMPLE. MORE CAPITAL. MORE MONEY. Capital is the name of the game. Both political parties are for low life whose only goal in life is to make as much money as possible. Socialism will prevail.
it's one thing when it's a family shop and a completely different one when it's a multi-million dollar corporation. don't put yourself in harms way, i'm sure best-buy can make up for a stolen movie or ipod (or w/e it may have been).
Companies have insurance, they get reimbursed for stolen property or they have allowances for stolen goods, you're risking your life and customers lives for products worth under or just over $100. Don't be a hero, unless you are rescuing some baby from a burning car. Although I don't agree that they should be fired, I certainly hope Best Buy doesn't get sued, Imagine a stolen $4.99 DVD turns into a multi-million dollar lawsuit. I don't want to pay $9.99 for my movies cause u tired to be a hero
because.. if some of their employee will be wounded and sent to the hospital, it would cost them more.. you know what i mean? and it would event cost more if they die.. so i think they wanted their employees to be safe so they wont worry about hospital bills.. you get my point?
LMAO, you critics act as if it only happens in the U.S. STFU, there's places like Asia and Africa where ive lived for years at a time. always have to pick on a great country like the U.S
This is not just for employee and CUSTOMER safety it is also because employees do not know appropriate use of force and ANY force could result in a lawsuit settlement after the fact and could result in a death - such as the recent CVS manager who choked a shoplifter to death for stealing crayons and a toothbrush.
Nothing the shoplifter can carry out of the story is more expensive than a legal settlement
@FissionNonStop shut the fuck up you dumb motherfucker. What country are you from dumbass? Its funny that you call the U.S. a shit country, LOL. Have you ever been here it is the best. I think you are just jealous. And America is not a country dumbass dont call us stupid.
At the restaurant I work at(Bob Evans) we are told not to be a hero. It actually says "Dont be a hero". Of course, I dont know what its like at Best Buy; I dont work there. We have a silent alarm and a much more smaller area(you have the cash register, not a whole store) so this is probably just rambling.
it is a sad day when in a country built upon the pursuit of life, liberty, and property, two citizens doing their job and protecting the assets of their employers gets terminated. a sad, sad fucking day.
One thing leads to another.. Best Buy is CORRECT in this. What next? Say one of those workers get killed... Best Buy is sued. Say the person WASN'T shoplifting(like in youtube video where 2 deaf guys get tackled and choked for mistaken "shoplifting").. Best Buy gets sued.. People get hurt..
CommonSensePeter is exhibiting no common sense.. just that he's an idiot.
@FissionNonStop Look. I understand. You're an idiot and you can't see past the tip of your nose. You feel lost and scared. It's ok.
Lawsuits are meaningless. Even if lawsuits didn't exist, Best Buy did THE RIGHT THING. The fact that you're an idiot won't change that. I'm sorry
You know how I know you're an idiot? In the fact that you had nothing intelligent to say. You throw meaningless insults but don't support your view. I'm better than you - you can't offend me.
Been in retail for 10 years, I don't care what the company policy is, I would never get involved. Steal what you want, I don't care, the company is not going to protect me so fuck it, let them hire armed security to deal with the shoplifting.
@molnardian I agree bey ... I is work as a cashier here in Florida and it's true .. if they WANT security let them pay for armed security. I have no guns, or anything to protect me against thieves.
I don't understand this policy...so they are saying someone can go in Best Buy get a cart and wheel out a 60" Plasma and nobody can do anything about it??
They are not trying to be loyal employees. They are using violence and they are not authorized by to use violence on a stranger in our country unless you are law enforcement or defending yourself. If they encouraged people to be vigilantes then they would be encouraging crime. The tackling of the suspected shoplifter is assault which could be worse than petty theft if the shop lifter turned out to be innocent. Good intentions do not override the law... like stealing for food.
fucking retards have you seen the incident were two deaf people where tackled? this is inexcusable and illegal they should have been fired and I'm glad they were.
Stop them before they leave the store lol problem solved, otherwise get a profile from the camera and file a report with the police, why chase after them, best buy employees are not police trained
Same as a School Teacher intervening with a student fight, Trained School Security guards handle student situation…... Why should a teacher place oneself at risk?

