  • good work here

  • BRAVO UNITED STATES , AND NASA , NOW LETS GO WHERE NO MAN HAS GONE BEFORE .

    GIANFRANCO FRONZI. FEBRUARY / 3 / 12

  • did anyone else notice the use of music from Battlestar Galactica at 7:44 ?

  • great video thanks

  • This is a great video

  • Ah... the space shuttle designed as a strategic bomber that could go anywhere on earth

  • so why do they call it explore if we really never go anywhere

  • i hate the ideas that human kind divides its species with border and country's

  • @deadcauz and countless laws and obligations stripping us from our freedom.

  • They finished star trek, that's why we don't make education 199, infact, michaco says 201, some obnoxiousness that I remember from 1986, I laughed and laughed as I was a child, no mind, but oh how I pitty your mind, its not forever. Really no gyro shuttle? It's not forever at all.

  • see!! nasa already had invented a "FLY BY WIRE" system you see the joy stick, so...airbus technology isn't really theirs, it was nasa technology!

  • Blue Man Group - Exhibit 13 music. Good choice

  • There is not god, god suck my dick!!!

  • NASA must be revitalize, it is essential to our national security

and the advancement our our way of life.

  • @WrightvWrong Nasa was only good when they where facing competition from the USSR. Now they don't really have any competitors. It's time for Privatization to take over.

  • @WrightvWrong dumbass

  • Christer Fugelsang in the End! Go Sweden :).

I like to watch this movie, but in a more intelligent world movies like this would have a million views.

  • down with usa, live mexico!!!

  • USA!!USA!!USA!!

  • the space craft of my generation. farewell.

  • and the first thing a black guy does when coming to power is to kill the shuttle program

i'm nothing against black ppl but that is just messed up !

  • @labobo Actually it was Bush who killed the shuttle program in 2004, but thanks for letting everyone know how much of a dumbass you are!

  • @audisportracer lol

i'm not an american, what's your excuse ?

i knew it was a president that did it but not who it was and other people on youtube said obama did it.

obama seemed like the type to do such a thing, he's real prick.

i really didn't care who did it because the who doesn't matter, it's stupid and shortsighted no matter who did it

guess i like obama a bit more now but he's still a prick

  • @labobo wow..what an idiot.

  • The Space Shuttle- A program ended in uncertain times.

  • It's about time to sell tickets to the Moon for 100 bucks / return!

  • The real reason for ending the program was that Russia & China were worried it could be used when they invade us soon.

  • What a beautiful film

  • "Mars, the next logical step on the path of exploration, is dismissed as too costly." This makes me shudder. Money is something I'd call the most irrelevant thing there is, when it comes to things that actually matter. Do we have the resources to send man to the Mars? Sure as hell we do. Is now the right time? Perhaps not, we can't even settle our own primitive "anti-economy" straight, let alone our whole social system.

But perhaps, perhaps we can overcome such issues someday.

  • @Uribaani What's funny is we have 4 trillion dollars to spend on pointless wars, but we're not willing to spend that money on a lunar colony or martian human exploration. That make's COMPLETE sense. SMH

  • To all those confused, the first and last song is from The Dark Knight soundtrack, the first being "A Watchful Guardian", and the second, "Like a Dog Chasing Cars". The links are as follows: AWG- /watch?v=fOOE7faI6xw LADCC - /watch?v=a8-XarUUxM0

Hope this clears up the confusion. The space shuttle deserves such great music.

  • 17,500mph Ive never had the honour of seeing a space shuttle launch and now I never will, it makes me sad! better to spend money on thimgs like this than religious wars!!!!!!!!!! especially seen as though god doesnt exist, now thats stupidly foolish!!

  • @TheSulphuric Religious wars? I don't think the US has waged wars for religion. They don't believe in Prophets, they believe in Profits...

  • @SultanMehmed this is true, I bet they make a fortune on the ammunition they sell, I don't remember making my other comment and don't even agree with myself haha. (apart from the bit about the space shuttle)

  • @TheSulphuric GOD DOES EXIST YOU SHIT FOR BRAINS!!!!!!!!!

  • What is the music used in the ending , btw amazing scenes.

  • Comment removed

  • Paul Hill you cheese ball. "they absolutely believe that they are the one's... "

I'm sure they believe they are talented and capable and will do the best they can. And in allegiance with their talented colleagues, and with all the previous successes and talent that has already imbued the space program they feel the current mission has a very good chance of success.

  • thumbs up for batman begins soundtrack

  • awesome!

  • Thank you NASA, God bless you Astronauts.

  • His voice is perfect for this kind of stuff! I want more shows like these.

  • Quality!

  • Way to have Battlestar Galactica music in this video.