This is simple black and white stuff here folks.,
No clue what's so hard about doing this.
I swear, our society is getting dumber by the day, reading how everyone thinks they can justify breaking rules and policies for whatever reason.
FTR. When you sign an employment contract, that is an agreement to follow the rules of engagement. And(as advertised)...
Balk, whine, bitch, complain whatever.
Learn to follow the rules or gtfo!

the black guys last point made no sense. wouldnt employees be wearing khaki pants and a blue polo shirt?

Nope, the policy is clear.
They broke the rules which they clearly knew and understood.
The process stands and they now serve as examples.

94kandykane49 1 year ago
I know it's the principle of the matter but it just seems counter productive to risk the well being of an employee or worst a customer(law suit), so you catch the thief stealing a wrigley's .35 stick of gum and a customer gets run down because you decide to chase him down, now you get sued for $2 million over a .35 stick of gum.
I'd let them run and file a police report, if a have a security camera, pass the pic to the police and post one at the entrance to remind the thief his not welcome.
Pekabooicu 1 year ago
Damn they don't follow you? Good to know.
12GaugeLosAngeles 1 year ago
Catch 22, damned if you do or don't. I've worked for several different retail chains and know employees that were fired for NOT trying to catch them aswell as Loss prevention at Walmart losing their jobs because the guy they caught claimed to be "special" and got away with it. Funny, he wasn't "special" when he made the conscious choice to steal the motor oil he had.
Mightymopar1973 1 year ago
A couple people are getting this wrong. There is a difference between "General Employees" and "Loss Prevention Employees". These general employees violated company policy and put the company at risk of liability.
Before you go thinking it's FREEBIE day at Best Buy it's not true...they have trained "Loss Prevention" people that are allowed to take ya down.
Kwicherbichen 1 year ago
@Kwicherbichen
Yeah, but where were those trained LP people that day?
logik316 1 year ago
i work with deaf people and they need to be treated as others do....there is no reason to put anyone in a head lock...but they know better not to shop lift just as we shouldnt...this shouldnt be an act of if they were doing their job or not...they would have done it to a hearing person to...they should get the training needed in order to know how to deal with the Deaf, but they havent so its not their fault.

Store employees should NEVER use force EVER. No i'm not an advocate for shplifting, but its petty. I totally agree that they should have gotten fired.

RoguePlanet 1 year ago 2
OMG what kind of shit is this! Shoplifting is wrong i applaud the employees who want to do the right thing! they should have not been fired i say suspension without pay or something firing was too extreme. We need tighter security at these kinds of locations! where was security in all this ? Best Buy has loss prevention don't they? were they on break? did they not see this? we need better security who can do there job correctly so that the other employees don't have to
Saintmarrow 1 year ago
we need a court of common sense sometimes to make rulings on such occasions. One thing I wonder is what everyones take is say had these 2 employees been successful in capturing and apprehending the thief and no one was stabbed, would these 2 have been lauded for their actions rather than being fired? And would your opinion be different than what it is now regarding the firing?
krnboy18 1 year ago
i worked in retail too and the reason why you dont tackle shoplifters is it is a liability. you are an educated idiot. people like u are the reason we have so many law suits in this country.

@horizen12 No greedy lawyers and your own the fact that your own justice system entertains such ridiculous claims is the reason why you have so many law suits (thanks for making it compulsory for every take away cup in the world to display a warning that coffee made with boiling water is hot BTW) I dont live in the USA my legal system (not with out it's own flaws) at least exercises some common sense suits brought by theifs will be thrown unless they were choked or punched
tullyDT 1 year ago
the same goes for situations where a persons own actions uninfluenced by others led to them to being injured
tullyDT 1 year ago
@tullyDT not in america if you touch them it is assault. the companies get sued. its stupid. corporations selter out of court vs in court to get out of high lawsuit costs. they always cave to save money.
horizen12 1 year ago
It's worse in Ireland you can get fired for defending yourself. Two weeks ago at my job security caught a shop lifter and the manager went over to see what had happened. The shoplifter broke free of the security guards grip and rushed at the manager his arm came up from behind his back so it looked like he was pulling a blade from his back pocket. The manager punched the guy in self defense and got fired for his trouble
tullyDT 1 year ago
There are generally security who are trained for shoplifter encounters and what to expect, regular store employees aren't. But this is a bad thing to air out their policy of no contact once they leave the store. It sends the message that all they have to do is grab something and run out and once they are outside, they're fine.
diskman01 1 year ago
Let me get this right? If Security catches a bad guy there is a possibility that Security could loose his or her job and then the department store can be sued.
Let me tell you what I see happening in the future, One day Security and the Police are going to get very tired of being fire and sued over situations like this and criminals will take over by committing all types of crime agaisnt the Citizens of America. There will no longer be any policing hardly stop the crime.