  • This is what I imagine the Star fleet orientation video feeling like.

  • Great Job guys and Gals!!

  • >>>>>Holy ****. This video is EPIC. !!!!!!!<<<<<

  • Gave me chill bumps. This is amazing.

  • That was beautiful! :'-)

  • Spacerip is the most awsomestist channel ever.

  • Background music in the beginning is from Dark Knight... Epic. I love SpaceRip :)

  • @danielcaraj Don't worry, the rest of the world knows very well that there are more countries in America. All of them with their own identity ;)

  • I wish I saw the last shuttle launch

  • @Jeff12798 still another one to go I believe.

  • @Jeff12798 The last shuttle launch will be in September 2011 if all goes well, so you can still plan a trip over to Florida.

  • @1971ojoalparche1971 July 8 2011

  • Fuck why am I crying auuugh.

  • I still don't understand what REQUIREMENTS the space shuttle was created to fulfill. Was it just a temporary space station we could send up for a few orbits around the Earth... But for what purpose? I am unaware of any Earth shattering knowledge that came from micro-gravity experiments, even after the ISS. I really don't think the Space Shuttle was about exploration at all, and the Enterprise name in itself was probably unsuited for that reason.

  • @zassounotsukushi I may not understand your quistion enough as it already seems you would know this .....but the space shuttle was originaly designed as an inter-continental ballistic missile taught up by Hitler and his mates during the war and then its technology was further developed for space exploration.

  • very for-filling video

  • Sorry for that, but NASA has no money. Forget going to the moon and mars or asteroids. 1 Flight and the NASA must fly with russian rockets. The private industry tries to build some spacecrafts... But I've seen no human transportation system.

  • I wonder if NASA has an alien contact protocal. :)

  • @iamtheplauge it does

  • William Shatner's voice on this video is epic. I just wish he said kirk out at the end :)

  • Great video.

  • On the Del Marva Peninsula of Virginia, the Wallops Flight Facility of NASA is busy working with the Russians on the next generation equipment. Now being Paid for with China's money (chattled by the US taxpayers means we all pay it back,....with interest)) NASA is far from finished. It's now just working on a 'Pay Day Loan'.. LV's 'Pawn Star' takes over when US taxpayers are destitute..

EPA apparently does not see toxic emissions? To EPA.'only' cars, manufacturing and power plants are Toxic.

  • I don't care about artificial hearts or biotechnology I just want to explore for the sake of exploring, its one of our deepest instincts and trying to repress it is futile.

Considering I'd take a one way ticket to Mars, to say I support NASA is an understatement.

Give the $700bn military budget to NASA and give NASA's $10bn (average) to the military.

  • @Ashitaka255 With that amount of money I'm sure they could create some sort of anti-gravity, Mach 50-60 speed super strong and light spacecraft.

  • @CookieMonzta1995 Who knows, things we consider science fiction could become reality within the decade.

  • @Ashitaka255 They probably already are just we never know about it. Some of the aviation vehicles of today are known to be reverse-engineered. I just hope for the sake of human-kind someone uncovers or finds out the truth.

  • what's the title of the music starting at 7:43 ?

  • thanks for uploading mate !!

to be just one of all those people helping humanity forward,,, shucks,, makes it support seem irrelevant to be honest

  • They'll hold off till another country is close till the same capability.. Then nasa will launch an new space program.

  • Why do the crew still fly to the Cape. Two of the Apollo astronaut core were killed when their planes crashed. It just seems an unnecessary risk. Unless the idea is that all the crew aren't on one plane at the same time.

  • 7:43 I love how Battlestar Galactica music starts playing when they start to talk about the Star Trek fan campaign.

  • GRACIAS NASA, sois la punta de lanza de la humanidad.

    greetings from Spain ; )

  • 如果愿意对全世界公开一切细节并分享详细资料,世界其他地方的人们便愿意承认其声称的所谓“为了全人类的幸福和文明“,否则,一切就都是伪善,就像其历来所做的那样。

  • You just gotta love Shatner... I only know the guy from Boston Legal, but apparently he played in star trek!!!

  • Me gustó, salvo la parte en que se refieren a si mismos como AMERICA, es una falta de respeto a la docenas de países AMERICANOS

  • @danielcaraj Exacto! In French I say like you say in Spanish: "Etatsuniens" "Estodounidenses"; not sure how to say in English though...? when I say "united-stats' people" I'm not understood... ;-)

  • @KumaKonda Agree ;)

  • @danielcaraj Es lo que tiene que el país se llame igual que el continente...

It's simply wonderful what human can do. I bealieve this is just the begining of a new age in the exploration of the space.