@tullyDT hey stupid! i didnt say it was right to steal, i said if u r going to steal a corporation is better to take from than an average citizen. horizen12 1 year ago
@horizen12 No you didnt you said it's okay to steal if it's from a corporation. Stealing is wrong full stop it doesn't matter if it is a person or a company. If you rob $10 worth of stuff and 1000 other people rob $10 thats $10000 stolen. That money doesn't just go into the CEO's pockets it's used to pay staff wades, taxes, heating and electricity, rental of the premises and the stock they sell.
tullyDT 1 year ago
I worked in retail while I was studying in college the majority of those who shop lift aren't the Robin Hoods that you paint them out to be they can easily afford the items they steal but they dont pay because they think they can get away with it. It would have been so easy for me to shop lift money was that tight due to my rent and college fees but I didnt I budgeted and saved and gave up luxuries I couldn't afford just like others people do and it's on that principle that I would stop a thief

screwedandchoppedtv 1 year ago
It is a safety issue and a liability issue. The policy is sound. Instead, if you are talking about a small business where the owner stops the thief on his/her own then that is "acceptable" as long as he/she understands that he/she takes everyone's safety in his/her hands. In defense of your own life or another's life from imminent harm (or extreme injury) is the only time you could really make a case for someone getting physically involved to prevent that action.

GUNVALKERIE 1 year ago
Any business that has that type of policy is just wrong... a person shouldn't get fired just for being a good employee... who's to say that one day an ordinary rich person starts stealing do you tackle them of course not they sue your ass... for me I would key their car put a hole in their tires and throw bags of dog shit on the windshield... as for the people I would work for the better be greatful I stomped my foot in the shotlifters ass I'm just saying :) thank you come again
GUNVALKERIE 1 year ago
@GUNVALKERIE even though the answer is said in the video, you have to look at it from the company's point of view : imagine this, a shoplifter steals something worth 100 dollars, an employee tries to stop him and gets injured. The employee then sues the company for hundreds of thousands of dollars ... so the company would prefer the shoplifter leaves with 100 dollars than have one of their employee suing them for injury at work for much more. Hope this covers your answer.
algorhythm 1 year ago
Store policy is store policy, it is for the protection of both shoplifter and employee safety, you can not enforce store policy without consequence. This didn't make this up for kicks. It probably is not for any other reason than they lose more money in lawsuits than the occasional theft, secondly from what I understand they were not trained loss prevention, which doesn't really make a difference because most of those guys are idiots anyways.
888archangel 1 year ago
so if there was a robbery at this best buy and i was working there I'm just allowed to be shot and do nothing or ill loose my job? that's pretty fucking retarded if I'm going to get shot I'm going to get shot and killed with trying to kill them rather then letting them get away with that bull shit. another thing is about4 months ago a man tried to mug me hit me int eh face and do you think i did nothing ? and i defended my self cops came and all that and i was fine.
demonask 1 year ago 2
@demonask Self defense is COMPLETELY different. If a shoplifter - or anyone for that matter - attacked you in the store, you can absolutely defend yourself. However you are NOT law enforcement, therefore you CANNOT enforce the law. Him walking out of the store with a pair of headphones is not putting your life in danger. Chasing him down and potentially injuring him or yourself costs MORE money for the company to cover medical expenses. You are NOT helping the store by chasing down shoplifters.

They are not trying to be loyal employees. They are using violence and they are not authorized by to use violence on a stranger in our country unless you are law enforcement or defending yourself. If they encouraged people to be vigilantes then they would be encouraging crime.