I'm happy of being able to see with my own eyes and live in this very moment, because It's a great time for science and so for man's imagination.

    :)

  • @danielcaraj

Their country has America in its name. " of America". I am Brazilian and see no big deal when they do that. Take it easy.

  • @danielcaraj Yeah, people do that a lot :)

(I remember a geography class, where the teacher had me repeat the answer, until I changed my answer from "America" to "USA"; for reference, I live in Europe.)

  • @danielcaraj concordo soy de Brasil

  • @danielcaraj indeed nasa is not only america!

still the ending was fantastic ".........explore!....."

  • this video was so AMERICA!

    AMERICAAAA YEAH AMERICA

    (narrated by a Canadian)

    ...makes ya think.

    I'm thinking about space...

  • THE SHATNER

  • There's... something on the wing, some thing...

  • ...yeah, less Military budget and more for space exploration and...te Metro of New york city to...

  • great little doco very interesting

  • That was cool and all but there's still some stuff I need to know! Like um is that glass in the spaceships mixed with diamonds? I heard it was but that was a long time ago so anyone who knows message me!

  • I agree with the sentiment of peace not war, however this should be about major countries combining space craft construction and exploration for the whole of Earth, We need a space station and centre on the Moon to then move into true space exploration.

  • NASA still trying to figure out how to get a manned mission thru the VanAllen and into 'deep space' since the 50`s ,kinda sad. They should just scrap the whole program.

  • you americans need more science...less religion and go to mars...

  • @ALFTUBE50 geez! NASA still cant get a manned mission thru the VanAllen into 'deep space' to the Moon ,forget Mars.Compton Gamma Ray Observatory did not go up til 1993,itll be maaany years b4 they figure out how to get a manned mission thru the VanAllen into 'deep space'.

  • sigh... america needs inspiration to learn. the only thing children and teenagers wanna do in america consist of drinking and having sex. GG

  • oh ya digitizedself.... and russia is also part asia technically. and im from asia.. so it kinda makes me comfortable going there lol :)

  • You guys DO realize that the Space Race wasn't primarily to bring humans to space, right?

It was a war to get to space first to start building satellites that have the capability to launch nuclear warheads.

  • seamstresses?

  • America is freaking broke. I support the space program but that should be the cherry on the reestablished economy cake. Until then cutbacks are necessary on all levels.

  • @Clausfarre cutbacks across the grid are totally unnecessary. The vast majority of America's budget is in the military. If that were to be cut back to a self defense force ONLY, then there wouldn't be anywhere near as much of a budget problem.

  • @luccaskunk Although the deficit is unimaginably gigantic (and cutbacks desperately needed) I totally agree with you. If America focused on protecting only the borders and not fighting iin faraway countries a lot of money would be saved. The American military budget is insane.

  • @Clausfarre As the only western country that can guarantee exploration in space and whatnot, my opinion is that America should hugely increase their NASA budget. The responsibility is on them to take extend humanity's reach in this universe. They're a force for peace as far as I can tell, too, and I know that in the eyes of a lot of liberals and hippier people than myself, a slight cutback on the military budget over there would be welcome, and in its place a slight increase in NASA funds!

  • 09:28 :D

  • how the hell are we gonna get people off the space station with a retired space shuttle? just snowballing..

  • good by

  • @Keadin That's another thing with all the technological progress we've made in the past century, we shouldn't be having these problems. Yet we are still forced to compete over resources, we should have stopped using 50 years ago.

It's all about the almighty dollar. Science could have us all living like kings, yet we choose to live in an inevitably failing economic system. For what, so the overwhelming minority can continue to horde money, power and destroy the earth ecosystem in the process?

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Epic.

  • Good video ;) But i have to say but because i know that we have knowledge to go far beyond this. Sad truth is it is being supressed by the power hunger lunatics who seeks to gain control over people by not letting it out and use it against them.

  • Brilliant.

  • Isn't... isn't the background music from the ending of The Dark Knight...?

  • is there anything more I can do than hit the like button, favorite and send it to anyone I know...?!??

  • With the budget cuts...there will be no successor in the near future. We wont be going back to space for a long time most likely. The US government even wanted to back out of any involvement with the International space station!...

    What will happen...

  • The space inspired a whole generation of young students into math and science. Where is that today? Jersey shore? American Idol?

  • It makes me wonder if we have another secret space program. You don't really think we're just giving up do you? No, I think we do have other, more efficient means of transporting people into space. It's probably a lot cheaper and more reliable too. But since they're using technology we're not supposed to know about, as far as we're concerned the space program is DEAD. I guess keeping the war machine up and running, to keep fighting over resources we don't really need anymore is more important.

  • @DeathBYDesign666 The VASIMR rocket is supposed to be tested on the international space station by 2013. Much faster and more efficient than what we have now. It's supposed to reach 120,000+ MPH. The concept was researched by Franklin Chang-Diaz with NASA for years and later developed at his company, the Ad Astra Rocket Company. It's already been test fired so I guess we'll see how well it works in 2013.

  • @xsboost25psi That is cool as hell! I just looked that up it is a really neat concept.

  • @DeathBYDesign666

Look up the Orion program, they are not killing the space program, they are killing the space 'shuttle' program.

  • @DeathBYDesign666 Yeh most technologies in flight and space are ages old they have surely invented some other sort of spacecraft and probably already are on the moon.

  • @DeathBYDesign666

it's very sad that i will not see space exploration or technology. We have it all wrong i believe we should spend money on exploration , space programs with no budgets and not war or fighting over beliefs and religions.

We as a global race of humans should not waste PAPER money on supplys for this. money is just a symbol. This is moving forword for the human race :(

  • jumping doesn't get you into space ;-)

  • @QasimAnwar135 yes it does.. you only have to jump far enough to start falling around the earth :-)

  • Oh yes I did hear a bit of Battlestar Galactica OST.. Nice :)

  • they wanted to call it constitution?? -.-

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz spend this money on discovering nuclear fusion pls..

  • Nice video.

  • SpaceRip you rock!!

  • ...im still confused... will will there no longer be a space craft that "lands" ? ...are they going back to the ocean "crash landing"? if so... ill miss the shuttle deeply. =(

  • It's the technology human kind deserves, but not the one it needs right now.

So, we'll end the space shuttle program. Because it can take it.

    Because it's not a pioneer.

It's a silent spacecraft. An accomplished explorer.

    The Dark Flight.

  • INCREDIBLE... I dbout this country would be as excited about manned spaceship landing on Mars as America was about the moon-landing... what with the short attention span and focus on celebrities.

  • @marcdaddy33 so lets send a celebrity on the first mission to mars. I vote for Beiber.

  • @stiimuli

lol... great idea... or even better, let's send the president and congress

  • @marcdaddy33 that would cost too much in fuel =P

then again we could attempt to use all the bullshit that comes out of congress to fuel the flight.

  • @stiimuli If we were to send a Celebrity, better to send someone more deserving to go. Beiber doesn't deserve the credit.

  • @Ridleysama I dont want him to get the credit, I just want to leave him there.

  • @stiimuli Haha! Sorry, I misunderstood! Might as well send him to Venus, the Sun, or Jupiter then.

  • wow i just noticed the blue man group soundtrack

  • William Shatner, what a perfect narrator for this!

  • great video, thanks

  • I wanna go to space D'X

  • 07:59 hahah ^^

  • totally patriotic (atleast the end ;) )

  • Captain Kirk rocks!

  • So, what will be the next project to get men off the earth??? Is there anything planned???

  • @OSemeador

    The Second Coming of Christ

  • The most complex machine is the Large Hadron Collider!! Not this! 00:18

  • Just because NASA in not involved does not mean a end to the space program, There are a few private companies working on cheaper space shuttle like vehicles.

  • @nicpetnic

I think the private companies would do a much better job than NASA... matter of fact, if it were private we would have landed on Mars already... so long as there isn't a bunch of government red tape getting in the way, let the private companies take over space exploration.

  • WOW.....

  • Aren't you guys going to get in trouble for using Batman Begins soundtrack?

  • @DrRapistaa - Batman approves this message. Besides, this is an educational and presumably non profit video so there really isn't a case for infringement.

  • less budget for military and war. more for science and humankind :) peace no war!

  • america needs to spend more money on the space programs and not on stupid shit like international affairs.

  • @davidhe777 Agree with you 100% and then some

  • Another great video ! You sir, host one of my favorite channel :)

  • Thank you, a very interesting and timely video. No matter the rights and wrongs of the shuttle development, the reasons, the excuses, the payoffs or losses, it still represented an enormously successful chapter in the history of space, or near Earth exploration.

Having enjoyed ( and felt heartache at times ) this exciting ride, I look forward to the next step.

  • Ah, the booster test site is not in Clearfield, it's outside Corrine, way out away from the population centers of the Wasatch Front. ATK's offices are in West Valley City. Looks like they found an ATK warehouse at Freeport Center (a site near Clearfield), and decided the rocket tests were going on there. Pretty poor research.

  • Live long and prosper!

  • yeah they earned alot of pride

  • yeah they earn alot of pride

  • I LOVE the bg music ("Passacaglia") that started playing at 7:45! Mainly because it was also featured in Battlestar Galactica soundtrack album. :)
